Let's go to war with Canada -- and surrender!

Of course. The petition is a good thing. Alberta has been taken advantage of from the east. I’m not a liberal. I’m just saying that I don’t want to. I’m a Canadian. I don’t think there is a chance of it happening. Maybe this opens some eyes and things get better.
That's a totally fair take.

I would point out though, that if Alberta does separate, you do not in any way lose your Canadian citizenship or status as a Canadian citizen. You would simply have dual citizenship. Heck, our current Prime Minister has three.

I’ve read up a lot on it. Things could go bad. Plus there are the treaty’s as well. The indigenous would have to sign up as well. Doesn’t look like they are keen to do it.

The indigenous get one vote each, just like everyone else, they have no veto power whatsoever. If Alberta does become independent, they would have three options:

1) keep things exactly as they are with their relationship and treaties under the Canadian Federal government.
2) transfer the exact same relationship and treaties under the Alberta government
3) (their best play) renegotiate their treaties with the Alberta government and get a much better deal, especially with the major boost in finances for a sovereign Alberta.

If Alberta does go independent, we lose absolutely nothing and gain a great deal.

As Alberta's separatist proponents push for separation, Indigenous nations hold strong legal claims that their consent is a necessary, fundamental requirement for any such move to be legitimate under Canadian and international law, giving them a powerful voice and potential veto power.

They have more power on this that you think.

I just want it to be voted on. We will see. The separatists have reason to be pissed. 1 million or so who want to leave is a large number. But I’m pretty sure the majority of Albertans will vote to stay. Smith needs to keep fighting for us, and hopefully Carney will understand and listen. It seems he understands this more than Trudeau. The whole country should be on the Libs about the taxes we pay. One of the highest in the world. That should be the talking point for everyone. The leader who drops taxes will win. The conservatives need to lay out a plan for all to see. I believe that Alberta with Canada is the best way to go.

They have political noise making power, but no actual legal power.

One of main reasons I'm voting for independence:

-no equity payments
-no GST
-no carbon taxes
-no Fed fuel taxes
-no Fed income tax

We'll likely have low Alberta income tax at first, but once Alberta can actually open up for business, Alberta will be so profitable any income tax will no longer be needed.

And with a much smaller government for the citizens to manage, it will be much more accountable to the voters.

As opposed to now, where we get an 80% vote for Conservatives last federal election, but it means next to nothing to Ottawa outcomes. (I think I'm remembering our vote percantage correct there)
