For the late night Americans and the early morning Brits,

What percent of your personal life do you share at Lit? Are you bothered by when someone won't share something you that you are okay to share yourself?

I share a small part of myself. I hang out on the threads. I post pictures. Ask me where I live and I'll tell you. Ask me personal questions and I'll answer most of the time. Depends on how much I trust you and the significance of the answer. So maybe 30%. Because I won't tell or show you the things that matter.

Will I be upset if someone doesn't show as much as me? No. Because I realise people are private. I'm private. You can't reasonably expect someone to spill their deepest secrets to a few letters on a screen, unless you build up a high level of trust. I'd never push someone to start a picture thread because I never did it until my fiancee did, and after a few months of pushing on her part. I'd never ask someone where they live (aside from the state/province) because that comes off rather creepy. It's a matter of consideration. Consideration and trust.

I've shared some personal stuff. In hindsight, it probably wasn't a good idea.

For the most part though, no, I don't expect people to share many personal things unless it's an ongoing building relationship. As Kal said, trust.

The only thing I've truthfully shared is my girth and sexual stamina. Both, woefully underestimated. I admit it. I'm a very important person.

And for the most part, I assume this place is like any other social media outlet. I buy my salt in bulk.

If I build up a degree of trust...some stuff is shared.
No, I would never push someone to share something they are not comfortable with!
Trust is trust.

i only share what i want to share. There is one person that knows more about me than anyone else. We basically have the same kind of marriage so it helps talking to someone that understands.

I share bits & pieces...as I do in the RealWorld. Nothing substantial.

There are maybe...two people here that know my demons...perhaps two too many.

As nosey as I am, if someone doesn't want to share...I'm cool with it.

*bangs on the thread's door*

Answer the freakin' question.

:D

Oh, you wanting me to answer my own question. ;)

I share very little details out in the threads maybe 5%. Although the personality I share is 100% accurate. I'll answer specific questions if asked appropriately.

Ask appropriately...novel idea.

Last one and then bed. (Please god let me sleep!!)

It used to bug the crap out of me. People (read: guys) would pester me to tell them something and when I did would refuse to reciprocate.
Example someone once kept on and on wanting a picture. I finally gave in and sent something flirty but not really sexy. When I asked when he'd be sending me a pic that conversation was completely shut down.
My real life self bears only a passing resemblance to who I am here. Oddly enough about 10% of the me I am here has seeped into my real world personality (for the better I think) and about 10% of my real world self has settled into the free spirit I let myself be here. I guess that means up to 20% of what's here is me although making it fit with the other 80% of the puzzle pieces might be a challenge.

It makes me wonder, if I stay here long enough will those numbers keep going up? Will there be a time when it is my true self people see in these posts? Am I making the person I want to be on Lit or is Lit slowly remaking the person I am? When they hit half and half will it be stalemate or will one begin pushing the other out?

But what do I know? I'm nuts and everyone knows it.
I think I even quoted my psychiatrist once when I was talking about something.

Here's a bonus: Lit sure did help when it came time to sit and talk about sex with him! He's my doctor sure, but he's still one hell of a good looking guy and that was back before I could bring myself to even write never mind utter the word 'fuck'!!

Thanks to all of ya'll for the confidence in myself and my desires to make it possible for me to have those conversations.

I share a bit here and there, and a bit more in private. I don't care if other people don't share as much unless they are trying to get me to share and not sharing themselves.

Also very upset with Chained for not including us Australians in his question but I thought I would answer anyway. :p

I think this is true in all of life, not just Lit. It's often said that a measure of a person is not what happens to them but how they respond. Life is constantly impacting and shaping us. We are an evolving species, change is built into our DNA.

Thus endeth the ramble.
