You can do it! Check in every day to report on your progress!

Progress:

Chapter 1 ~ First Time (appropriately): 10k words, draft complete
Chapter 2 ~ Interracial: 9.8k, draft complete
Chapter 3 ~ Non-con: 4.2k, draft complete
Chapter 4 ~ E&V: 7.5k, draft complete
Chapter 5 ~ Group: 6.1k, draft 70% (need to do the big sex scene)
Chapter 6 ~ Mature: 5.7k, draft 40ish% (lotsa plot and sex and all kindsa stuff to go in this one)
Chapter 7 ~ (no spoilers): 1.5k draft 30%

Going to work on it now. Think I'm going to take stock of chapter 6 and start fleshing out more scenes.

Read through my City of Scum WIP. 8k words and it’s pretty good. Problem is, I can’t remember where I wanted it to go. I’ve got a prophecy that threatens the throne, some magic, an evil tax collector, and a shape-shifting whore. All I need is the rest of the story.

Evil tax collector is blackmailing the whore. He is trying to force her to take the shape of the queen, who he really wants to fuck. What he doesn't realize is that as soon as she breaks, it will fulfill the prophecy, unlocking a magic that is far more powerful than changing her physical appearance. The tax collector is actually being manipulated by one of the few people that know about the prophecy, who want to supplant the rightful rulers.

I have committed, publicly, to finishing the story I started last year for Pink Orchid. It will be my first Sci-Fi piece. I went back and re-read what I have written. I need to strip all of the IP stuff out of it, because IRL I want to write for that IP, so I can't really have a piece of erotica set in that universe floating around with the MC's name in it. I also need to write the rest of the story, which will be probably 15-20k words.

Thanks. That’s good but the whore only changes into a cat. The tax collector murdered her mother and burned down the whorehouse. I’ve implied it was to find the prophecy and a journal that went with it. He had plans for the whore, but she shifted and got away. The pieces I remember are that the shapeshifter’s grandmother, also a whore, got pregnant by the current kings father making Kit, the MC, of Royal blood. Damn, I wish I’d made notes…

I'm committed to finishing up my tamandua Valentine's Day contest entry by January 25. I finally got a satisfactory beginning after a few false starts. I've written about 15k and scrapped 10k so far. So, you know...

Ideally, I'd like the RD done by the end of next weekend so it shows up on the list before it gets overly crowded. And also to give me time in case I come up with another idea I want to pump out for the contest. Don't have one at the moment, but you never know when inspiration will strike.

Currently at ~5700, shooting for 1k - 2k a day. We'll see how it goes.

You can do it, we all believe in you!

Just finished reading it, and I think it works. It's only 1.6k words on a total of 12.8k, and a chunk of that is winding up the "adventure" part of the story. The rest is balancing out the emotional/relationship aspect.

I'll do a Read Aloud tomorrow morning, and then upload it.
Submitted! Whew!

Watch this space for the next damn story I need to finish!
Next damn story: "My Wife the Witch", for @Omenainen's Pink Orchid challenge.

I could use a thread like this.

From April to October, I was happily writing episodes of an ongoing series about a couple just starting the swinging/hotwife lifestyle, with minor breaks for other things. But the plot going in a direction I didn't plan coincided with a bigger break for other reasons, and I haven't been able to restart. I've written 1,600 words I'm happy with in Part 12 of that series. I've also written 2,400 words I'm unhappy with in that series before I figured out the new direction and 16,000 words of three other stories. I didn't want to leave that series half-done, but I also couldn't find a way to get the ending I had in mind and have it remotely make sense. Plot bunnies multiplied. One from an old story, two others from the Story Ideas forum. One of them will definitely be my longest work here so far; another could be an episodic series with more twists and turns than anything I've ever written. How does providing resolution to something in progress compare to that?

Well, just reading this led me to do that editing in Part 12, and decide to prioritize one of those works in progress over the other two. I'm definitely getting something out this month.

A success. Of sorts. I was uncharacteristically productive yesterday, writing several google docs pages of a new series that I want to finish before I submit the first chapter.

Aaaand, I didn't start any new stories during that time!

Writing on my new Erotic Coupling story... was trying to come up with a witty ending. Think I may have actually found one. This is a helpful thread. lol

This is the kind of positive energy we need! Keep it up, and don't forget to encourage others too!

Lately I've struggled to finish any of my stories. In the past three and a half months, I've only published a single 750-worder. Even this past week, with a 10k sword & sorcery story almost finished, I just haven't been able to get the final scenes done.

I doubt I'm the only one here who could use a bit of support and encouragement, or tough love if necessary. The kick up our arse to stop faffing about and finish the damn thing.

I'm not sure how this should work. Maybe post something like "I'm determined to finish this story, and I'm going to write 300 words every day and report on my progress." Or "I've set myself a deadline for a week from today, please remind me as often as you can that it's getting closer." Or whatever works for each of us.

The point is to help other writers keep going when their energy/excitement/inspiration runs out. Not so much with writing suggestions as just with encouragement and discipline.
