Legend Of Zelda: Future Atonement

Link closed his eyes, exhaled, breathed in deeply once more, then began to relate to them his two dreams.

"The first nightmare I had was shortly after I recieved your message Zelda. In it, I heard something, turned around, and was stabbed in the belly by something."

His eyes scrunched together even more, as he remembered the more detail... and horrifying dream that just transpired.

"The one that Jinx awoke me from was similar to the other, only this time, I could see my surroundings..... mountains, and I was standing over a cliff that looked over a canyon with a river far below it. I was holding my ground against some man... his face was blurred out by some shadows, but I could see his hair, which was graying... and the way he stood suggested that he was a hyrulian and not another of the noble races. He batted my sword away as if he was swatting the hand of a child with his hand in the cookie jar. Then.... he rammed this... this.... spear??? No.... trident, into my stomach. I looked down in horror," his eyes tearing up again "I swear, I could feel the warmth of my blood spill onto my hands as I held the staff. Then, with inhuman strength, he hoisted me up on it like a rag doll, the tossed me over as if I was trash."

He was trying to be brave, after all, it was nothing more than a dream, but it felt so damn real.... he couldn't help but cry again. He knew he was only being a coward doing so... the protector of Zelda shouldn't cry like a baby.

She could have been using lipstick, it probably would have hurt the creature more. Zurn held onto his own position, unsure how to get closer without a spiralling tendril to come out of nowhere to knock him down.
He didn't understand the power of the monster, or the skill he possesed. A thing of beauty motioning in the water, deadly, yes, but beauitiful nontheless.
Pity.
He waited, his sword flashing an icy smile at the closest arms that came out to grab him. In a moment he leapt up into the air, the blade slicing down.
Zurn dove into the water, and the piece of giant monster hand flopped onto the water next to him, blood tainting the water. Zurn tasted it, a foul coppery hint that almost made him puke.
He pulled himself onto another platform, determined to repeat the procedure. The way the monster reacted though, he didn't want it repeated.
"Do you have anything practical? A bow and arrow perhaps? Something that can slice through his thick hide...."

IC: I pounded again and again to the ignoreing creature. His fleshy hide protecting him completely. Zurn was haveing much better results. His sword cut off one tenticle. The creature seemed more focused on him now. That would be a good thing for me, unless Zurn gets hurt.

'Do you have anything more practicle? A bow and Arrow prehaps?' "Not really!" Damn this is geting me no where. I have a pocket knife, the blade isn't even three inches long but has to do more good then my mace.

I put the mace back behind my back where I store it. I then reach into my pkcet and pull out the knife. I flip out the blade and drive the sharp metal spliter into it's head. The monster lets out a small groan at the pain. It's still more pissed off at Zurn it seems.

Zelda frowned when she saw tears develop in Link's eyes. Once again the urge to comfort him was overwhelming. Why was she so drawn to Link? It made no sense. Resisting her urge to go to him she smiled comfortingly "It's prefectly understandable how upset the dream made you. It was obviously quite scary. Is there something I can get you? Water? I know how horrifying dreams can be." She shuddered at the memory of the dreams she had previous to her imprisonment. She resolutely pushed them away refusing to remember the things she had seen.

He wiped the remaining tears from his eyes.

"No thank you.... I'm ok now, really. I guess I just needed to tell someone to get it out of my system. Besides... it's only a dream, right?" even though he didn't sound so sure about it.

"Now, lets get some sleep, shall we? We have a busy day in the morning," he smiled at his freinds. He even smiled at Lee.... and chuckled when she stuck her tongue out at him before zooming beind Zelda.

He said goodnight once more to Zelda and Jinx, turned out the lights, and slept. Mercifully... no more nightmares came to him the rest of the night.

Looking up at Link I watch him wipe the tears from his eyes. Shifting my eyes for a few seconds to Zelda I notice a very sincere look of worry and pain in her eyes. As I stand up Link says good night to the 3 of us and then goes back to bed.

Watching as Zelda and Lee go to there room shutting the door behind them quitley. Walking over to the window I sit down and roll in a ball.

Zurn gritted his teeth, as the gigantic arm threw him into the sea. A red welt grew on the small of his back, that he knew would sting for days and days. Underwater, he swam, desperate to free himself from the tentacle's grasp. It eased itself with grace through the water, but couldn't get to him.
He climbed onto one of the far platforms, trying to catch his breath.
How in the hell could he do this? Every time he tried to hack off a limb, three others come to pummel him. He needed some sort of a distraction, something to occupy the sushi dish long enough so that he could do some internal damage.
Nothing came to him though, the only thing on that jelly fish's mind was him. It waited, one crooked eye wallowing through the army of flying tentacles on him, always on him.
He needed a distraction.
Leaning into his pack, he searched for something he could use. The material it had been made from was Gungren hide, a very purposeful skin in any Zora's opinion. Although he wore it during this entire attack, inside it was as dry as a bone. Despite that little pleasantry, nothing seemed to be useful to him or his plight.
A bomb would be helpful, or a bow and arrow, just a few arrows. He didn't want 20 or so, just three or four. Something to distract the delicacy so he could begin the process of destroying each of those tiny little arms.
Son of a bitch.
Those rocks, outside. If he could have grabbed a few...
Something hard, something sharp that he could throw.
He looked down at the water, a piece of ice floating in the midst of the waves. His eyes lit up, realizing he didn't need rocks from the outside, he could just make his own.
Ice rocks.
Putting the end of his sword into the water, he watched as the ice grew out of the blade, slow and sure crystals reaching from the depths of the water. When he took it out, wrapped around his weapon was a nice big block of ice.
He hit it against the platform, and it broke in two, with a few shards running rampant on the wood. Zurn sheathed his sword and grabbed up the two ice blocks, jumping back into the water. He swam as close as he dared, without his sword being drawn.
The monster waited for him, a desirably glint in its eye.
Did passing wanderers in this fortress become food, or was there a dungeon somewhere where fallen heroes were left to rot.
Those eyes told him he would soon find out.
Zurn threw one piece way up high, a nice wide arc, like that of a rainbow. The other one he lunged at the nearest tentacle. As each flew through the air, he unsheathed his sword, awaiting the opportunity.
The first one hit him right on the head, an audible squishing sound was heard, like wringing out a spongue, only with this he smelled something foul. The other block hit its mark, stunning one tentacle in its waving track for just a few seconds.
All he needed.
With another surprised jump, he dove itno the water, but not without hacking off one more limb, which fell lifeless to float in the water behind him.
With care, he swam back to the outer plaftorm, to do it all again.

Zelda glanced once more at Link as she closed the door. "So how long have you been in love with him?" she jumped at Lee's voice so close to her ear then frowned when her question registered. "In love? What are you talking about? I've known the boy only about two days." she shook her head. "That may be but you have feelings for him. I saw that way you looked at him and the way you ran into his room when you heard his scream." Zelda narrowed her eyes at the fairy. "I feel no such thing. I was merely being concerned. He is my protector after all and possibly the hero of time." Lee snorted "Do you know nothing of your ancestors history?" Zelda stood up outraged "how dare you speak to me thus. I know everything there is to know about my ancestors. I know about everyone of them and how they faught to save Hyrule." Lee shrugged "You obviously don't know all about them. Did you know that every one of your ancestors fell for the hero of time? It didn't always end well but they all felt something. An inexplicable attraction." Zelda shook her head. "Your crazy. Now leave me be. I'm tired and I must rest!" Then without another word she climbed into bed and turned her back to the infuriating fairy. "Ok princess when you come out of the denial phase let me know." then with a huff Lee also went to bed.

IC: I was haveing a rough ride the moutin of bonless mucle I was on was more concerned with the enemy it could see rather then me. Corse that was because my pocket knife was just as useless as my mace.

There was a suden impact of sharp ice shards to my front and the monster jumped. The energy it used in this simple twich sent me flying backwards. I fliped in the air as my momentum caried me out of control. The shock to my system threw me off balance and I found myself falling towards the creatures front.

Verticle once more I threw up my left hadn shooting out my chain. The magic cord hit a mark I picked out of reflex rather then delibret thought. It's end flew towards the opening of where the ice crstals peirced it's hide. The chain wraped itself around my pocket knife that was firmly jammed into the beasts head.

As my chain drew short I found myself swinging towards it's face. I placed out my feet to cussion my fall. They hit just under it's eye as a tenticle knocked them out from under me. My shulder ran into the creatures mouthless face.

I stared into it's gigantic eye. Behind the white and black sphere I saw the glistening of a jewel. "What the hell is in there?" 'The pendent get it now.' Ganons voice was screaming in my head. I took my mace out from behind my back and smacked the creature there bursting it's eye open. 'Grab the pendent now!' I was resiesting ganons will. I knew this pendent was important to the other side, I did not want to doom the world to chaos.

As my will broke and I began to reach for the pendent a tenticle hit me square in the chest knoking me off of it ripping out the knife. I slamed into the wall and bounced onto a plat form. My head was in chaos. The room swirling, just as much as our tenticled fiend.

Link awoke a few hours later, but not because of horrifying images.... but because nature was calling, and it had him on speed dial.

He peered into the darkness, and could see the content mountain dweller curled up in peaceful sleep. Slowly creeping out of bed so as not to disturb him or the girls next door, he sneaked on his tiptoes, heading for the door to the hallway. But before he could get to it, he noticed the door connecting his with Zelda's was open... and what he saw inside made his breath catch in his throat.

The pale moonlight was casting her silvery glow upon Zelda's face, illuminating her like light on a finely crafted porcilin doll. It shimmered in her hair as if it was polished gold. He could barely make out the outline of her figure underneath the covers, her chest rising and falling with her rythemic breathing.

He probably would've stared at her all night... had his body not reminded him what the reason was for waking him up by giving him an internal kick to the bladder. He snuck out fast, finding a bathroom down the hall.

After about thirty seconds, he emerged with a peaceful look on his face, looking over his shoulder to make sure he cut the water off when he washed his hands.

Before he put himself quietly back to bed, he looked in on Zelda once more.... and sighed "Get over it Link," he said in a whisper "She probably has numerous boys after her heart... and your just some smuck from some backwoods town in the forest. Besides... she is Zelda... and you may not even be the Hero of Time. How many cousins do you have who also share your bloodline? Far to many to make you the possible Hero. So remember.... you can be her protector... and her friend... but that is all you can hope to be."

And with that said, he turned to make sure Jinx hadn't heard him. Seeing that the Goron's snoring remained the same, he crawled back into bed, covered himself up, and drifted off to sleep once more.

Jinx may not have heard him.... but a certain fairy named Lee did, who super sense of hearing heard him crawl out of bed earlier. She grinned to herself. "Well well well.... what an interesting development this is."

Lee giggled behind her hand. Humans were so amusing with their petty emotions. She looked out the window noticing the sun beginning to rise. Time to get up and get out of here. She landed on Zelda who was fast asleep and faint smile on her lips. Lee grabbed one of Zelda's hairs and pulled. Nothing, Zelda merely swatted her away liking a pestering fly. Angry now Lee grabbed a handfull of Zelda's hair and pulled with all her might. Zelda gave a small cry jerking awake. Her sleep blurred eyes fell upon Lee holding a chunk of her hair. Zelda's eyes narrowed "Why you little gremlin!" she sat up swatting at Lee with her hand. Lee easily dodged the blows giggling the entire time. Finally giving up Zelda climbed out of bed. She was about to get dressed when she noticed the door between Link and hers was open. "I could have sworn I closed it" she muttered shutting the door firmly. Then she began to dress.

Zurn swam up to the farthest platform, holding onto the princess as he did so, making sure she wouldn't fall off into the water. The way her eyes focused and unfocused he had a horrible feeling she might pass out, and in a room with all this water, he didn't like that one bit.
He noticed the pocket knife in her hand. What in the hell had she been doing? Just trying to hack away? The poor thing, being a princess, he had no doubt of her courage, but practical skill didn't come from any bloodline.
"Listen," he said, wiping the hair away from her face, smacking her cheek just hard enough so that it tried to bring her back into the real world, "Listen, I think its best if you stay away from the thing. Could you do that for me? I think I have a plan in defeating it, if you are willing to help."
He stuck the sword once more into the water, watching as ice began to form around it.
"How good are you at throwing?"

IC: I lay on the floating wood. My eyes flickered between working and being useless. My knife was now i my hand I grabed it firmly not waqnting to give up my favorite little tool.

As I closed my eyes I felt a sharp and suden pain in my cheek. I opened my eye and stared at Zurn the anger riseing in me. I looked at him and with some nerve he told me not to fight the creature as if I were only hindering him. 'I have a plan.'

A smile came to my face as brave as I was I wasn't about ready to get smacked again. He stuck his blade in the water and pulled it out once more. 'How are you at thowing?' What type of plan is that? "Okay unless you got a supicfic spot you want to hit that thing. I don't think throwing stuff at it will do use much good."

It's blind now thats a pluse, also it's cut and missing one of its tenticles. Prehaps it'll bleed to death on its own. No thats unlikely in any case our best option is to leave. I glanced at the now locked door. How can we get out? 'Get the pendent and I'll take you out.' No! I'm done with your biding. 'Wrong your just starting.' "Your makeing my head hurt." 'It won't bleed to death but I can save you if you get the pendent.' "Fine! Zurn theres a pendent were it's eye used to be. We need to get it in order to leave. Any idea of how to get it?"

Zurn thought he saw her argue for a moment. Her brow furrowed in just the way someone might disagree with someone else, a difference of opinion that seemed almost deadly. No one was here to argue with her, and before he could take a second look, she was right back in the world.
Maybe that squid had hit her harder than Zurn thought. She must get some rest after all this. In a castle this size, he was certain a bed or two would be available.
"I said I have a plan remember. I don't know about your agility, but I can't get near that thing without a tentacle or two in my way, so I'm going to take out as many as I can. This..."
He slammed the block of ice around the sword, which broke in two, alone with other shattered icicles playing on the platform,
"Is a distraction, something to occupy him for a few minutes while I can lock aim on an arm and slice it up. I figure if I take a few more, he won't be much dangerous to us, and we can take whatever we want from him."

IC: I watched the zurn strike his frozen sword againt the block on which we floated. The ice around the sword split into to chunks as the blade released its self. He then explained his plan to me in detail.

Where as I thought his plan was to throw ice at our foe until we fall in exashtion his plan was to have me thorw ice to distact the octopede until he could make him into a hexepede. Well it sounded better the chargeing at it and hopeing to get the pendent from with in. Which I must say didn't sound all that clever.

"Okay then." I slowly stood once I felt I was balanced I bent down and grabed a chunk of the ice. I lobed the cold block into the air leting it fall on the feinds head. "Damn I throw like a girl." I guess thats to be expected but after all that training I figured it would of improved at least a little.

The sunlight danced across Link's eyes, and he let out a loud yawn as he stretched away the sleep. He thought in a half groggy sort of way "If Mom ever knew I woke up this easily, she'd have a heart attack."

He slipped out from under the sheets, and nudged Jinx from his rest. "Wake up big guy, it's time to get going. I hope you slept well."

He turned around, hearing the Goron stir from his talking. He went over to his back pack and put back on the same clothes he wore yesterday. The outfit was nearly complete, but he would have to get the hat back from Zelda "I wonder if Lee will still be in it?" he asked outloud, more to himself than to Jinx.

"Now.... all we have to do is to think up a plan to get that Army flatbed, and then figure out where in the mountains Crescent is. Hopefully, she told Lee where she may have gone."

Zelda sat on the window seat staring sightlessly out the window. Images of dreams that she had been having were flitting through her mind. She had struggled for the longest time to keep the terror she had felt at what she saw at bay. But now she let it free and shuddered at the images she conjured. She could see a dark cloud seeping with evil covering all of Hyrule. She could see all that she loved slowly dissolving and being over run with creatures to horrific to describe. And she could see herself in the middle of it sitting on the fround. Her body perfectly fine but it was what was in her eyes that scared the hell out of Zelda. Absolute vacancy. No anger, no sadness. No glimmer of life. It was as if her very soul had been stolen from her body. Unable to take anymore of the images she pushed those thoughts away and turned away from the window only to see Link standing in the doorway between their rooms. She hoped he hadn't see the fear in her eyes. She was Hyrule's only hope. She wasn't aloud to be afraid.

He saw the fear in her eyes, but he didn't want to upset her or anything, so he stepped aside to allow in the room. She sat on his bed and handed him back his hat. He put it on... and had a hair plucked "OOOWW!" he yelped, and Lee giggled. Well.... that answers my earlier question he thought to himself.

He saw they were giving him their attention, and he then voiced his plan. "Ok. Jinx.... I need your help with the flatbed... it's to heavy for me to push, even if I put it in nuetral. That's where you come into play. If it wasn't for the fact that those kind of vehicals are noisey as hell, I would drive it off the lot instead of sneaking it out. While your pushing, I'll help steer it. Once it's a good ways off so that the Army cannot catch up to us, I'll start the ignition and we'll have smooth sailings. Now you don't have to worry about falling out of the bottom, bro" the goron smiled at him.

"But.... there are two guards currently standing watch over it... and they'll shoot us on the spot if we try to take it. That's where you come in Zelda.... we need you to distract them for a while.... by whatever means you feel neccesary.... any questions?"

OOC: Let us all take a moment to pray for the families who lost loved one's on Columbia's journey to Heaven.

Zurn slid to the side, eyeing his sights for the pendant inside. It sparkled, something like a diamond in a bowl of oatmeal. Moving down to his knees, he debated whether to kill the thing or not.
It was a protector after all. He would probably be doing the same thing if some one were after the princess. Fight to the death, losing a limb or two in the process. Still, the thing posed a threat, even it if was blind and crippled.
To kill, or not to kill.
He took out a coin, flipping it in the air.
Let fate decide.
It landed on heads, before slipping into the water.
"Well, shit."
He got up, taking the sword out, ready for his final showdown.
"Throw it at high as you can. Just hit him up top. And then throw one as hard as you can, try to aim for one of his arms."
Zurn jumped into the water, swimming up to the closest platform. He kept under the water, watching as blurry tentacles menaced just at the surface of the water.
He waited to strike.

IC: "Sounds simple" I picked up the one remaining Ice cube and threw it high into the air. It landed with a thump on the creatures head. I then reached down to grab the one to hit the tenticle. "Shit that was the last one."

I began to look around for something to throw any hing would do. The platform was bare the ice around the plat form was gone and my options where limited. I quickly searched my pokets and only found my little knife. I fliped out the blade and chucked the blade pointing right towards one tenticle at the front of the creature.

Zelda nodded at the plan her mind struggling to rid itself of the burden she carried. "I'm ready when you are" she said softly avoiding Link's eyes.

Using his webbed feet for speed, he shot out of the water, climbing just high enough to be to eye level with the beast, that is, if the beast did have an eye. As of yet, he just saw a putrid socket, where an eye once stood. Strange goo that looked like nothing Zurn had ever seen before poured out of the hollow cave within the creature.
He reached out his hand, just as the thing made a sound. Xurn thought it was a scream, but it sounded too hollow, too alien to be anything recognizable.
He pulled out the pendant, and with his other hand, stuck the blade as deep into the socket as possible. Another of those hollow alien screams came out, but this one was weaker, less forced.
Zurn didn't have chance to identify where it came from, or how on earth some sort of weird octopus could scream, at that moment, a tentacle slapped across his side, sending him to the far side of the room, and unluckily enough, landing on one of the far platforms.
He slid off the side, holding on with just his hands. Both of them covered in that sticky goo, one holding his sword, the other Zelda's pendant.
He quickly washed that crap off of him, moving to get onto the last of the platforms.
"Here you go," he couldn't quite stand. The monster had knocked the wind off of him, but he did hold up the pendant for her. The things he did for royalty.
Zurn laughed, feeling a little better about himself, and this quest.

Link nodded to them both. Then he walked out the door, hearing them both follow. The old desk clerk asked for his money, and they paid him.

He opened the doors, walking out into the bright morning light, the air crisp and clear. Moving swiftly and silently, he hid behind a dumpster, and motioned for them to follow. When they were grouped together, he said to Zelda "Alright... now we need your help.... if you don't wish to do this, we'll come up with another plan," not wanting her to feel pressured and letting her know that there were other options.

IC: I took the pendent from Zurns hand. I could feel the power of the necklace. Dispite the condtions it came from the green thing was completely clean. 'Put it on girl.' Why Ganon? 'So you don't lose it.' What happens if I lose it. 'You won't if you put it on.' Fine then. "Zurn give me your hand." I don't know why but I felt if I didn't do this gaon would of left him behind.

Once I had a firm grip on his hand I put on the pendent with my remaining hand. No sooner then I had it on we where out of the castle looking at the entrance.
