I Miss...

I miss

My Mom. It's hard to believe it's been a year since she passed.:(

I realize she's in a better place, and her pain is gone. My pain is still there, but she's still in my heart.

I miss having a more carefree life....as I grow older, I find myself organizing and strategizing and ruminating all the time....I used to not give a shit about matrial things as much, and now I am always trying to get more....not for me, but for my kids when I am gone...at least I am rationalizing it that way now...

I've said much of this before, but it is said tonight as a kind of resolution.

I miss - and will find again - waking up entwined with my lover, and making love before we are fully awake. The easy rhythm of bodies in motion. I miss feeling as though someone has my back. I miss waking up without a list of to-do's intruding on my morning smiles. I miss kissing until I am breathless and wanting. I miss going to a party with the man I love and watching one another across the room. I miss the touches and heat in the car, on the street, in the living room when there are guests, sneakily in the kitchen at a party.

This is not a lament. It's becoming my anthem. :) I am so blessed to have known these things, and to know that they exist is to have hope that they will return, somehow, in the fullness of time.

I miss my invisible man.
I miss my carefree self.

I refuse to let go of my belief that today is not forever, it is only today.

Ease.

The sense of purpose I get from making my writing a priority.

Waking with words on my mouth, hurrying to get them on a screen.

I miss having an affectionate, caring, loving girlfriend who I can hold and cuddle with. Its been a long time since I had that.

The world makes it very hard to hold onto what we know is truest. I'm trying!
