LGBTQIA+ Daily Vibe II

My oldest son - late twenties, is in town for a couple of days. I absolutely love him but his attitude bugs the fuck out of me sometimes, especially when he’s drinking and going out on the prowl. He tall and handsome and outwardly cock-sure of himself, but his cologne makes me want to gag. His saving graces are that he’s completely open minded, intelligent, and likes to cook big fancy meals.

Well, last night he met up with a bunch of his old friends from school while out at the pub and brought a bunch of them back to the house for a midnight meal.

The kitchen is a mess and all of our extra beds and the couch are covered with sleeping vagabonds who used to spend lots of time at our house a few years back. They’re all familiar faces yet four of them have transitioned since high school. It’s going to be an interesting morning. ☀️

I feel like I’m walking a dead name minefield. 😅

Four have transitioned!?!?!
I'm not questioning you, but that seems like a huge percentage of folks you knew from before....I'm transgender and I only know of one close friend from my past that is also trans.
All that said, sounds like a fun morning to me. Get the mimosas ready before they wake up 🥂
maybe coffee as well! ha!

It was fun morning, even for us old folks. 🙄

My kids went to alternative schools in California and the kids all grew up together. Theater, music, festivals, Comic-Con, Magic the Gathering, SCA, Renaissance fair… We had a big van and a house in town so we were able providing rides. We’ve known some of them since my wife was their preschool teacher.

I'm thinking you must have been pretty alright parents!

Don't forget to get out and have fun too!
I will have to ask my Mistress.[]

Give him better cologne as a present. Maybe he will get the hint. If not then throw away his :giggle:

I offered.
When he lived at home he used rose oil. Now he says, “But I use Prada.” 😈
🤦‍♀️😷 🤮

I guess it’s how a hippie kid rebels. 😜

Tomorrow, one of the senators from my state will be in town for some city meetings. I am planning on being on the sidewalk directly in view as they arrive from the airport holding my sign expressing my feelings in this current chaos.
It isn't easy to put myself into public view expressing stuff some def won't agree with, but I just feel things are spiraling out of control on the federal level and citizens NEED to raise their voices.
We will see what happens......

I am not a lawyer and I’m certainly not a spokesperson for trans rights, so I’d welcome other thoughts on the UK Supreme Court ruling.
Officially the case was brought to clarify the definition of both man and woman in the 2010 Equalities Act after a pressure group and the Scottish govt could not reach agreement. Officially it is intended to allow care providers or owners of spaces for single sex to legally enforce conditions on the basis of biological sex.

I listened to a legal reporter on the BBC Woman’s Hour blithely saying that it means that a man who temporarily identifies as a woman can be barred ( the bogey man hiding round every corner  ) He also casually added that he didn’t think it would affect trans women ‘who pass as women’.

A legal commentator should have more discretion but as a man ( biological of course) his lazy comment about ‘passing’ will also be used by Gender Stasi terfs. YouTube scenes from the US with butch cis-women being dragged from restrooms by security will soon be acted out in Malls and Sports centres across the UK.

The real point is that the original case and the subsequent ruling is in response to an imaginary, hypothetical threat. We know the truth of the matter outside of the courtroom; that the case was brought by well funded terfs to pick on a marginalised group and a vanishingly small percentage who, through ignorance or mischievousness might try to bend the law for their own purposes.

The law is famously an ass and this is what happens when common sense and courtesy are bulldozed by principal.

I anticipate the emboldened terf group will next look to overturn the 2004 Gender Recognition Act. That gave people the right to change their legal gender and now the SC has made this ruling, it won’t take much persuading for the limpwristed Govt to repeal the law.

There are as many questions raised by this ruling: what happens to Intersex people; to trans folk who have gone through SRS? Will non-binary folk be required to drop their pants to take a pee? None of it looks good. We are moving towards a spiteful and selfish society. Watch your back.

He also casually added that he didn’t think it would affect trans women ‘who pass as women’.
Opinions like this may sound a little reassuring but, to my knowledge, opinions don't carry a drop of water in a court of law.
Too often people hear comments like that and think, "well, it won't affect me, or it won't be that bad" but as you say it all leads to inspections, or mistaken confrontations.
Keep in mind, I too am not a lawyer!

Here’s something that’s more political but still relevant. It’s an insta link so I’m not sure how it’ll work
So many sources document sexual assaults, fondling, rape and all the other improprieties happening and so very many of them are by police officers, religious leaders, teachers etc.
Yet do we hear an outcry about this? when will the conservative politicians address these things?
Of course we all know the answer to that....

they really don't care about women and girls....

Your positive attitude is contagious.

Thanks to you and Stickygirl and others for keeping this thread going and for providing signs of intelligent life on planet Earth.
Thank you sooo much coati! Your nice comment is making me really smile :giggle:

It's blatant hypocrisy, they don't care about women, girls, or anyone's fundamental rights. Why? Because they want control more than anything. They want to tell people how to live their lives, how and what to worship, how to dress, etc. While the right loves to label the left as "commies" or "Marxists," they've clearly shown they themselves don't care about freedom, they care about power. If conservatives cared about freedom we wouldn't be where we are today.

Apologies, it's early on a sunny Sunday morning, too early for a political rant. I need more coffee...

Yes, it's difficult to figure out the best way to deal with political control freaks. Mass resistance and mutual support seem to help.
