Lifeguard326: Only one time did I convert one photograph from color to black and white. Actually, I was initially trained in black and white film fine art photography, both studio and natural lighting. I dabbled a bit in color. That being established, I have found time and time again that color photographs convert poorly into black and white. When framing for black and white, values and contrast are important; they, however, are not something I look for in color images. For color images, hues are my priority. When converting color to black and white, two different hues can have the same or similar value, which means that the images loses a lot of its dimensionality. Because of that, I prefer not to alter the color of any of my images. If you want to, be my guest, but everything I upload is a self portrait (unless otherwise specified) and NOT edited (except to be resized). This gives you the purist document possible, especially if you want to make your own changes to them. I hope that makes sense!
