I'm not sure if I would have a thing for watching 2 men together if gay porn wasn't one of the first porn viewing experiences of my life. But it was and I do. Like you said, I think it will go unrealized in my real life and maybe that's okay.

When I used to order sex toys from Adam & Eve, they always included several free porn VHS tapes and DVD's. That definitely opened my eyes to some things that I never would've thought I'd like. And it's one of the reasons we still have a VHS/DVD player combo in our bedroom.

Interestingly, I find it really difficult to find porn that I like on the internet. I think because there is SO much of it, I struggle to sift through it to find porn video clips that I enjoy. And I'm easily thrown off by the way the scene is set up, if the actors are too fake, if I don't know the backstory of how those two people ended up fucking on a copy machine in a doctor's office, etc.

I knew nothing of either while my sexual behaviour was in formation!
Yet the Internet has in recent years opened ways for enhancement of our sex life: by access to discussions and reviews and such, on topics which are not dinner conversation stuff in the circles we move in - being safe with cockrings for example. Erotic writing has been a freeing influence for both of us, and while my wife was not well, my discovery of Lit Stories was a huge solace for me.

As to porn, the rather minimal amount I see sometimes, 9 out of 10 of the scenarios I just don't like at all. And then there's one that approximates to great sex and I'll return to it but not often. And yet the gifs and pics on threads on here are mostly class!

I was going to ask a follow up. With all positives there's a few negatives and I wonder what harm the Internet and porn may have caused.

The wide variety of twisted kinks out there has certainly helped me find peace with my rather mild ones. As others have said, I've also been surprised by the different types of things that I react to. Things I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

For me, the internet has been a blessing. Porn magazines like Playboy, the ones available everywhere not just in porn shops, only show the beauty of certain body types. They are beautiful, there is no denying that. But internet porn covers the full spectrum of female shapes and the beauty of each. Not everyone will be attracted to every shape or size, but I can go online and find women that look like me. Women that some men find very attractive. When I look at those women, knowing their bodies can make a man stand at attention, it helps me appreciate my own curves and the power and beauty they possess.

I worry about that too, and that young women are worried that they are not 'normal' if they don't feel what they perceive the women porn performers are feeling/desiring/enjoying. I also worry about the body image that porn imposes on young women, although it's far from alone in that, I suppose.

It's easier to take porn (and enjoy it) for what is as a more fully-formed adult, but it must be a nightmare to navigate for the young.

I don't think it's especially shaped my sexual behaviour in any way, although occasionally I will see something and think "Must try that...."

As to the porn part of the question; I grew up looking at Playboy magazines, so that aspect has been a part of my life since I was 12(?). When I got older, there was always the chance of seeing nudity or soft core on Skinemax, or if you were lucky the Playboy channel or scrambled porn on cable. Only when I got to college did I see an actual porn movie (and it's hard to get excited, crammed in a dorm room with 10 other guys). The internet didn't come around for me until the mid-90's, and even then, porn was fairly soft core. Flash forward to today, where there are 30,000 sites devoted to mime porn, and you can literally order a callgirl off of Craigslist. Yes, I have seen some things that I would love to try (a 3-some), but I have also seen shit that makes me want to crawl under the bed and never come out....so be wary when LS posts links, guys!
