FYI...I'm no expert, but I do believe that to for someone to launch a DOS attack, they must know your IP number. No one outside of Manu and I have access to that info, and I haven't even looked at this thread (till today when I saw Siren's lawsuit post) much less anyone's IP. Your ISP should be able to easily track such an attack. I would seriously doubt that it originated from anyone here. On a board where people have posted about orgasming during breastfeeding and getting friendly with Fido, I seriously doubt that anything on this thread would promote that strong of a reaction.

I have to wonder how I got mixed up in this bullshit. I did no bashing and said nothing as to Darkstaff's character. I merely said he should talk to his mother. I guess that equates to gay bashing or defaming Darkstaff. I would have thought that the poster of this message was one of my "friends" here at Literotica...however, even they could figure out that I said nothing hurtful, hateful, derogatory, etc. I suppose trying to explain that to this "person" would be pointless though. Apparently, I was taken wrong the first time, why bother rehashing it again.

Not to mention if he has a cable or DSL line, he most likely has a static IP address. Which means it is always the same. It can be gotten from just about anywhere from webpages visited to your email.

Don't jump to conclusions so fast. Your ISP can figure it out simple as that. Which you should have done the moment you discovered the DOS attack, instead of running over here to post about it. Unless you're lying about the DOS attack. ::shrug::

Well, I have stayed out of this, not because I have nothing to say on the matter, but because I just recently read this whole thread. I quoted Laurel's post because I think it should be paid some close attention. I've known Laurel since this site was one page of stories and one forum (Laurel, remember the good ole' days..) and I have just recently seen her somewhat discouraged with what is being said on this board.
For one thing, Darkstaff, I think you got all, if not more than the amount of attention you were looking for with this thread. You brought your personal life to the board, the masses responded, and hell, you argued back. That's what this site is all about: Freedom of Speech. I'm sorry to hear that your server has/is been attacked. It's unfortunate, but that's the way the internet works sometimes. I somewhat disagree with Laurel, I think there may be some members that may take a strong reaction to some of the things you've said here. I don't personally know all 15530 members. I only know a handful. I do know those who could give out that sort of information, and I can tell you that they are two of the most caring and trustworthy individuals on this site. The same goes with all of the Chat Monitors and Moderators, we all have an understanding about the safety of the site and it's members. That understanding is that the safety of the real identities of the members is the key to the success of Lit. I garuntee to you that no one gave up your IP address.
Ok... Now for the rest of you guys... I think we have a definite problem with Trolls on this site... but hey, what are you gonna do. Laurel is a superwoman, but she can't do it all. I think we all just need to get along *smirks, knowing that is a bullshit line* I think that everyone here has lots and lots... and lots of opinions. Personally, I have a few. This is a great place to express those opinions. I also think, though, that we need to use some moderation in our expression. I think a lot of times, these sorts of threads get out of hand, and it makes this board not fun anymore. Remember, this is the internet, this is a porn site, we talk about real life issues here, but it's not real life. We all have fun with this, but I think when Laurel herself calls a certain thread, "a mess", that shows that it has gotten out of hand. We can't let this keep happening. We are all guilty of egging someone else on, and pissing someone else off (I am gonna be guilty of that after this post) so I think we should just try and keep it to a minimum. This is staring to remind me of high school.
The issue of acceptance of certain sexual "practices" was also brought up in this thread. Here's what I have to say to that: Lit. is a very diverse site. We have stories about people/aliens/whatever fucking everybody and their brothers/mothers/dogs.. I know that there are sections of this site which I have no interest in. I know this is true with 99.9% of the members here. We aren't all into everything on this site. We all come to this site for the parts we like. I have not seen any respectable members on this site bashing other members because of the kids of stories they write. I think we all accept, for the most part, the diversity of this site and it's members. And we all don't try to justify the kinds of things that are discussed on this site, so lets not start now. We all have something different that we like, and thats how it should be.. We all can't just like the same kinds of stories, or sexual "practices" because then we wouldn't be different, and we wouldn't be able to find things to fight about, because we would all agree all the time (Am I still making sense?)

Anyways, I will stop now before I start to speak jibberish. I think that we all need to look at some of the things that go one on this board and take responsibility for them, and let's try and make them better. This board is all about fun, so let's have some. What I've seen on this thread is not fun...
