If movies had comment sections...

The 2026 movie Voicemails for Isabelle has an eerily similar theme to the 2023 movie Love Again. Spoiler alert: the MMC is somewhat of a jerk and how and why the FMC goes back to him after he betrayed her trust is beyond me.

This got me to thinking about our comment section. I know if a story with these two significant flaws were published here, there would be a raft of negative comments about both of these issues. I almost wish we could easily write a comment that the writer/director/producer would see every time they opened their computers and that other movie watchers could easily see.

Like if someone was stood outside your front door loudly berating you for your mistakes every time you left your house?

I think it’s probably enough that filmmakers have a small army of professional critics to contend with and then the possibility that, every time they make a film that fails to succeed, they’re going to struggle to work again.

Thanks for your good points and I certainly appreciate them. Rotten Tomatoes is a separate site, though, and doesn’t pop up when a film is finished either in the theater or on line. And every time I open the ‘My Home’ page here on LE, the latest comment(s) are right there for viewing. True, I guess it isn’t when I immediately open my computer but it is early on when I access my data and I have never thought of that being a ‘bit harsh.’

IMDB used to have comments and discussion boards, but they were closed back in the late 2010s.
