But as an outsider looking in and one who is not part of the cool crowd.. Ive read a lot of people from the playground bitching about how the General board is, and why they don't like the GB. Partially cause of how rude and mean they supposedly are. ( I wouldn't know, I saw enough to stay away) Yet, that was what ended up happening here?

I saw talk earlier in this thread about how some threads get cliquish. Yet many that I have seen post in here, I would consider part of those cliques. Some like to say "oh, I'm not part of that crowd" Yet you see the reactions of their postings from others and how popular they are, and either laugh at that comment, or roll your eyes.

And since I am in the mood to just spew freely. What is up with the women who have 100's of 1000s of pages of pics, where the guy is falling at their feet drooling, talking about their beauty, wanting more, needing more, what he wants to do etc.. and she says "Ugh, I'm so ugly" (I see this more with the women then the men) Why????

Sorry. Bad morning. Had to rant.

Welcome to you!

I'm not in any crowd, I am an island. Want to visit it? :)

I don't get the pic thing either. I don't know why lack of self confidence is an attention getter, but certainly not the kind I'd be seeking out.

Throws the flag, unnecessary snarkiness. I was going to let this slide but since you decided to launch a grenade, it's clique, not cliche". Now off to the penalty box with you.

Oh, so that hole grammer nazi diatribe was just you blowing smoke, huh. Do you know how many times I had to rewrite cliche that way without letting auto-correct correct it? It's a sad day on Lit when a person reveals himself to be the exact opposite of what he just claimed. You Sir, are a grammar nazi.

I'd like a discussion of what is and isn't "thread-jacking" please.

Granted last night things went squirrelly but did his mother never tell him what happens when you ask a stupid question?
I went back and read it all through and, yes there was some fun being poked. Nobody was really mean though and the wheels didn't come off entirely until well past the point when it was pretty obvious that the thing was dead or dying.
What I'd like to know is this--how was that thread highjacked since the entire conversation was about or around the topic of the initial post? There were a few 'asides' but when isn't there?
Wouldn't it have had to be taken in a completely different direction for there to be 'jacking' of the thread or does the fact that the OP bailed mean that it should have been left to die?

Oh, and hello FD--welcome to the party.
Boys stop bickering, there are ladies to be adored! :D

I kind of feel as if the thread was destined to be derailed. It's not as if a hundred women were going to post credit card numbers and start a live PPV discussion. The bottom line is.. he posted a veiled ad.
He's lucky some of the ladies didn't send him an invoice for the spanking...

(wait.. do you think we could do that?)

My fellow American, I am no grammar Nazi, feel free to find another post in my history of me calling someone out for grammar. If you would go back and reread my comment I said I would normally let it slide but your little pot shot at the end of an otherwise excellent post, opened the door. I do feel bad about your autocorrect issues, but never having had clique - cliche issues myself I wasn't aware.

I bet you could, you ladies might become wealthy if that works. LOL

hiya everyone:)
A timid step into this thread. My question is...when does just a group of friendly people who post in particular thread or threads become a clique?

In my opinion <for what it's worth>, that it is natural to become more friendly and chatty to people who post in the same threads as you - hence it can seem to be cliquey <sp>. That isn't to say that being mean or excluding others is right . That is what seems to me be a clique.

Hope you are all having fun :)

Welcome to Lit!!

I agree with May and Luv. I think sometimes as a new Litster, it can seem cliquey when actually it's not. I'm not part of a group or clique. As far as this thread goes, I just started posting when Chains created it and have felt at home here.

I'll banter back and forth with anyone on the boards. PMs of course are a different story. Sometimes I might not see a comment someone has made because I have left the thread or Lit, but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in being friendly.

Come play with us in this thread!! :D

My take:

Yes it was a poor idea for a thread, it was placed in the wrong forum, and there was really no way to really give an honest answer beyond pointing him to the exit. It may not have been hijacked by the definition of the word, whatever that is. It was definitely flamed. Mocking the OP is still mocking the OP. Which, if it’s me, and I have permitted it with my own self-deprecation, no harm no fowl. A new member with limited posts made it a bit trollish by the participants. It should have been ignored and left to die. Lit has a graveyard of dead threads for a reason.

To answer what is hijacking: I’d say when a thread is taken over and used in a way the OP didn’t designate it for. Like, Chit chatting on an ABC thread, two or more people taking over a thread to drown out or troll the OP, or to disrupt the thread because you’re bored.

Yes, I love fowls. Had some for lunch.

Innuendo - I believe too much can get tiring but that there needs to be some, who doesn't love a good play on words. My rule is typically one per thread post, and never more than 2 in a PM. Thoughts?

Can you really have too many sexual innuendos in a post on Lit?

Aren't PMs made for that kind of thing? Oh boy.....

I do get the difference between the friendships you make on here, because of how much time you spend, and where you spend that time. You see people day to day and friendships/ relationships are bound to happen. But there are many times I've seen the "newbies" post and their question either didn't get answered, or got passed up until the next cool kid posted. Then all were eager to reply to cool kids comments/questions.

Example. I made a comment in a females thread about her pictures, telling her she was very beautiful and it was a nice picture. She skipped right over my comment to whore herself out to the guys that were offering to fuck her. Then BFF girl comes in to jump on her popularity curt tails and she's all over her too. Does one need to say "you're hot, I'd fuck you" to get a thank you??

Don't get me wrong, I've had this happen in guys threads too. My simple comments get passed up to the next girl who's willing to cuss and swear at his hotness.

Or speaking of relationships. hot guys new lit gf gets all territorial about you posting in her BFs thread.. I actually got a PM once from Hot guys gf saying "he's mine, back off"
Um, yeah ok, I wont post in his thread anymore..

And thank you. You are not one of them I'd pegged as the bitchy cliquish kind. I just guessed your popularity comes from being nice to others. There's a difference. ;)

And if your island is warm, I'm there!!

I just don't get the whole whore myself out thing for attention. It actually makes me sad. I am as insecure as the next person but damn!! We all have that inner slut dying to get out and even letting her come out from time to time is super fun. But saying that you'd fuck, suck, and ravage every guy who ever comments on your pictures/comments. Really?
Is that an attractive thing for guys?? I mean sure, they want the hot chick to fuck, suck and ravage them, but at what point do they believe she really wants this, when she is saying it to everyone that posts???

Yeah, I agree. That sort of wide-open invitation is just asking for rudeness and an inbox full of smut.

I think this should go without saying, but the sort of people who randomly start playing with one-line posts should be run out of town on a rail, especially if their partner didn't agree to play with them. This has happened to me a few times and its annoying as all hell.

That seems harsh. I've had people pick up posting after me on a thread and I always take it as a sort of invitation to play. If I hang around then that tells them I'm interested, if I go elsewhere then I'm not.
I've even used that same sort of behavior as a kind of invite. If someone isn't interested I back off.
Chasing someone across every thread on the board when there's no kind of interplay is over the line IMO.

Sorry, maybe I didnt clarify what I meant. I'm thinking about the sort of people who, after you post a picture, take it as an invitation and start a role-play right then and there. For instance, one guy on a thread I (own?) responded to a post where I pretty much said " oh, I have a toy/device/item that looks like that" with something along the lines of:" With a nod, I watch as your panties slide to the ground, your bare pussy bare and ready for me"

Like, really dude? You can't get any so you resort to sneaking up on women and trying to have a scene right then and there without f*cking asking? He persisted for a while after I told him to knock it off too.

Wow...kinda classless

OK, I'm with you--that is just...ew.

I don't have a pair of balls big enough to try to pull that off in a PM much less put it into a thread, now combine that with the pathetic loser mentality, I guess anything is possible

and for future reference..

gravity is never enough for panties to fall to the ground.
panties that fall from the pull of gravity alone are too big.. you don't want women who wear those panties.

That one was funny.
