If incest was legal

I'd like to read a story that dealt with the effect of lifting the ban on incest in a society, how people will react & how many will start having open sexual relationship with their family members

Would this ban be lifted for only those 18 and over? Would it allow marriage as well as sexual/emotional relationships? Would procreation also be allowed within family members?
Just curious. I think one allure for the incest fantasy is that it is taboo and wrong. SO taking that out of the equation might not make it as hot or exciting. In fact, it may just have the opposite affect and fewer people would be wanting to, or doing it as there are now.

I agree that the whole point of incest as a sexual turn-on is that it is taboo. The outcome of making incest legal would be that mothers would dread the day that their pretty daughter turns 18 (in Lit World, anyway) and the father suddenly gets the hots for her. Unless it's one of those Lit families where everyone gets it on, the wife would walk out and divorce proceedings would soon follow.

You would also have to deal with the fact that the taboo isn't just legal; it is largely cultural. Making it legal would change some things, but not others.

Of course, you could ignore this and pretend everyone goes along with the new law, or you could explore the dichotomy that results. Either way, could lead to some interesting stories......Carney

Or, it could be IN THE FUTURE! A small island nation hedonistic in nature ruled by a brother/sister couple who take over the world and legalize incest with the introduction of worldwide birth control. With space ships and penny arcades.

Or, it could be TODAY! In France or the Netherlands, where, despite the lack of legal penalty for incest it remains uncommon. The cultural taboo, and perhaps the Westermarck (sp) effect, continue. Indeed, the legal ban probably flows from the taboo, not the other way around.

How about this: the Earth is DESTROYED by a meteorite/alien-race/virus/computer-glitch, and nobody survives except ONE brother and ONE sister. The only hope for humanity is for them to DO IT, over and over and over again until the population is replenished.

Would YOU do it? Fuck your annoying little brat sister for the sake of your species? Or let them all go to hell because she once stole your Twinkie out of your lunch box back in the second grade?

The possibilities are endless.......Carney

Mine? Fuck that shit; that's why I invent imaginary sisters who are teasing, arousing, and very adaptable.

Still, I like moving around the laws about incest. What is it, exactly? Sex? What is sex that falls under whichever jurisdiction? Male/female intercourse? Does that mean legally two women or two men can't be convicted of incest with each other? What if the two are romantically involved without intercourse? What if they get pregnant through artificial insemination? They don't have sex (according to the law), but they still get pregnant. Well?

I wish incest between consenting adults was legal everywhere, but it isn't :(

So, if it was legal, who would actually make a pass at a sibling or mother or father? What if they didn't feel the same way? Could you ever look them in the eye again? I think the taboo is stronger than the law itself.

Incest between adults has been legal, or close to it, in some places, France not being the least of these. I don't think this has resulted family members jumping each others' bones suddenly, but the French do seem to have a special appreciation of the subject. :cattail:

I did not know that incest is legal in France. It's odd because I've seen a lot of French cinema involving brother/sister incest, but they are always secretive about their sexual trysts. So maybe it is legal but still not entirely acceptable, either in society or amongst other members of their families.

Just because it's legal for you to run into a church to start shouting about how you fucked the pastor's daughter doesn't mean it's that great an idea.

Legalizing Incest would have a very minor effect. It's more than the law and more than tradition/taboo stopping us. All animals are programmed not to find close relatives attractive generally just by spending too much time together.

At least for brother sister incest. You'd probably get a lot of fucking cousins though.

I don't know. maybe someone from France would know. I think it is an offense but maybe not so serious as in other places? I think there was recently a proposal to make a stricter law, but i am not sure if it is in effect now?

Actually, incest isn't illegal as long as both partners are legal and consenting adults. What's illegal is marriage between specified blood relatives. If that were made legal, you might not see too much of a cultural change, but I believe you'd see at least some brothers and sisters getting married. :)

Nah man, the incest laws actually say nothing of marriage, just sexual penetration and child abuse.

"In the United States, every state and the District of Columbia have some form of codified incest prohibition.[19] However, individual statutes vary widely. Rhode Island repealed its criminal incest statute in 1989[19], Ohio only targets parental figures[19], and New Jersey does not apply any penalties when both parties are 18 years of age or older.[19] Massachusetts issues a penalty of up to 20 years' imprisonment for those engaging in sexual activities with relatives closer than first cousins[19] and Hawaii up to 5 years in jail for "sexual penetration" with certain blood relatives and in-laws.[19]

"In all states, close blood-relatives that fall under the incest statutes include father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, and in some states, first cousins. Many states also apply incest laws to non-blood relations including stepparents, step-siblings, and in-laws.[20]"

I personally would prefer to live in a society where legality is defined ONLY by consent...which is not exactly what we currently enjoy.

But regardless of whether family relations are legal or not the primary obstacle is still the cultural norms...and in America this is only changed by celebrities.

Yoga didnt become popular until Madonna and Sting started doing it...so how bout we have some famous older women go on Oprah and tell all about her intimacies with her gorgeous 21 year old son!!!

If the media would only present it as a liberating experience instead of some dirty little secret this would go a long way to make people start seeing incest in a positive light.

And before you know it, intriguing tales will be popping up all over suburban America!

In Japan btw, you can often see adults reading incest comics on the subway, and nobody even raises an eyebrow.

Recently I was in LA and witnessed some of the most beautiful mature ladies in the world going to and fro through the lobby of my hotel in Beverly Hills...and I would ask myself how their teenage sons could possibly resist their moms exquisite sensuality???

Implying beautiy and sensuality are the same thing. I'd be hard-pressed to find any sensuality at all in Beverly Hills.

Well, as it happens some women are both.

I've heard several guys say that a certain model is beautiful as far as her facial features are concerned, but she doesnt have enough of a body to be sensual.

Beverly Hills in my opinion is one of the most sensual places on earth. I mean, people (like me) go there to consume the sensuality of the environment itself!

Any women who vacations there cant help but get into the mood of the place...and ends up adding a little swagger in her step!

You speak of euphoria-induced lust, not sensuality. You're trying to assign sensuality to everything as though it's a word that fits any situation. You lack focus on the matter.

Not any situation, just the sensual ones...and its not necessarily about lust. A potted plant can be sensual, or even architecture.

The Beverly Hills Hotel is a very sensual building....esp. when you consider all the famous trysts that have taken place there over the last 50-60 years.

Except when it was renovated in 1992 they forgot to use the same flamingo pink paint...so now it looks more like a pencil eraser!

Euphoria can be induced by many things which are also not necessarily sexual...music, religion, drugs, roller coasters. Cruising down Sunset Boulevard towards the ocean in a convertible, with Brian Ferry on the stereo sounds pretty euphoric to me!
