IC Not so normal day

When Andrew opened the door, Mazie had her gun ready to fire. She'd taken it out, shut off the safety, and cocked it nearly all in one motion. She took a strong stance and braced herself.

"Come get me bitches!"

For added effect, she flipped the zombies off for the few seconds she felt safe having her hand away from the trigger of the gun. Just as Andrew had said, the zombies that tried to come for her had most of their heads cut off by the sword. But being the slightly impatient type of girl she was, Mazie felt that this plan would take too long and they'd miss their opportunity to escape.

"Screw this. Ninja or not, this is taking too damn long."

"Look out!"

After she gave her warning to Andrew, she began firing at some of the creatures heading out the door. She hadn't shot a gun in years and wasn't the best shot, but she managed to kill four of the five creatures she shot. The fifth was taken care of by Andrew's sword.

"Shit."

He quickly searched the corpses, from inside the barracks he heard a moan. He moved cautiously deeper as there was a guard missing. He pushed open the door to what seemed to be the sleeping quarters, the cheerleader uniform was black and red, the blood not really visible, but the face showed him all he needed to know. Another head fell to the ground.

"We need to get away from here, those pistol shots may have drawn unwanted attention."

As if to punctuate his words two creatures came shambling around the building, from the sound of it more followed them. Andrew pointed to the other side,

"Run!"

He ran, there was a time for everything and for now they had to check if any of the keycards worked and if they instead needed the tenth card.

Lilly had been busy working on hacking into the security system when she heard the distant sound of gun shots, "What the ....." she looked to the CCTV and slammed her hand down on the desk, "Shit!" grabbing her cell she began ringing Mazie, this was not good the new sound had distracted them from the alarms.

Grabbing the keyboard Lilly quickly locked the doors on the south building locking some of those things in there. But how the hell was she going to stop the others?

Keeping the cell to ear she muttered, "Pick up, pick up...." she followed Andrew and Mazie through the CCTV cameras whilst trying to hack into the system.

Mazie followed Andrew, running as fast as she could. She felt her phone vibrate and took it out of her pocket to answer.

"What's going on?"

She heard Mazie pick up, "What the hell!!! who started shooting...." lily could hear they were running and see as she watched them on the monitor,

"Never mind.. Keep running you will come to the back of the maintenance building, you will see the basement door, its unlocked get in if you can and lock it from the inside, i've locked this door so its your only way to get in and hurry your about to be swarmed!"

Lilly hung up and began typing as fast as she could, hacking into the security wasn't hard but it did take time and it seemed their time was probably running out quicker then she had hoped.

After she hung up with Lily, Mazie relayed the information to Andrew.

"Lily says we need to head for the basement of the maintenance building and that we need to do it fast."

Lily doubted she had typed so fast in her life. Watching Andrew and Mazie on the screens she smiled as she brought up the alarm programme.

'please let this work.' she prayed as she typed in the access code. Suddenly all the alarms and lights began sounding and flickering within the south and east buildings. she knew it probably would not distract the things chasing Andrew and Mazie, but at least it would distract the others which were continuing to roam about.

Sliding her chair she went back to the security screen, typing the access codes she bit her bottom lip making it bleed a little as she worked on getting them out of there.

Pulling three vials from his bag, he threw them behind them, creating a huge fiery explosion, enough to engulf at least four of the creatures. He turned and ran after Mazie again,

"Basement? Why on earth the basement?"

When they reached the basement, he pulled open the door, they both rushed inside, he pulled the door close, flicking on the lock. From a shadowy corner a figure came stumbling to them, groaning. Andrew gripped his sword tighter, ready to attack.

Having learned her lesson from last time, Mazie decided to forego pulling out the gun and instead pulled out her boxcutter. She took her place next to Andrew and stood ready for what may come.

She noticed out of the corner of her eye that Andrew and Mazie had made it. Going back to the security screen she typed in one last code, "come on work..." she muttered over and over like a mantra. It seemed to take a life time when the words she had been waiting for appeared,

"ACCESS GRANTED."

"Yes!" she shouted before hooking up her cell to the computer, downloading the codes would allow her to help out Andrew and Mazie but also let her control which security gates need to be opened when they arrive. Whilst it was downloading she grabbed the rucksack and tied it tightly onto her shoulders she wasn't going to be having it bounce around like last time. Grabbing the baseball bat also she walked back to the computer.

"DOWNLOAD COMPLETE." she couldn't help but smile, turning to the CCTV monitor she could just make out Andrew and Mazie in the basement below her, but then she noticed the other figure in the room ... "Damn it!" she whispered.

Putting the cell in her jeans pocket she ran to the emergency exit door at the back of the room, which led down to the basement where they currently were. she put her hand to her mouth as the stale smell hit her, it was making her gag but she fought against it.
Running around the underground passage she came to the basement door.
Placing her ear against it she could hear the grunting sound, 'How the hell did one of them get in here?' she thought to herself.

Ok so she couldn't shout, and stepping back and looking at the door it seemed locked from the inside ... what could she do? then it hit her, the cell was no use as it could distract Mazie and the thing could not be the only one in there.
Lily stepped back further and whistled as loud and long as she could. it echoed bouncing off the walls of the underground passage, but it was when everything was silent she heard the distant shuffling behind her.

The whistle turned the creature's attention away from him and Mazie, Andrew drew and threw a throwing dart. Striking it just behind the ear, the steel dart sliding into the soft part of skull there and into the brain. The cheerleader fell to the ground, with more moans and groans the shadows came alive with bodies, Andrew counted six.

"Well Mazie...Tally ho."

He drew two more darts and threw, two bodies sunk to the ground as the creatures came stumbling towards them. Andrew moved lightly passed a grabbing attack, slicing a head off, met asecond attack with the butt of the sword to the face and a sliced open throat. But the thing didn't go down.

"Shit."

An overhead chop laid open the skull and brain, the thing went down. An underhand slice chopped the arms off of one creature going for Mazie, Andrew swung the sword into the vertebrae of the neck, severing it. The creature went down as well. He turned to see Mazie facing the last creature,

"Damage the brain or break the neck, it seems to kill them."

"I kinda figured that."

Mazie got low and sprang forward towards the creature, bringing her knee up hard in its stomach hard enough to make it double over. With its head within her reach, she caught it hard on one side with her arm while she jammed her knife through one of its eyes. She pulled the blade out quickly, slicing open the soft internal tissues in the process and twisting the creature's neck until she heard the tell-tale sound of bone breaking and tissues tearing. Once she was sure she'd taken the creature out, she moved on to the next one.

This time she roundhouse kicked it across the face and knocked it against the wall with enough force to cause a crack in a human skull. She then took her hand and repeatedly slammed the damaged spot against the wall until she was certain there was a soft spot and jammed her knife repeatedly into the space she'd made. She made sure it was dead by snapping its neck cleanly in two.

"You know, it's a lot easier to kill these things than it is to get in a normal fight."

Lily could hear the commotion going on from the other side of the door but her attention was on the shuffling she could hear coming closer and closer.
Gripping the baseball bat the steadied it at her side, keeping her eyes facing the tunnel she knocked on the door three times lightly but loud enough that if Andrew and Mazie were still alive they would hear her.
Pulling off her rucksack slowly she placed it behind one of the pipes located at her left. Breathing deeply she closed her eyes trying to concentrate. She would be stupid to run towards it, draw it to her was the best, the doors were blocking her back but that only added to her advantage.
Opening her eyes she could just make out two shadows moving closer to her.
Testing the weight of the bat in her hands she smiled, "Batter up!" she muttered to her self.

she waited for the first one to be within four feet of her before she swung the bat as hard as she could, she could hear the connection as the metal it the skull of the first thing, she watched as it fell onto the pipe making the sound echo all the way down the passage and around her.

Before the next one could make a move she kicked it in the stomach making it fall backwards, bringing the bat up once more she hit the front of the skull fanscinated as its eyes seemed to roll into the back of its head.

Seeing them both lying she gave them each a couple of hits on the skull till the bat was covered in blood and other things. Sighing she brushed the few strands of hair which had escaped behind her ear, wiping her forehead she walked back to the door and knocked once more.

Grabbing the rucksack she waited.

The dull clang told him that right outside the interior door, somebody or something had just landed against the pipes.

"They are corpses, I would not think they know much of fighting."

Kneeling down he wiped the blade on one of the creatures' clothing, he got the darts he had thrown, cleaning them before placing them in the back, he slid the sword into it's sheath. Moving silently over to the door, he quickly opened it. He wanted to make sure that if it was something waiting on the other side, that he surprised it. He was relieved to see Lily.

"Seems you had some fun. We found the security cards, but there is one missing. Also I would like to know how the hell these things got here."

"As always." Lily grinned before peeking over his shoulder and nodding her head at Mazie.

"Seems i missed the real party though." she sighed unable to stop herself from looking at the corpses now littering the ground around the room.

Pulling out her cell she held it up to Andrew, "No need for those security cards, i finally hack into the damn thing so just need to get there." she thought for a moment, "I would still hang on to those cards though, i couldn't really tell what doors had been secured or not. That damn principal and saving money, you would think he would invest in a decent system." she stopped herself from rambling on.

Adjusting the rucksack on her back, she grabbed the baseball bat, "I don't know how these got down here, i think maybe through the fire exit down the bottom." she pointed the bat down the passageway. "I think it leads back to the front building but i can't be too sure."

Mazie wiped her knife off on her jeans before retracting the blade and putting it back in her pocket. She walked over to Andrew and Lily and caught a glimpse of the creatures that Lily had taken out through the door. She then turned her attention back to her allies.

"So, what's our next move? Do we head to the gate or look for the last card or what? We also probably need to find someplace to hide or set up camp soon while we're at it."

She leaned absent-mindedly against the wall nearest her waiting for one of them to answer.

"I would feel much better if we had the last card, but we can try the codes and if that fails we can try the cards...but that also means we will have to look for the missing guard."

He moved into the hallway,

"Since the basement entrance is blocked, it may just be better to go out through the side door. From what I saw the dorms is quite empty, so if we can block one off and search one, we can camp out in one for tonight."

"I'm okay with that. While we're at it, we could always loot the other students' rooms for more stuff. I mean, not like they're gonna care anymore."

Maizie stood upright and realized that there had been blood where she was leaning and hadn't noticed it.

"I just bought this jacket a month ago...Dammit. I knew I should've changed in the dorm."

She tried to no avail to wipe the offending substance off of her sleeve but was too late as most of the stain had already set in. What came off on her hand she wiped on her pants.

"Anyone know if those damn things are attracted to the smell of blood?"

"I think it's something else, they came at us without us having blood on us."

He turned to see the blood on Mazie,

"Just make sure that their blood doesn't get into an open wound. Better safe than sorry."

Mazie looked at her hands and felt along her arms, legs, and middle through her clothes.

"I don't even think I've been hurt yet...Shit. I think I just broke my record."

Mazie considered getting a better look by pulling up her sleeves or shirt but decided against it. Her amazement and disbelief could wait for a minute. Deciding on a strategy was more important at the moment.

"What do you think does attract them then?"

Lily could only shrug her shoulders, "I really don't know...." she thought for a moment, "Maybe there are like animals, you know attracted to the smell of body odor etc?" she couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at the thought, but it did kind of make sense as they had been running around.

"Camping out sounds good, then we can see if anyone is arriving to the rescue." Biting her lip she smiled, "Hopefully i can find a laptop then we can plan some more."

She stood to the side to let Andrew and Mazie through.

"Or perhaps they can just feel the electrical impulses that our brains and hearts make? All I know is that they must some how know that we are alive, they react when they see us, I haven't heard or seen any of them react to anything else but sound and sight."

He moved into the hallway, then moved the bag into a more comfortable position before he started down the hallway.

"Well, I don't really care what they're attracted to. It would help if we knew what it was so we could use it as bait or get rid of it or something, but as long as we can kill them and avoid them when we need to, I guess it doesn't matter."

Mazie took Andrew's lead and tightened her pack which had loosened up in the commotion of the fight. Once she was satisfied, Mazie entered the hallway herself and followed close behind Andrew.

Taking one last look into the room, Lily closed the door behind her and began walking pace with Mazie and Andrew.

"I didn't see the guard on CCTV. I guess they must have been busy doing their rounds. But first i think camping the night is best, get our energy back up."

"That might be a good idea too. If we go ahead and find a place to stay for the night, we can take some time to organize and do some more detailed planning."

Mazie continued to follow behind Andrew while she spoke to Lily.
