...When you read these posts for personal ads, do you think they are sincere?

There seems to be predominantly one or two line personal ads/responses out there...

...now, I have lived this lifestyle for 19 years total

...How many people actually think bdsm'ers on LIT take their D/s quest serious?

I'm not being judgmental of LIT peeps, but I'm wondering if others agree?

I am guilty of only having a line or two on my "ad", however I am much more comfortable waiting to discuss things with anyone that replies in a more private arena. Sure, the majority of people will not like that, but then, the one I am looking for will take that step into the unknown.

I met my SO here through a Lit personal. We've been together for almost 2 years.

I know of a number of similar stories, and many people on the BDSM section of the board are out there doing it in real life.

I am not looking for SO, I have ex, present and potential future one lined up already
I am not looking for primarily D/s relationship either.

If I bump into someone appropriate for whatever I am in mood for at that moment I am very sincere about getting the best out of them, including eventual meeting and trying all the interesting things we might come up with.

I dont know about others and quite frankly I dont care. They get filtered soon enough :D

...When you read these posts for personal ads, do you REALLY believe people are sincere? I seriously question it.

...now, I have lived this lifestyle for 19 years total (and am currently little girl/sub/slave-less, so wtf do I really know? haha) and when I have the time to sit down and write an intelligent 'personal ad' or reply, then I will... but until then, I will be content with my brief intros, rantings, and quirky comments...

...Or is this just a cleverly disguised personal ad? :D ;)

No, either they're consciously lying or maybe they think they know what they want, but they really don't.

Haha... Perhaaaps *said with an evil grinning tone* haha

-For all those who commented, its certainly refreshing to know that wonderful relationships CAN be made through here. The reason I started this poll was because as I skimmed through some of the ads, a few were well done but most seemed rushed and done without thought or care - but everyone has their own style so...

Anyway, thanks to all who gave their opinions!

The overwhelmingly VAST number of BDSM personal ads on Literotica are written by totally clueless, Horny Net Geeks who want to get their wick wet, nothing more. They use the trappings of BDSM to pose as Dominants or submissives, or Masters or slaves, but have no real desire to develop a meaningful power exchange relationship.

They want kinky sex.

*shrug*

They are probably sincere in their desire for kinky one-night stand sex, but NOT with a desire to develop a relationship. The lucky few that have met their SO and had a long term relationship grow have mostly met them through the Forums where they can have conversations and see how each other think and feel on a number of issues. Very, VERY few have success with personal ads.

Geoff,

Thanks for your reply. That makes a lot of sense and I'm glad to hear your opinion since it comes from LIT experience (I've seen you on here for years).

If the advertisers are 'clueless', then you really have to wonder what the vast majority of respondents rate as.

At least it is clear that there is some genuine driving force behind the ads even when this is poorly expressed or rates, according to some of the toffee-nosed among us, as 'kinky sex' requests.

The motivation of many respondents ranges from rank insincerity to simple, plain unpleasantness of various types.

I see no need to sling mud and the whole tone of the OP is indeed 'judgemental'.

I think many are sincere about what they want.

I was sincere when I put up my ad. I've since changed my mind because circumstances in my life have changed. That doesn't change the fact that I was absolutely sincere when I placed it and I intend to keep talking to those who responded even if I am a bit busy right now.

BDSM encompasses so much. We always talk crap about the people who are only in it for kinky sex. I don't see that as some sort of terrible thing. That is a major part of my relationship with my Owner. I like submitting to him sexually and he likes dominating me sexually, and we make it work. His influence runs over to other areas of my life as well. Just because my submission is different than the pain-loving girl, doesn't make me any less sincere because I like kinky sex.

Some people may also not understand the dynamic as well as others. We all have our interpretations. Misunderstanding isn't insincere. And some of those so-called Doms with the long, thoughtful, make-your-heart-melt-and-your-girlparts-drip-at-his-words ads can be a totally insincere pussy collector.

Thank you all for your feedback.. it is refreshing that sincerity DOES exist here more often than just as a rarity.

Associations can make fun game.
MoM for me is Mines of Moria, latest LotRO expansion.

As with any online community, there will always be the forum trolls looking for a quick hookup. But as many have said, I have to believe many are sincere in their search...even if it is only to learn if it is right for them.

hehe well said.

:cattail:

I have found that Literotica has more genuine members than the vast majority of internet communities. That being said, the percentage of those looking for a real life sustained relationship is still likely in the single digits. That is not to denigrate those who have a sincere thirst for knowledge and exploration. Is that not fundamental to the nature of a forum from the start?
