Is this the coat closet for the GB?

I had a habit of wrecking my down filled items. The shells were too fragile. Down robe and slippers, down sweater, down coat. Light weight down comforter had shell as fragile as a bubble. Without a duvet, it was almost weghtless.

I switched to a sheepskin lined coat. Heavy, but took much abuse. I borrowed My Ogre Husbans new sheepskin lined bomber jacket too much. He gave me one that was well worn in. Could move freely in that one. He started missing it, and gave me a new one. Good for windy days. Not really made for a woman with breasts.L.L. Bean changed the construction. The sleeves were no longer lined with sheepskin.

:(

I spend mornings in either a drizabone or a lightweight but hideous puffy shell jacket I can ruin freely and washes well ( not to loom good but to smell better) over a puffy jerkin. 0ver fleece pyjamas. I have found nothing better for barn work. They layer well, dry super fast are really warm and make me work fast. I hate overalls.after yard work is over and I am clean through winter I have lived in my ? Faux) fur coat. I have been looking for my Burberry for spring but cannot find it, but bought a secondhNd trench coat in a charity shop last week, it fits better than my Burberry would 😳. It's warm enough to wear it already.

My best friend said she would kill me if I change the buttons for steam punk ones :(

It's so warm here that I don't even need a coat. Too bad too because I love outerwear. I have several, a very nice London Fog bomber type jacket I've had for years, mostly hangs in the closet. I have a 3/4 length windbreakerish jacket with a corduroy collar that I treat with campdry for the rare times I'm in the rain. I have various hoodie-type things but the only real usable coats for me are armored moto jackets. For the summer I have an Icon Anthem II textile and then when it is colder I have a Furygan Brutale Evo 2 leather.

Drizabone makes an oilskin 3/4 drover that I am coveting now, just to have I suppose.

Lucky enough to find ski trousers with Omni heat dots lining. Keeps the damp out and the heat in. I can wade in thigh high snow, and not get soaked or cold. Columbia makes them. I have North Face, but they do not compare.

I drool over wool lined Burberry trench coats when I window shop. *sigh* It would only get stolen.

Traveling to all parts of the state at any time of the year, one has to have an array of jackets, from a polar parka to a lightweight windbreaker that's nothing more than a mosquito barrier. Fashion is secondary to function.

My curiosity was piqued. I went to see what was going on with Burberry. It was a kick in the gut, to see that China ate Burberry, too.

If I went into the Burberry shop, I would not be holding the Burberry trenchcoat of my dreams in my hands.

My best friend of the time had purchased a Burberry before the Wall St. crash of 2007-2008. The stitching was immaculate. The details inside and outside, were a dream. The internal lining was a good padding of soft wool. Plenty of pockets. Your gloves would not fall out. The point of having a coat like that, is you could wear a dress and boots and not freeze. It was pricey enough. She was making plans for being a married lady. They had the stones, and were consulting about settings. I had a more humble marriage than she would have. We were still paying off the bills for his surgery. The house ate money as if it were a thirsty person drinking water. A coat like that was out of the question, at the time.

I did not know. I have admired Burberry all of my life. Now it is just an empty label with no thrill. All sizzle and no steak.

A new England closet has two seasons
Cold, wet
Warm, wet.

January thaw at the end of February. This is not a preview of March.

I was determined to adjust to the sudden and suprising rise in temperature. I reduced my layers. I still found myself steaming gently in the sun. The sun went down, while three busses failed to arrive. An hour at the bus stop, and my fingers and toes turned to icicles. My nose was sunburned.(I kept a scarf in my back pack, with heavier gloves. My wool hat was tucked in my coat.)

Day Two

Looked at my anorak. Looked at my snow proof coat.
I wore my light snow pants with feminine long underwear.
Stuck with my snow proof. It was breezy, today.
There is still a half foot of compacted snow and thick ice paches in my yard.
I was in town, and I tied my fleece sweater around my waist.
It felt like 70F.
I came home. The snow and ice are still there.

For the young women of Boston, all of the sexy, body hugging clothes went back into the closet.I feel for them. Patience is needed.

I ran home, because the ice, snow, and road salt had eaten though the rawhide that laced my footwear into a wearable boots. I loved how the fringe would swing when I walked. That was decades, ago. Young ladies swing their legs, and swing their fringes. Theirs are weather appropriate. Mine were not. I could feel the contours of the earth under my feet as I walked through the park.

With windchill, it will feel like zero, this weekend. I looked for a coat filled with silver dots. (they reflect our body heat.) All sold out for the season.

Poofy coat, will do. Poofy hood. My Ogre Husband has a nick in his ear. He learned his lesson. He wore headbands that covered his ears, after the cold claimed a piece of his ear.

Merrill boots with the Arctic Grip sole might be nice for Boston.

Ah, I was reminicing about high school. The last time I was foolish about winter wear. The boots the college and uni girls wear are similar to what I wore, but much more practical for winter.

I will have to take a look. Maybe I will like those soles, better. I like the soles that have ice grips built into the sole, but I have not seen any at the brick and mortar.

I bought mine at REI.

I am having a hard time with my back button, I guess.

Nope. Not going outside in the nice new snow. They were talking about today, when they talked about wind chill. Steady wind, with over 50mph gusts.

Blow the body heat right off of your skin. Wear your wicking long underwear and puffy coat.

I have not been to the Harvard Square REI since last winter.

So odd, today. It stopped snowing, and went outside to scrape the snow off. There was a hint of tropical warmth in the breeze. It was so cold, today, the snowfkakes were teeny tiny.I had my Uggs on all day, but my feet never got warm. When I opened the door to look at what I had to shovel, I felt the warmth.

22F,on this night. Need a coat, now.

Arctic airmass in place with 850 temps lowering to -24c and 925 mb
temps down to -20c! Brutally cold for almost mid March with highs
only recovering to 15-20 degs tomorrow afternoon, low 20s along the
South Coast including Cape Cod and the islands. These values will be
near record cold highs for the day. See climate section below for
specifics. Leaned toward the coldest guid given the anomalous
airmass.

If will feel even colder given blustery west-northwest winds up to 45 mph
yielding wind chills during the daylight hours of -5f to +5f! Down
right nasty for March 11th.

Brrrrrrr

Two days of very pleasant temperatures. I feel sad for the people wearing flip flops, and the women in their very sexy high heels, flashing foot flesh and pretty toe nails.

Deep, windy cold, tomorrow, and this weekend.Somewhere in Massachusetts, the wind chill will make it feel like 0f.

Snow. *sigh* A butterfly cannot reverse the process of unrobing itself of the cocoon. But, I must put the layers back on, if I want to be outside.
