Insomniacs Unite (by request)

Yawning incessantly without the ability to fall asleep, is a bitch.

Where do you live?

In Fairbanks, the sun comes up around 11:00 and goes down around 3:00.

In the summer, it stays up all night. We dont see stars from may to august.

Talk about insomnia...i once went three weeks with only an hour of sleep a night....i was seeing things....

even in Barrow, where the sun sets in Nov and does not come up again until Feb/march, they have a dusky time, about three hours worth.

the furtherest north i have been is sptizbergen norway....it is totally dark there, 24 hours a day...that was strange
lol i live in the woods whwre it snows every day from dec til march....nothing compared to all that^

I want some sleep. Some zzzz's. Some somnolence. I'll even take the damn nightmares if I have to. Please. I'll give up the rebel base, the ewok steaks, the whole damn freakin' green moon of Endor. I'll even give you Han Solo, and his cute butt. Just let me sleep please.

So did you make it through A&P?

That was one of my worst classes to have to try and stay awake though - 0730 T R ... blech ... at least I didn't have the 0730 lab section either semester. The only class that was worse was my first Gen Chem - at 0800 and it was the same class that I took in high school ... and the professor made the mistake of saying on the first day that he taught that he didn't care if we paid attention, he just wanted us there. I slept through every day that we didn't have a test and still only missed a total of 5 points the whole semester :D

Anyway, back on topic. I can't really do my 'up at night, sleep in the day' thing today, because I have an eye doctor appointment tomorrow at 1330, and it's 2.5 hours away (I have special contacts and he is the closest doctor who will deal with them), so I have to be awake during the day ... unfortunately, I was drowsy earlier, and kind of dozed a bit ... and now I'm wide awake again :(

Ow, ow, ooowwwwww. Fucking pain meds, WORK! 3:00, and you'd think that what they gave me would work faster than this, I've been up a freaken hour now, waiting. JUST SHOOT ME.

Well, knowing that I was starting to look like a sasquatch, and that shaving everything is normally exhausting for me, I decided to shave last night and see if that would help me get to sleep ...

It didn't, although it did give me a new appreciation for those grippy matts that you put down in showers ...

So I finally got to sleep after a good deal of meditaion, and prayer. And guess what, the fucking cat wakes the baby. If it weren't for the fact that Elizabeth would be totally traumatized, we'd be having cat stew for dinner tonight. So guess who's awake now? It sure isn't the baby, he went back to sleep. ARG  I give up.

I'm so sorry grace ... this is, however, why we have a room that is offlimits to all the animals - if and when we ever decide to have children, that room will be come the nursery, because the cats and dog already know that it's off limits (although it doesn't stop the Mia-monster from trying to dash in there every chance she gets ... at least the dog has learn *pats the puppy*)

I have no idea how he got in his room. Generally the cats are not allowed in the kids rooms. I have horrible images of the cat deciding to sleep on one of their faces and me coming in to a dead child in the morning. *shudders* I know that they're old enough now that it probably wouldn't happen, but I can't sleep worrying about it, so . . . Either way, damn cat must have snuck in and hid. Tonight he sleeps outside. Teach him to wake D up.

December to March?

Try Sept/Oct to April/May!

But dont take that as a complaint...my life would be easier in other places, but not as beautiful.

Does it count as insomnia this early at night? I mean, I'm running on about 6 fractured hours in the past 3 days, so I was going to go to bed early. But I have the ceiling all memorized and I'm out of stuff to read here.

Totally does. My peak sleep hours are 9-11 AM now. Up is down.

the best i ever slept was after a three week trip to russia. It is a 12 hour time difference, which was wonderfully convenient, but the best part was i slept incredibly well when i got back. the combination of not sleeping there, and getting back to my home cycle was perfect....

i should go every year....for three weeks i had no sleep problems
