I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

Any day involving the words "ambulance" and "ER" is, by default, not a healthy day.

*headdesk*

My gym rang me yesterday and offered me a free fitness assessment. I haven't done one for over a year so will be interesting to see the difference between then and now.

For instance, I have lost about a kilo since the last one. My weight the other morning was 69.5kg, which means since August 2006 when I joined I have lost the grand total of 6.7kg (about 15lbs).

I'm sure my tummy is flatter. I have built muscle on my arms and back and legs. I look toned and my cardio fitness has improved heaps.

I try to make it there 3 times a week, sometimes 4. I've done Pilates twice after having a long break from it and have forgotten how hard it can be

If you built muscle, you lost a lot more then 15lbs worth of fat.
If you have good cardio, you pretty much have good everything.
Pilates kicks ass, everyones ass.

I can't win. It appears to have been nothing serious, but they don't know what it was either, so who knows?

I hate hospitals. I hate sitting in hospitals waiting to hear what is wrong with someone I love. I hate it even more when they don't fucking produce an answer.

Going to go try to get some sleep again. I hate staring at the ceiling too.

This week, hopefully I'll get back to my baseline. It will take motivation, something I'm only getting in short bursts these days.

Cycle 4, Wave 1
Squat day

165x5
210x5
250x5 Warm-ups done
270x5
315x2 *
355x7 Rep calc says 438#

I expected to suck today. Two weeks off and one of those weeks was spent sick, so I came in with low expectations. In fact, the set marked with the * was supposed to be 5 reps, but was interrupted by a very rapid racking of the bar and a dash to the restroom. Yay.

Anyway, top set was actually not far off from last Cycle's Wave 1 performance (444#), so I'm not super grumpy. I wanted 8, but I started to pitch forward as I was prepping to go down and the vision went dim. Discretion being the better part of not killing myself with lots of iron, I decided to rack it and call it a day.

Assistance work? To quote LB, "Fuck assistance work. I ain't doing it today."

On other news, viv's birthday present came in today: Link to pic

This company is cool. They have two bikes (with an alternate frame for one) and you can customise it by choosing the frame colour, tire colour, rim colour (on the single-speed/fixie), grip colour, etc. I showed viv and she fell in love with the dutch bike, and built the colour scheme linked above.

I must say, their advertisement is accurate. It really does look like that. The photos on the site don't do the paint justice though, as it has the occasional prismatic metalflakes in the paint. Very pretty. She was very, very happy riding it around today. Hopefully the cool factor will get her to ride.

Try again. Lit did not like the original link.

Or just look here:

The roller brake on the front is dead cool. It's like a drum brake on a bike. Not as stoppy as a caliper or disc, of course, but it beats just a rear coaster brake, which is what these sort of bikes usually have. It's not like this one is intended to go fast anyway, but the addition of the front brake is still great in my eyes. It's all Shimano stuff too, so that's a plus.

SWEET!

I love Dutch bikes. If only I didn't live in a mountainous area lol.

Did an 8-mile walk today, which included a 1,600-foot-high hill. Took less than 3 hours. I am getting sooooooooooooo much fitter than I used to be. I don't even feel like I've exerted myself today I could NOT have even done that walk even 15 pounds ago, never mind 39 pounds ago. :D

CP, you continue to impress me! WOO HOO!!!

Well, the cough that would not die appears to be dying. Weirdest thing was, it came to a near screeching halt about two hours into our camping trip. I don't know why and, frankly, I don't care. All I know is that it has been about eight weeks of hell and I'm glad it's over.

So, tonight, back to the gym!

Yee-fucking-haw!!:D

Yoga tonight. I hope I never forget to wear underwear like last week.

Oh my... :(
I hope you remember to wear underwear as well.

..............................................................

Well, I'm back to posting a bit. I'm aware that most people have no idea who the Hell I am, or what my old AV was, but eh, might as well jump right in...

I'm on a new kick. I've decided that I want to be hawt when the anniversary of my divorce rolls around in August. -It's an occasion worth celebrating, not to mention that all of the stress of the past six years has taken a major toll on my body, and I want to be healthier.

I've been doing P90x, and power-walking between 5-10 miles/day. - Whatever time will allow. I also keep my calories between 1200-1500/day. -More calories on recovery days. I'm sure it sounds backwards, but it works for me.

Yesterday I just did my walk, but I'm trying to get it together enough to consistently do the video in the evening, and the walk in the morning.

Today my legs are so sore that I'm taking a break from the walk. I'm literally hobbling around like a person 4 times my age. Tonight's video is an upper body workout, so I should be able to handle it.

Ended the squats with two at 230. Not too bad. And it wasn't like I couldn't have done more.

Yoga guy told me I had some mean looking triceps. Too bad I don't have biceps to go with them. I never have been large in the biceps and it hurts my right shoulder to curl. The littlest of things can hurt my right shoulder. Like I have a messed up rotor cuff or something.

Even after doing 3 hours of walking last week, I still didn't lose weight this week Grrr. This has to be the last night not eating to plan, definately.

Hell yeah! This is more like it! Now you're getting into weight that is more appropriate given your bodyweight.

I knew you had it in you to do way more than 135#.

Two separate questions here:

1) Do you do any forearm/grip work?

2) How are your pull-ups coming along?

While some guys blow up like crazy on curls, many are held back by their forearm development of all things. There is some sort of physiological link between forearm strength/size and the biceps. I don't pretend to understand it, but I've known many people that have realised bicep size/strength gains like crazy when they added grip/forearm training to their regimen.

And pull-ups/chin-ups are another movement that is really great for the biceps and bicep brachialis, and, for most people, is very shoulder-friendly.

I went to my first Zumba class last night. It was fun, but very fast and I had trouble getting my arms and legs co-ordinated

I need to learn how to move my hips better too

Certainly worked up a sweat though!

Man, that 8th rep was all I could do. It's been almost a week since I was sick and I still feel like I've got no Go. Ugh.

Once again, no assistance work. When it's all I've got to do the main lift, assistance is just gonna hamper recovery. Some days you just lift what you can and move on. There's always another day and another lift.

Dude, dude, dude, I am so there and not there. At least you did something.

Yes, the cough has returned. A two day respite and right back to the hacking.

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!!!
