seems to me that epstein, just like trump as a businessman, did all he could to make sure he got as many high-value 'names' into his circle, whether it was in using his private plane or to his gatherings and the more sordid sex parties. it built his cred, he had material for persuading people in business, material to blackmail if necessary.
that's not to say all those people knew the extent of epstein's vileness, but it's perfectly credible to assume many did. just like back in the jimmy saville case, he could only get away with what he did for so long because of the co-operation of others... turning a blind eye, deliberately not reporting what they knew or what they, themselves, were involved with, maybe for fear of repercussions to themselves and their families. and then there are those who reported events that got brushed under the carpet. ALL of those people who helped cover up epstein's sex trafficking and 'alleged' rapes are part and parcel of this.
it's arguable that some of the top names were there (plane/non-salacious parties) simply to boost epstein's 'frontage' and never witnessed his depravity. it's feasible to believe many did and did nothing about it.
was obama ever 'invited'? if so, he seems to have refused since his name has never been linked with epstein, so far as i am aware. if he refused due to insider knowledge, then he should have spoken out, too. same goes for all of them, all of those 'big names'. i'm not saying obama had inside knowledge... just seems strange that epstein's love of touting top drawer names didn't stretch to including invitations to obama. unless, of course, it was that whole 'black' issue and trump's friendship.... would trump's long-term patronage trump epstein's avarice to have obama's name right there on his guest list?
NONE of these abusers get as far as they do without being aided and abetted by others.
