Rumors were abound in the castle town of Murasawa. Lord Takeda Yoshimoto was a bit strange compared to other ruling Samurai. Few outside of the inner castle ever saw his face and when he did travel outside he wore his full armor. When he was younger he had not been as reclusive, but when his wife had died and left him without an heir he changed. Many wondered why he would not take another wife, but none were willing to ask. Due to his absence from the community there were always rumors about him, but the latest one people only dared speak of in hushed tones.
Supposedly one of the rural farmers had fallen into deep debt and Lord Yoshimoto was taking their daughter in exchange. The Samurai already had servants and scribes for his home and could acquire more by normal means if he had needed them, so everyone was left to wonder why he was doing this and who she really was.

Takeda sat by the pond in his private garden. He wore a simple green kimono and sandals. At 5’11” he was taller than most of the villagers, but somehow managed to not be imposing. His expression was always serene and at the moment he wore a soft smile as he watched the fish.
“We’ve brought her, my lord.”
“And I’m sure you were rougher than necessary. Bring her out to me. I’m sure she’ll be nervous so bring us some tea.”
“My lord, I know it is not my place to ask, but why did you want her?”
Takeda Yoshimoto turned, but looked past his servants at some lilacs to his left. “If I had the time to dedicate to it I would review our lesson on humility with you. Instead, please just do as I have asked.” Without another word the servant bowed and left trying to not to show how nervous he had just become in that moment.
