Move to a non-"battleground" state and your mailbox will shed pounds faster than a young Miss Universe being chased around her gym by a fat old orange-haired buffoon.

Years ago I was visiting a friend in New Hampshire a couple weeeks before their annual presidential primary. A survey call came in over the house phone, which went immediately onto speaker mode. Her played with that poor survey-taker's head so much I thought we might hear the explosion. :D. They kept a tally of political survey calls on the refrigerator that year and that was number 51 or something like that.

That many calls is just wrong.

I suspect we would get more calls if we had a house phone. This was a call to my cell which makes me very uncomfortable. Politically I think this state is fucked. :(

I think ALL the states are fucked.

Your state, sadly, has been post-coital since 1998, at least.

I have hope for Virginia. We went blue in 2012, and Kaine's on the Dem ticket.

Along the lines of diagnoses....

My daughter was diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder today :(....

It's been the looming elephant in the room for a while now. She's always been behind in her developmental milestones. She's a few months past two and has yet to say her first word. We saw the neurologist today that just confirmed our fears. Until now everyone just said "delayed, she's just delayed. She just needs some extra help." Now she'll be seeing a behavioral therapist, speech therapist, and occupational therapist.

I'm giving myself today, and only today to be sad and upset about it. I need to lace up my momma bear boots and get ready to claw and fight for her.

Dearest MD,
You may feel like giving yourself today to be sad and upset is going to be enough but it won't be. It's been over a year for me and while I claw and fight, you can bet your ass there are days that I lock myself away and cry. Usually it's a particular bad day. Or like Sunday, when I see my friend's "normal" kids so much younger than my son doing things he has yet to do. Wednesday we spent an hour lecturing on autism and I sat there and let tears silently run down my face because they talk so matter of fact about it and everything they say I have a video in my mind of my son doing whatever behavior is being talked about.
I have told you before I am here for you if ever you need it, and my dear, I think now would be the time. I'm going to message you my number. Please use it.

And MD, like Elle and others have said, this is going to give you the tools to be a great family. You will learn so much now that you know what's going on. You will find new tools. <3

I woke up with a ridiculously strong urge to go somewhere. Travel a little. I just don't know where to go and who with. Annoying.

I arrived at hospital half an hour ago. G arranged for her to go to one of the nicer hospitals I sometimes go to, she is staying with us for the weekend....or so.

I got here and she said...

" your coat is too short for that dress".

i left home ages before sun rise. My coat is the warmest coat I have.

Your retort should have been

"you know I'm taking care of you after this surgery don't you?"

Cataracts? She'll be happier when it's done. And remember, patience is.......... oh, I forgot the rest!

Oh, MD,any hugs! Like others have said, as scary as it might be to think of what's ahead, you've made the next step in the fight.

Much love!

I agree with collar, it's a great parenting call.

........

My mother has a cateract surgery tomorrow. G asked if I were worried about it for her, I expressed mild surprise and said at least someonegets to gouge at her eye tomorrow.

Not so sweet Elle, huh?:eek:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about family sometimes.

What would you all guess my hair colour is?
