I wish it was a minority. Unfortunately minority or majority they seem to hold sufficient sway that the US social norm is one of the most sexually repressed nations on the planet save for the muslim nations. Japanese TV has sexually explicit programs as well as most of Europe. Things that are only on late night HBO here are evening prime time in other countries.

The militant feminazis are interesting point. Often gay they promote oral sex between females but frown on male oral sex with females bashing males. Everyone has an agenda

Its funny that, they don't mind sexually explicit television but are surprisingly strict when it comes to pornography - they must see some thin line between different ideas of entertainment. England only very recently allowed the sale of hardcore porn - and even now you can only (legally) buy it in licensed sex shops.

Well I am a feminist too and single parent-- raising two daughters and a son to be feminist-- but I think that there is a valid distinction between feminism and the femi-nazi mentality which actually turns some away from valid feminst causes. Or gives others already so inclined to find a reason to discount its validity.

I mentioned that simply because of a movie put out some years ago about feminist movement that put down males for oral sex desires yet at the same time propogated the female oral sex which I found in the end distracted from some otherwise valid feminist statements and turned the film into a propaganda film. I regret that I don't remember the name of the film. Was an underground film circulating in the Bay area in the 70's shown in homes primarily and widely touted by some segments of lesbian crowd. ( They say your memory is the second thing to go...and I dont remember what the first was.)

I also did not mean to imply that I was anti feminist because I am certainly not and try very hard to reflect that in my writings. Even if something is not my cup of tea I think everyone is entitled to their own, what ever makes them happy. I am not gay but have good friends that are, both male and female and it does not distract one iota from who they are as people, in my humble opinion.

I think the distinction in Japanese society is between nudity and sex as best I can determine. The one show I saw on HBO that talked about TV programs around the world...The Japanese one had total nudity on TV but was not specifically sexually oriented.

In the US we are so hung up that even nudist colonies are considere abnormal.

I remember when the stage production in Los Angeles of "HAIR" ----was going on and one of cast runs down the aisle nude ---- a lady cried out ---- "Beat her shes naked!" . True story. While it is comical in one sense it is terribly sick in another and shows the depth of the paranoid psychosis that exists out there.

Not sure I follow you completely here....

I fully support women / feminists that think they can make a differrence. I think there are a lot of women in history that bucked the "norm" and made a significant difference both for women and for men. I strongly encourage my daughters to go out and make a difference in the world and not settle for the stereo typical box that is foisted upon them by society.

Women should expect no less than equal pay for their work and instead they average 30% less than men. I find that abominal in an alleged civlized society in the year 2003.

My oldest daughter throws a better football spiral than 95% of the guys and is more accurate in hitting her target, but she cannot play football because it is a "guys" sport. Everyone that has seeen her is awed and it is obvious she throws a better spiral than the high school quarterback hands down. It cheats not only her, but the team itself to deprive her to play. She has managed to play coed adult flag football with parks and recreation and her team won first place with her quarter backing.

When we put women under glass ceilings or confine them to preconceived boxes we not only cheat them, we cheat society on the whole. Hooray for women that make a difference....God love 'em. I sure do.

The femi-nazi to me is the counter part of the machismo male chauvinist. Extreme to the opposite end of the scale and to be chastised equally for their narrow thinking.

Radical feminists, male chavinist pigs, Christian fundamentalists, Muslim fundamentalists, extreme enviormentalists, the anti- abortion lobby, the anti-porn lobby, those gays who publicly "Out" people, Looney left liberals. They all have one thing in common and that is they are extremists. Fanatically devoted to a cause, there is no room in their minds for compromise, no charity, forgiveness or understanding. It dosen't matter what view they expouse, they are all evil and dangerous.

A free society operates on the tenet that you are free to do whatever you choose, until that freedom of action infringes up on another's freedom. The old expresion is, your freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins. These people don't care about your rights, the constitution, declaration of independece, the rule of law, or reason. They are unconcerned with anything that dosen't advance their goal of forcing their view on everyone. In short they are facists.

The world would be a better place if we could get them all into a big room together, provide them with weapons and shut the door while all the sane moderates took the day off.

I am sort of partial to it myself. It is so nice to imagine what a different place the world would be if people were content to live their lives and let others around them live theirs. If you don't like porn, don't read it. If you don't like abortion, don't have one, if you think premarital sex is bad, wait till you are married, but if your neighbor loves hustler, that his affair, if your neice gets an abortion, it's her life, if your best freind is screwing the football team wish her well and give condoms for christmas.

Idealist I am, but if you think about it for a few moments, it seems to me thats the way we should be and that 90% of the worlds problmes come from one person sticking their nose into someone elses bussiness.

Racial tension? Where is that if no one is trying to mind everyone else's bussiness. It seems most racial tension comes from the 10% of whites who fully intend to keep the races separate and the 10% of minorites who demand that 10% of whites conform. The rest of us just get dragged into their little tiff. Personally, I don't care if my black neighbor is screwing a white girl, a black girl a hispanic, asian or all of the above at once. He parks his car in his parking space, says hello when we meet at the mail box, turns his music down to an acceptable volume after 8:00 and even jumped my car off for me once. Thats a good neighbor as far as I can see.

Religion? Same deal. If you want to take the KJ1611 as the literal word of god, be my guest. If you want to take the Koran or the Talmud or the book of Mormon as the whole truth it shouldn't be a problem for me or anyone else. The problem comes when those who take their religion seriously try to cram it down the throats of people who have other views.

If we could just get rid of the people who don't seem to be happy unless they are making other's miserable just think of how wonderful this old world could be.

About the issue on feminism...

I am greatly disturbed by the feminists that think that ALL girls can compete with the guys. Sure some girls are excellent at sports, math, science or automobiles, but what about the more traditional ones like sewing, baking, etc. Most (like a barely most) prefer to do the traditional things. And there isn't the resistance from the guys. A lot of geeky guys would like to see more girls into math or science or computers.

And then there is the other side of the coin. Most guys struggle through English and Social and such. What about this?

That's a popular misconception, the Japanese are very liberal when it comes to sex. Adam, my hubby, who is half Japanese, has visited Japan many times. He had his eyes opened wide during his teens, they actually have vending machines in the street selling comdoms and even porn magazines. The Japanese are very at ease with their own sexuallity, and are not afraid to express it. It's true that the older generations are a little stricter, but even they are extremely kinky behind closed doors.

Perhaps Mike (Otherdarkmeat) will add a little more here, he's also half Japanese, and knows an awful lot about this subject. Adam and Mike are also big fans of Anime (Manga, Hentai, etc), those animations are about as explicit as it gets.

Personally, I think the underage sex thing is a writing problem. Spelling out a character's age in birthdays is on a par with describing a woman's breasts by giving cup size. If you're a decent writer you should be able to convey age without resorting to numbers. After all, what's exciting? The fact that the character's only had 16 birthday parties? Or the fact that they act and think and look a certain way that we associate with that age? Is there really such a number fetish out there that we just have to put in that figure to give the story some spark?
