Justice League: The New Wave (OOC - Interest Check)

Yes, let's have a discussion about that.

I have a number of suggestions but I'm much more interested in seeing you guys concoct a workaround. :cattail:

Have an idea for Velocity. She knows this Barrier extends into not just this spectrum but all spectrum's making it virtually impossible to cross even for a speedster.

However maybe she could try to heat part of it up by vibrating it, thus making it glow, sort of like sending up a flare. People inside can spot it and a magical portal can be opened by Raven, Rider, Kiz.

Just a thought and don't know if this is viable.

I think given the strength of the force field, you would be much more likely to just ignite the air around Velocity rather than raise the temperature of a patch of the field itself.

You could, hypothetically, have Velocity vibrate so hard that she starts creating her own disruption of local spacetime just like the field is, and that would be like dropping a pebble into a pond, you'd create ripples in the fabric of the field itself and people with sufficiently advanced senses would perceive those ripples and backtrace them to their source. However, that would be a Hell of a vibration, like, verging on falling into The Speed Force kind of vibration even if she was standing still. So we could play that card, but I don't know if Velocity's powers are that advanced yet? What do you think?

No she is not anywhere near that yet. So that sort of thing would be out of the question. She still hasn't even mastered vibrating through objects yet. LOL

Heh.

I really do hate to burst your bubble, that was a pretty outside-the-box suggestion and I would not have thought of it, but Luthor just suggested this shield might be nuke-proof-- you would need a heck of a microwave to warm that sucker up. :/

No that's all good. That's what discussions are for. :)

Hmm now she does know the tachyon trail and obviously they are not bringing the dome down when the use their teleporter's to teleport out.

She doesn't have sufficient control to move and maintain the frequency through the barrier yet but perhaps she could vibrate at that frequency, G.R.I.D. could scan it and either adjust radio frequency to compensate so communication through the barrier is possible, or (and I don't know if he has the capability) create a portal/doorway through it.

I don't believe that G.R.I.D. could create a portal-- the Footstep and Hyperdrive systems are the sole province of the currently-landlocked Mothership --but I don't see why G.R.I.D. and Lysl couldn't scan Velocity's vibration frequency and derive a communication protocol. Indeed, G.R.I.D. might be able to then use The Scan Visor through the dome and be able to give him and his compatriots outside the dome a better idea of what's going on inside?

Zet, what do you think?

Another idea could be to have some Rogues making a last stand against Kobra near there, perhaps thinking that if they could just get the attention of the people outside they'd be safe? This could pull the people inside to that place.

I'm afraid you've already got all the Rogues you're gonna get. :/

Might not be posting much today. Going to see the new Batman movie "The Killing Joke" this afternoon.

Will post more tonight.

Okay, Aussie, Tertius, and Zet.

Needing very little encouragement, let's be real, Heatwave has just sent up signal flares some ways north of your current location outside the dome.

It's totally up to you guys if you want to investigate that, or if you want to do the vibro-frequency thing-- once GRID's Scan Visor acquires that frequency, he would be able to scan within the field and isolate Static's commlink signal--

--either one would be a totally valid choice for your trio under the circumstances.

I am thinking as they have not discussed a plan yet, seeing the flares would be more in the probable scope of things.

Once inside G'R'I'D' should have no problems picking up Statics commlink signal and getting in touch with him that way.

My thinking was much the same but I did not want to unduly influence your choice!

Excellent.

Sooooo, running through a couple things.

Questions:
Boom Tubes did those ever replace Slideways as the form of teleportation the justice league used

communications are blocked by the dome completely correct?

Is the dome's origin coming from over or under the river? As in it isnt on either side of the river?

Comments:

Statics Communicator disc would be garbled as hell with all the interference. It effectively (in my head) was only really designed to recieve, process, and send information between similar devices such as Hardwares all relying on some sort of computer built by hardware that sorts through the garbled mess that the information normally is so that no one with a HAM radio can pick up on Static Radio.

I actually dont know if Static would carry around the Titan's communicator. I'll have to decide on that

I love luthor. so much. just....mmm....so good.

Boom Tubes are unknown to our Earth as yet, at least to the good guys. Darkseid is working very behind the scenes and the good guys shouldn't know he exists. New Genesis is either dead or as good as dead has been for long enough that we won't have met any of those guys either, or heard of them.

In this world, The League used zeta-beam tubes to transport to their now-gone Watchtower, which again would have been secret from anyone who wasn't a Leaguer while the Watchtower was in use. They did not use Slideways.

No signals would get in or out of the dome. But inside the dome they should work fine.

Is the dome's origin coming from over or under the river? As in it isnt on either side of the river?

It appears to be coming from immediately above the river between the two cities.

I had thought that even if Static didn't keep a T-Comm, which I doubted, he still would have access to their frequencies with his own communication tech. Digital encryption and advances on spread-spectrum tech should be sufficient to prevent Average Joe Citizens Band from listening in unless Static is specifically broadcasting to civilians.

Considering that Hardware made a shapeshifting suit of armor with its own limited AIOS, I would have thought any technology he gave Static would be self-sufficiently portable that it would work out of range of Hardware's switchboard. Hardware also makes things to last.

If the team is going to come together in such a way that you can all triumph and survive this, especially to become a bigger, badder Justice League as a result, you're going to need to start meeting up. I thought having Titans be able to talk to each other would help facilitate that, but if you don't think that fits with your concept I don't want to strong-arm you.

...not that I don't appreciate the response, but I'm intrigued by your emphasis. What is it about Luthor that you like so much?

It's the fact that no signal can get out that I think his communicator would be kinda useless. Sort of like a cellphone that's has no service. The disc itself wouldnt have been designed to be like a walkie talkie in my opinion.

Luther is ever so slightly sassy. And I don't know why but I get a good chuckle every time he explains something I imagine this super condescending voice like what he is explaining is the most obvious thing ever and that saying it is a drain on his precious time.

That seems like a glaring design flaw to me, but okay! Would it try to search for a signal, though, maybe pick up Raven's T-Comm that way?

This Luthor is largely based on the one from Young Justice the cartoon. So if that's the voice you hear for him, my portrayal has succeeded. Thank you!

Design flaw for something not designed to not leave the city. XD this is probably the first time in a long while he's actually left the city as static.

Also. His little jokes that are like: "hahahaha! Simpleton! Am I right?"

If I read the description right in the DC database, Static himself can pick up the radio waves and use his uniforms capabilities to translate the signal.

Radio Receiver: A wide-band radio receiver enables Static to scan radio traffic, especially police band transmissions.[4] He can also tune the receiver to pick up the unique radio signals transmitted by his tracking devices.[5]

The shield/Dome is what is scrambling communications to and from the cities inside to the outside world. I don't see why communications inside would be effected.

On a side note The Killing Joke was a brilliant movie. Brought back all the greats. Mark Hamill (The best Joker hands down), Kevin Conroy and Tara Strong.

See, this was along the lines I was thinking. Though Static himself might have a hard time picking up an individual signal in the noise of the secondary power grid being all lit up like Times Square, his devices should be able to tune in communications frequencies that are zinging and singing about under the dome.

But of course Wired is not beholden to the canon version of Static, it's his version of the character, he can cherry pick as he likes, that's part of the magic of this storyline.

But, as Ben Grimm might say, "here's my bit o' science:"

Even if Static's commlink can't, for whatever reason, pick up Raven's signal this far away from Hardware's hardware, my theory is that once G.R.I.D.'s Scan Visor gets a look around under the dome, the adaptive alien tech in his suit would still be able to ping Static's rig with a signal and connect with him that way. The GRID Armor could make up for the lack of Hardware's signal hub.

Wired, would that be acceptable?

The way I see the communicator is a lot like a set of walkie talkies in a way. He's talking on frequency B and doesn't even consider that a frequency A could exist or be helpful in this situation. Aka it isn't that he isn't expecting an ally like the teen titans there so he isn't looking.unless they deliberately try to contact him I doubt he'll notice

I'm totally cool with the GRID thing.

I get it. No worries.

Thank you for the compromise!
