I'm considering a change

ASSTR was one of my go-tos back when I was still a connoisseur of erotic literature. Some of that shit was too freaky for me.

Man. Good ol' ASSTR! :D That one and Kristen's Lair or some shit like that.

There was a bunch of really good shit on there. Then there was a LOT of bad, bad, BAAAAD shit. Just reprehensible exercises of people dumping their id and calling it a story. Then there was a handful of bent, out-there, left-field type shit that you knew you shouldn't be reading but you just had to find out how the story ends for closure.

like...there was this one author, Corvus something, I can't remember his exact handle. But he would do this rich, layered, intricate smut that would devolve into some grotesque Hellraiser type shit. Like if Stephen King knocked back a gallon of Tito's and took the brakes all the way off.

I used to like ASSTR and over the years I've considered posting some of my still un-written "too extreme for Literotica" story ideas there- that is, ones featuring some of the more taboo femdomme and fetish activities that most people on this site are not comfortable with. But I ultimately chose not to.

The problem with ASSTR is, two words: Child Erotica. There are stories there featuring activities that MOST people on ANY site are not okay with. Now as much as I don't like to judge other people, I cannot, and WILL not, associate with any erotic story site that accepts such a thing as a valid category. Not only because of my personal ethical considerations, but because of the possibility of authorities shutting it down- and writers there becoming subject to prosecution simply because they posted a story there; becoming unwitting collateral damage, so to speak.

This is like saying that any murder-mystery novel advocates murder. Or that thrillers advocate torture.

There is a difference between a rapists fantasy and a rape fantasy. Until, that is, you get to the legalities. In neither case is it real and thus not the act itself. This applies to all areas which some people squick over.

Well that's true but, it is not without good reason that such stories are banned on this site. While there are certainly a lot of things people squick over, that is the one almost universal line that people are not okay with. In part, because it feeds into the fantasy of people who, lets just say, enjoy that stuff, and which might make it harder for them to resist the opportunity to fulfill it in real time. And also in part because, like with some free speech, that is also a line at which law enforcement authorities are likely to take a hard, zero tolerance stance against. Even with the most extreme hardcore fetishes out there, barring snuff, typically you are at least talking about consenting adults.

What you're saying is that even though no actual persons are involved and it's not real, it's bad because someone in real life might think that way?

1. Did you ever hear of those kids who murdered their schoolmate because of slender man? Real thing. A couple of teen girls murdered another teen girl and claimed they did it because of a fictional character.

Under your theory of selective publication, all murder movies and novels should be immediately banned because someone might (actually 2 did) do it in real life.

2. Have you ever heard of the Cesar Augustus Marriage Laws?

Kind of disproves your point about how it pushes everyone buttons universally.
