LAUREL!!! i just had a brilliant idea!

I find it silly because there are already ways to not see the "slimebags".

I also think the group(s) that posts as the habitual "slimebags" would have no problem paying.

As I have pointed out several times, posting basic propaganda dozens of times daily for decades on a 24/7/365 basis is obviously not one person.

The GB is interesting in that topics other than sex are often discussed here. I've been a member of other forums on various news sites, and in every instance, when they threw up a paywall, the forum(s) died.

It's not about being cheap, like rae?? suggests.
I wouldn't mind throwing in the cost of a few coffees, every month.

It's about the tagging and tracing.
I don't want my bank or paypal or others to know what I've been up to, or read my posts.

bump. this idea is worthy of further exploration.

Here's a better idea:

This is a literary site so how about if Laurel changes the rules so that only those people who BUY a minimum number of stories PER YEAR from the other side of the site can post on the forums.

And you can only BUY 1 story per day.

$ .99 ought to be a good price per story. And you have to have purchased a dozen within a year before you can post.

Site members who publish stories get credit and don't have to purchase anything for that "membership year".

You willing to shell out your cash or sweat equity just to post on the forum?

That's actually a pretty stupid idea. Even for the low bar we set for you.

Seems to me that a free market ought to set the price of the commodity. If you're going to believe that Lit is a "valuable resource" you ought to be willing to pay for what you get.

Sweat equity or fees, choose your poison.

obviously SOMEBODY hasn't done his research if he's talking to me. you can search my name and find my stories...where are yours?

To the original proposal: I already provide product for free that pays for this site. If I got charged for using the site in any way, I'd pull everything and just continue with the other sites I use. I could see a system where those who didn't provide X number of stories each year for the site had to pay to post to the discussion board, though. That would clean out a lot of the parasitic drones here.

Hay, this was my idea FIRST. Go get yer ownsies. Grrr....

Probably on the same side of the site where yours are. :D

There's really not very many worthy stories posted on the site.

You, of course, have read them all to make that sweeping generalization, I assume. Do you have any stories posted to the site? What is your expertise in determining the worth of an erotica story? And, the kicker, have you actually read any stories on this site, or are you posting out of your ass?

Nope, you're just another one of the freeloaders here.

I like this idea. Those who are seriously here to read and/or write erotic literature would stick around, and those only here to stir the pot and/or spam the place with stupidity would be gone. Win-win.

I've read some and those I have read were not good. You "authors" here crack me up.

There are some gems you just have to look. I tend to use the story tags and not the categories or lists. Saves time and aggravation. A good story is subjective, using tags narrows the field to what interests you specifically.

I'm sure he/she has read some stories to be able to form an opinion.
And I'd be careful asking what expertise someone has with word porn, you might end up with a lot of jizz and dick jokes.
While stories do drive traffic the forums also attract people, especially the porn threads, which exposes them to the webcams, toy store, vod etc. Diversity is the key to business. But, ya, the stories are a top feature. Before you jump down my throat I've read many, many, many stories on here and quite a few were of the author's in the AH, I like to do a little research on the people I'm interacting with. There are some fabulous author's in the AH, but, as I've made abundantly clear before, reading is subjective, what you consider genius I might consider drivel. Yes, I've published stories on here, too. I took them down cuz a) I post regularly in the GB and b) I got sick of having to ask for a sweep. When I was hanging in the AH, every time I put a new story up I'd wait a month and ask for one. Just because you don't like the man doesn't mean you can't appreciate his art. After every sweep I ended up with that coveted red H. I got my Hs, validation enough for me. If I publish I publish under a different username. Everybody's experiences are different.

in that case, then the first part of your question is covered for both of us. as to the second part, did you somehow miss that i'm the one who originally proposed a fee?
