Wouldn't it depend on the type of nut?
You wouldn't need a nutcracker for almonds, peanuts, cashews or pecans.
Walnuts on the other hand you would ..

Ah, that's where you are ( sorta) wrong, my darling. You do need a nutcracker for almonds and pecans. The table nut bowl usually has hazelnuts and Brazil Nuts that also need to be opened with a nutcracker.

No!!! The whole point is to crack them yourself like cousin Eddie in Christmas vacation. That's where the fun is had.

Edited to say that walnuts are the main nut of attraction.
