Illusion Vale (OOC)

Well, good to hear that everything worked out.

So, aside from work, how are you doing?

Decent--a bit tired though. Between work and edits, I've had little time for much else lately.

Though I did manage to put the first part of a short up here at Lit just so people know I'm still alive :D I haven't been to other places here on Lit that I used to hang out at in a while--the ORP board has officially kidnapped me and claimed me as its own! :D

Also, because of Ren, I want to go back to learning Gaelic again :D So I gotta go and find some good books :)

Aside from finals/students stuff, how are things for you?

Lazy, as usual. Of course, I have to pack up all my stuff so I can take it all home. That will be a bit of a chore.

So, are you going to post a reply to Angelus in Ragnos? I don't think you could do much. Oh, and you haven't replied to Aries yet. I still need to put up Cris finding the goblin army, and how he deals with that.

I always hated moving stuff when I was in school... that was the worst.

Uh... Little Eris is a gonner and I haven't been terribly inspired to write for Mirah recently--plus I've been a little busy. Potentially paying projects come first.

Understood. Of course, I don't have anything on my to do list that could even remotely result in my earning an income. :(

Haha!

Well, I suppose it would be hard to hold a job if you were a full time student anyway. I definately didn't work through school--thought it was more important to focus on that, than work.

I never tried getting a job during the school year. Last summer, though, I had a job, but it lasted all of 3 days before they told me that I wasn't needed. Thankfully, I earned just over a hundred dollars for that job. Oddly enough, I had to pay the feds when I filed my taxes, despite earned such a low income.

Nice.

A short job and you got stuck by the man for taxes... bleah.

and its good that you are trying to learn gaelic again E, ive been looking for some books on it myself, all i know ive picked up from the internet, a movie or two, and from when i was in ireland

Yeah, it was a short job. I don't think I was cut out for it though, considering the fact that they told me I wasn't needed anymore.

I started trying to learn Gaelic when I was younger, and I've had an on again, off again affair with it, like most of my language projects :D

If I find anything useful, I'll be sure to pass it along :)

If I were to learn a language that wasn't mainstream anymore (like Latin or Gaelic (i think)), it would be Old English. I had a teacher in high school that spoke Old English, and everytime she did, it sounded like she was casting a spell. Nice. :D

Latin is super cool :D
Though Gaelic is still the official language of Ireland and children are still required at present, to learn it. So it's not really dead :D

Well, there. That shows just how much I know about foreign languages.

Haha :D

Well, Old English is a pretty good one to learn too--then you can read cool stuff like Beowulf untranslated :D

plus there are still gaeltachts like connemara and the Aran Islands where Irish is their first language, its amazing to be in those places. the aran islands didnt get electricity until the mid 70's

Wow--sounds like my kind of place :D

Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well and good on this fine evening/moring...whichever applies to you. I'm just popping in to say a quick hello. I had my own run in with the fella in the white lab coat today and am floating through the initial blush of some absolutely fascinating drugs. In the interest of preserving my self image and avoiding embarassment I won't hang around long :D

I saw someone say once that Gaelic was a very difficult language to learn....is that true or was it perhaps their own personal issue?

I think it is difficult, and most people I've spoken too who are in the know agree that it is very difficult for those who werent taught at an early age. But im sure some people might find it no more difficult then anything else.

Heheh :D I guess going to the doc's has some perks!

I have some grammar issues with Gaelic in the past that I couldn't wrap my head around, but then I have yet to find a good book that can explain it well. Welsh--now that's a killer! I'll probably never touch that one again :(

Well....I flunked Spanish in seventh grade so I don't think I will be learning a second language at my age. My g/f is learining it however, for career purposes, and she's doing quite well. But her brain works in a completely different manner than mine. We like to say that she is a Vulcan while I am a Klingon.....cool calm logic versus raw emotion and instinct. What a pair we make!

Ive been accused of being Klingon-like as well. Mostly because of guttural roaring and honour-talk.

typical conversation

person:I ran my ass home, there was too many of them
me: Where is your pride? your warrior honour? :klingon roar:

you think im joking?

not that i disagree lad, but it sounds very foolish for you to admit a lack of knowledge and then proceed to pass a judgement, all in the same statement.

Seems appropriate to me, judging by what I've seen from you. Some of my favorite people have a Klingon streak in them, at least every now and then.

I know enough about Star Trek to know that I prefer Star Wars.
