Loa Blood

Damien

Damien sored the skys over the southern coast line, he felt so alive when he was flying and it was what he did best. he tried to get Nikki out of his mind but could not. pulling a swift dive he turned around and head back to bay city....

Ghost

“Ash? Who the fuck is Ash? You better not be calling for help, cause I am hell of a lot faster than you think I am. Anyone comes through that door that I feel is a threat, than I will kill them and everyone, and you will watch them die. Aya, I am sorry, but all I see is possible Marrow island killers. You mother fucker go and get my sword from the closet and give it to me.”

He watches the man carefully and sees him go and get his sword, he brings it to him and Ghost snatches it from him and puts it in his belt.

“Thanks, sorry for being so rude, but as I told you before, DTA.”

He puts the gun down and seems to have changed in mind state.

“Again forgive me, I have a lot on my mind. I am sorry if I hurt you, but… thank you for treating me, I am in your debt. I don’t have any money or anything, but I think I should leave, for what I have done here, I think I wore out my welcome.”

He looks down, but still has the gun in his hand, the voices were completely pushed out of his mind now, and he saw things in a different light, he stopped thinking about revenge and now thought about what he was going to do. He looked over at Aya and she still sat wide-eyed.

“Aya, I am sorry.”

Doctors and nurses move quickly through the corridors under the innocuous little hotel. They all heared the shot, and it came from the Loa Gifted's room. All they know is that he has a metal arm, they don't know what he can do with it, so they're assuming the worst. Patients (all criminals and fugitives, including several asylum escapees) and medical equipment are loaded into the freight elevator, and brought to the surface. In the alley behind the hotel, the underground medics begin loading their unmarked ambulances to abandon the complex and move their patients elsewhere.

Kryna sees a team of nurses trying to move Andante as quickly and quietly as possible. One gives him a shot to knock him out. The nurses motion for her to follow them.

Ghost hears movement in the hallway behind him.
______________________________________

Outside there is screaming. Damien swoops in low over downtown. Nikki looks out the window of the Little Aralia bar. Faith looks out the window of Detective Price's apartment. Mary looks out the window of her loft. Dex looks out the window of his hotel.

A block away, the majestic wooden church is in flames. A few police are trying to contain the panic in the street, while the worshippers are trapped inside. There are no firefighters on the scene.

Standing on a rooftop nearby, an Argon woman watches. The flames dance reflected in her eyes, a grim smile on her lips.

After a while Dex steps out of the steamy shower, his mind also a little cleaner for it. Things had been so... dramatic this past week. He's beginning to feel the definite need to unwind. He grabs a towel and dries himself a bit as he walks across his room to open a window for a little fresh air.

He stands there for a moment, toweling his hair off. The sound of sirens meet his ears and he wonders what could be wrong now. The faint smell of smoke tingles his nostrils and his eyes widen.

Quickly, Dex throws on some clean clothes and darts out the door. A few seconds later he goes back in and grabs the mask and glove, which he throws in a small back pack and shoulders it.

He proceeds down to the street where he uses his keen vision to scan the situation, taking shots of anything important with his mind.

Kryna follows the nurses and Andante into the elevator and up to the surface, as they’re loading Andante into one of the ambulances she notices thick smoke coming from a building just out of sight.

“What’s on fire over there?” She asks one of the nurses.

“There’s a Church of the Wheel over there. They’d be having services right about now”

Thinking that there were probably people trapped inside. She didn't hear any sirens, so no firefighters there yet. She took about half a second to weigh her options. “Where are you taking the patients?”

After the nurse gives her directions to the alternate facility, Kryna calls Fagin and tells him where they’re taking Andante. Fagin being available to go wait with Andante helps her make the decision.
“I’m going over to the fire to see if they need any help there, I have a friend who will be coming to stay with Andante.”

The nurse nods and they close the ambulance doors. Kryna watches the ambulance drive away a minute hoping that she won’t loose contact with Andante again. Then turns and takes off at a jog heading towards the Church.

“Fagin will make him understand. I only hope Fagin can make him understand why I left again,” she tells herself.

Monolith

THe building was creaking and groaning over me as I stood just inside the hole I had made. All around me the fire raged, & while a few people stumbled by me and outside of the burning building, most were too disoriented or overcome with smoke. I turned to yell at the gawkers to help, when I heard a great cracking sound above me. I looked up and noticed that the crossbeam above me was almost ready to collapse! I moved in a bit & grabbed the beam, pushing up with all my might until the groaning in the wood stopped, but it was all I could do to hold it up. I wasn't going to be able to hold this for very long.
" BY THE MAKER, SOMEBODY GET IN HERE AND GET THE PEOPLE OUT!!!!!!! I bellowed as loud as I could.

Kryna Ennairy (Paikairy)

As she approaches the church she hears a familiar voice bellowing.

“BY THE MAKER SOMEBODY GET IN HERE AND GET THE PEOPLE OUT”

Dashing around the corner of the building she sees Monolith holding up part of the building.

“I’ll start pulling them out, you just give me plenty of warning if you have to let go of that beam” She shouts back before running into the burning building grabbing the nearest unconscious person under the arms and dragging them out. She pulls the neck of her shirt up over her mouth and nose in an attempt to filter out some of the smoke

Mary

"Hey there, sleepy head" Mary smiled at Kell as he crossed the room.

She'd been working on a poem with the words "mockingbird" or maybe "mockery" in it. She really wanted to use those words, but it just wasn't coming easily.

"Let me get us some breakfast." She crossed to the small "kitchen" area with it's hotplate and small fridge but had barely begun when she glanced out the window."

"Ye Gods!" Shen opened the window and the smell of smoke came into the room. "There's a hell of a fire two blocks over, I can see the flames from here!"

(OCC, there, as open ended as I can make it since we have a bit of a time flow problem)

Nikki left the safety of the car shouting back to her new friends "I'll be back to accept that help but right now I need to see if they need any help at the fire." One of the men tossed her a cloak to mask her appearance. She didn't want to run into another bounty hunter. Thanking him she put it on and ran out the door. She came to the fire, it was a church and it was obvious people were still trapped. She noticed then that Monolith was there and so was Krynna. She hesitated a moment before rushing in. Slipping into the church unnoticed because of the chaos she hurried to the first collapsed person lending them her shoulder to lean on as she helped them out of the church before hurrying back for more. Suddenly there was a loud crack and a religious statue that was on fire began to topple over underneath was a young boy unconsious from the smoke. without even thinking Nikki glared at the statue flinging it away from the boy and hurrying to his side. Then she began to drag him towards an exit no longer trying to hide her presence.

Dex stows the pack behind a garbage can in a nearby ally and pulls the mask and glove on. His fingers snugged into the cyber glove, he makes a fist and concentrates his vision on the woman on top of the building, on her twisted smile and look of pleasure.

Then he focuses on the church and Monolith for a few minutes, going infra red to get a better shot of him.

He flags down a police officer. "I'm a Super, I'm here to help. There's a woman up there on top of that building, she looks like she's enjoying thise scene and should be apprehended."

Damien

Damien flew in low around the building he saw the Monolith holding up one side on the building. he lands and runs ove to him, as he does he turns his wings upright and begins to stop debrie. he looks over to Monolith "How's all in there" he asked.

Kell had slept without event and woken up early to get his clothes, nicely dry, and put them back on. While greatly wrinkled, they felt clean.

Still, even after his shower, he felt grimy -- covered with a dirt he could not possibly remove. His face twisted into a grumpy expression and he collasped on the couch again with a loud thump, causing Mary to notice him.

"Hey there, sleepy head."

Kell glanced up dourly and tried to manage a smile, but it looked like a grimace. He tried to greet her, but all that came out was, "Hhrrmpmh." He was tired. He hadn't felt so worn out last night... was it the self-repairing he had done? Or just the overuse of his powers? Or both?

Shaking his head quietly, and remembering that he was a guest, he tried again, and this time was able to fashion a weak smile. However, by this time, Mary was staring out the window with a shocked expression.

"Ye Gods! There's a hell of a fire two blocks over, I can see the flames from here!"

Kell's eyes widened and he stepped in, glancing out the window. "A fire? Why aren't there any sirens? That fire looks really far gone... this can't be good." He bowed his head quietly and sighed.

What am I doing with my life? I've got nothing to live for now. Nothing of my past remains -- except maybe Mary, and a few things in my uncle's house that are probably already gone, taken by the police for evidence. What am I going to do with these powers?

Damn it. I was still trying to figure out why I shouldn't just give up and die. I was still trying to figure out why I should even play through this big cosmic joke, hoping for a fufillment at the end -- hoping for an end to all the means, and not just existing as a meaningless transfer from dead matter to dead matter. And now I have to worry about this responsibility too. What am I going to do with my creating and destroying powers?

I could become a superhero. Funny, that used to always be my dream. If I was a hero, I would be able to protect people. I would've been able to protect...

...but it doesn't matter. People die. People are weak. I'm a person, and I have human weakness. I don't know why I should waste my time saving people's lives. There are more important things -- like discovering the secrets of the universe. If I transcended humanity with these powers, then...

...but where would I start? How in the name of the Ever-Turning Wheel can I do that?

Hey... isn't there a Church of the Wheel around that burning area? And this is prayer time...

"Damn it!" hissed Kell, scowling and snapping out of his silent reverie. "It might be the church burning!" He rushed over to the couch and grabbed his jacket, tugging it over him. He glanced back at Mary, his eyes softening as she looked at her.

Why is the look of her concern on her face so beautiful to me?

He shook his head slightly. "Mary, I'm going to go make sure everything's okay. There might not be anything I can do, but... I'm going to try." He turned back, walking to the door, and opened it, glancing to her one more time with a soft smirk.

"It's not like I have anything better to do."

Closing the door behind him, he left, rushing to the scene of the blaze.

"GEt..THE...PEOPLE...OUT!" I said through clenched teeth. The pain was spreading through my arms and back, and my legs were now trembling. I was reaching the limits of my endurance, but I would NOT give up. I stood firm as people moved past me removing the victims.
Hurry, I don't know how much longer I can hold this.

Kell's eyes widened and he stepped in, glancing out the window. "A fire? Why aren't there any sirens? That fire looks really far gone... this can't be good."

While Kell shrugged into his coat Mary reached for the phone. Why weren't there any sirens? "Hello, this is..." She paused, forgetting who she was sapossed to be at this address, at this time. "There is a big fire over by the Church of the Wheel off of Nashai Ave, I can see the flames from my apartment two blocks away."

She looked up as Kell said he was going there, and she wanted to call him back. Or go with him. But long years of habit kept her here, safe and hidden.

"You have a report? Ok. I just didn't hear any ..." The dispatcher began requesting information as Kell muttered something and slipped out the door. Mary hung up the phone without responding to the queries and stared out the window.

"Be safe." she muttered under her breath.

By the time Kell reaches the scene, Kryna and the cloaked Nikki have gotten most of the worshippers safely outside. The people they've dragged out are all badly burned. Nikki's cloak is scorched in several places, and Kryna's arms are burned as well.

The smoke and pain have taken their toll on Kryna and, when she sees that others have arrived to help, she slips away quietly into an alley.

The cop Dex speaks to seems stunned. "Supers? What the hell?" Then he looks up to the figure on the rooftop. "That's Kate Becket! Halt or I'll fire!" he yells at the woman, drawing his gun.

Kate steps away from the edge of the roof. Her party has gone sour. It doesn't even look like anyone died. She braces herself, and runs across the rooftop, jumping the short gap to the next building, grabbing onto the fire escape. As the police officer storms up the stairs of the first building, Kate breaks a window on the second with her hammer. She steps through the window, and runs through the office inside, heading for street level. Her madness shines like a beacon, and Damien can see her running even through the building's walls.

Back at the Church, only two elderly couples remain inside, trapped in a corner by a great sheet of flame. Finally, sirens can be heared approaching.

"Well, shit. It's the church."

Kell looked up at the Church of the Wheel, grimacing as an outpost of the great religion seated in Sejealea, an outpost of faith in a faithless world, began to collapse under the weight of the fire.

I used to believe in this shit too. The philosophy of the Wheel was pretty clever, too. Of course, the philosophy of the Old Polytheists was clever, also, but the Wheel was better thought out. That's why it spread.

And now... faithless bastard people. Who gives a damn if the Loas created us? Who created the damn Loas? Doesn't anyone wonder?

Kell grimaced as the timbers began to snap, and then started as he saw a woman who had been helping people fade into an alley.

"H-Hey, wait," stammered Kell, "don't go, I can help you with those... burns... oh, well."

He turned back, staring into the flames.

Trial by fire, huh?

He smirked.

"It's not like I have anything better to do," he whispered again.

And rushing forward, flashing a dark and sardonic smile at the surprised Monolith, he dove into the flames.

Pain. So much pain. He had felt pain before, though. He reveled in the pain. And yet -- when the flesh began to scorch off his bones, and the smoke began to clog his nose, he felt fear again. So much fear. He didn't think he could do it.

He was going to die.

And it didn't even seem like there was anyone left.

Kell began to chuckle softly, even as the timbers cracked around him. Reality is merciless. But I guess my powers aren't well suited for this sort of thing. I guess... I guess I'm not as good as I thought.

Then he realized he had been standing there for an entire minute and he wasn't dead.

The flames wouldn't touch him anymore.

Kell glanced around, and saw the the flames seemed to shy away from him, as if afraid to burn him, and looking down at his hands, he saw darkness emanating from one of them, spreading out around him...

Hah! Not only can I annihilate matter, I can annihilate energy! This hand is a damn black hole, that's what it is!

He smiled and bowed his head, even as he reached down with his other hand to heal his own major burns.

I AM the Destroyer. And look -- I am also the Creator. Never mind what I cannot do! I can do EVERYTHING! Hah!

"Hah," muttered Kell, smirking. Slowly the smirk turned into a wide smile. "Hahaha!" His eyes narrowed and he began to walk forward.

"Ahahahahahah!"

The darkness surrounding him landed on a huge flaming beam in front of him, causing the fire to turn away and the beam to slowly weaken. Kell waited for about ten seconds, chuckling to himself, before executing a side kick and busting through the beam, snapping it in half. Behind it huddled an immensely surprised old couple, staring with wide eyes at him. Surrounded by flames, his black jacket rippling around his entirely black-clad frame, Kell was quite a sight.

His voice was quiet and soft, yet it seemed to echo throughout the burning building.

"Hello. My name is Kell Claudas. I am the one who juggles light and darkness. Now that I am here, you have nothing to fear."

Except me.

Stepping forward, he deactivated his darkness in order not to burn the couple and grit his teeth, temporarily charging his own muscles with light so he could carry both of them. It was only then that the full force of his exhaustion hit him. His mere human body could not contain the bizarre powers he had. His darkness function was not meant for emanating enough darkness at once to keep fire away from him. He felt his nose begin to bleed, and his stomach was boiling.

Shaking and quivering, he picked up the two elderly people with surprising ease and rushed with unsteady legs through the flames. Unable to dive forward through the flames again with the two people hanging on for dear life, his supercharged muscles quivering and ready to turn in on themselves and vanish completely, he shouted "Hold your breath!" and simply walked through the fire, spraying as much darkness as he could to keep the flames away from the elderly people without hitting them with the darkness.

It wouldn't do to have them die before I came out, after all...

He stepped forward, walking slowly past Monolith, who was still holding up the remnants of the building. He took a few more slow steps, and set the elderly people down, who then stepped back away from him with wide eyes, unsure of what to make of him. He took a few more steps forward, and looked up, his eyes gleaming. He reached up, slowly, with one hand.

"Mary..." he whispered. "Help..."

And he collasped, quivering and twitching. He managed to banish his supercharged muscles which were about to turn on him, but he was barely able to do that -- and as they were holding up the rest of his body, he simply fell. Unable to summon the energy to heal is own burns, he simply lay quietly while his body writhed of its own accord like a snake stabbed through the heart, his body and brain unable to comprehend how he survived and living out their confusion through nonsensical movement.

After a few moments, he tried to speak, and only then realized how many burns he had on his face. Trying to talk through them was hard and extremely painful, but he managed it.

"Who... did... this.... Where... is... he..."

Slowly raising his hand to his face, he tried to heal himself, but only a few motes of light came out, only causing a few small burns to fade a little. Still, it was enough for the elderly people to be shocked again, realizing that he was capable of restoring flesh...

Faith

Very annoyingly Price got a phone call before Faith would deside if she wanted to make a play for him and he quickly dressed and with a peck on the cheek and a quick "Call you later" dashed out the door.

After smelling her own breath it was probably a good thing that he hadn't been more forward. She gargled with some of his mouthwash and called for a cab, reading the address from a bill. She noted his bills and junk mail were all jumbled together and some of the bills were in yellow envelopes so she stacked them neatly on the kitchen table with a note: PAY THESE.

When the cab came she gave the driver the address of the hostel and relaxed in the back seat watching her new home town unfold outside the window.

"Hey, Songra, des is somethin' happen' up dere, so I thin' we take a detour." The cabbie said.

Peering ahead she saw that the streets ahead were filled with people rushing towards or away from a huge burning church. "That's ok, I'll get out here." she said, tossing him a tenner and slipping from the cab. She popped in a new memory stick in her camera and joined the throng raceing towards the fire.

Damien looked over to the west as he hears Price screaming at a woman. He can see her running even through the building's walls. "this must be more of the Loa power" he said quitely to himself. he turned back to the building and looked around. the fire engines where on there way.

Damien stopes just for a second, just long enough to sense a couple still inside. He turns back to Monolith "There's still two inside, can you hold it much longer? Monolith grimming his teeth shakes his head no. "Fine I'll get them out thought the roof." Damien says this as he runs inside the church on last time. he finds the elderly couple in the back corner. Lifting both of them up he heads for the nearest exit to the roof.

Drawing them closer into his body, Damien slames his wings down and takes off. lifting into the sky. He lands just as Monolith drops the part of the building he was holding. Damien sets the oldder folks down. He starts to walk way just as he does he feels a sharp jagged pain in his left shoulder. he spins around to find the same pain in his chest. his only thoughts were i've been shoot. He falls to the ground...

He last sight this time is seeing a strange woman dressed in black holding a Hammer and a gun.......

Detective Price arrives with the firetrucks. He directs his men towards the wounded, and then starts searching the scene, gun drawn. This looks like a Beckett job, and Kate always liked to stick around to watch the action. But where was she?

As Damien bursts through the burning roof of the Church, the building lets out a final groan, and collapses. Sparks and flames rise high into the air as the timbers come crashing down, burying Monolith in the basement.

When Kate reaches ground level she looks out at the group of Gifted who destroyed her masterpiece. The winged one seems to be the most mobile, and thus the biggest threat to her escape. She raises her flare-gun and fires, the heavy magnesium round coming apart in the air, and slamming into the Draconian Prince in two places. She glances at the gun. Only one flare left. Kate runs down the alley, away from the crowd around the Church.

Nikki stumbled out of the church coughing and burnt in more then one place. She glanced around prepared to sneak off when someone caught her eye. Damien... he was leaving as well. She was about to force herself to turn away when she saw him stumble then fall. He was shot! Her eyes searched the crowd catching a brief glimpse of a figure running. No time to run after them, instead she turned and ran to Damien kneeling by his side. She gently turned him onto his back and checked his pulse. He was still alive, she began searching for his wounds. The arm wound wasn't that bad but the chest wound could prove dangerous. Throwing caution to the wind she shouted at a near by medic. "Hey this guy has been shot, help him please." The medic heard her and left to get help. She turned back to Damien. She couldn't stay, if she was discovered... She layed her hand on his cheek calling to him with her mind. 'Damien it's Nikki. Hang in there please, the medics are going to take care of you. Your not aloud to die ok? You die and I'll be forced to kick your ass. You need to stay alive...' She broked off because the medics had arrived with a stretcher. He would be ok she assured herself. She touched her fingertips to his lips in a fleeting caress then stood up and slipped away into the alley watching as they attended to his wounds.

Dex turns from the officer and tries to follow the woman on the roof but can't keep sight of her. He stops for a moment, looking around for anything that would be helpful.

Just then, the winged Prince bursts through the roof and spreads his wings for flight. Dex takes his vision in a little closer and watches for a moment, ready to try to grab his attention and direct him toward the woman.

Before he has a chance a flare goes off and slams into the Prince. Dex cringes as he sees that, and takes off at a run. He's trying to shadow Damien who's shadowing the arsonist.

Faith

"Shit, shit, shit." Faith mutters under her breath.

So much going on! She quickly zoomed in her camara as much as she could to get shots of the Gifted: Some seemed to be responding to the peril of the humans, some seemed to be battleing it out amongst themselves.

For now, she was trying to get as much on film as she could. Fact sorting could come later.

She quickly got some shots of the victims, the Church itself and the response team, which, not surprizeingly included Price before retraining her lens on the Gifted again just in time to see some kind of weapon being fired...

The explosion was massive and glareingly bright. She instinctivly ducked down and covered her head. After a moment she glanced up. Oh goddess! The Church had collapsed and even more people were down! Includeing Gifted! A winged figure rose from the smoke and flames and she had the presence of mind to rasie her camrea again and get a shot of that awesome sight before darting towards the mess to see if she could lend any aid...and catch some quotes.

Damien knew what death was like, he felt it before. when the loa touched him for the very first time, he was pretty much fucking his ex-lover at the time of the explosion. Both of the felt the ground rock as the building cought on fire, spilling Loa everywhere. Damien raised up as the blood hit him in full force as did it to Jen. She screamed as he body began to change as did Damien's unforgently Jen's body rejected the change and killed her, Damien was shocked to see her body melt right before his eyes.

Damien was violently torn from Death as he heard a voice call to him.
''Damien it's Nikki. Hang in there please, the medics are going to take care of you. Your not aloud to die ok? You die and I'll be forced to kick your ass. You need to stay alive...'

Damien could only smile in his dreams as Nikki's voice brought him back from the dead agian........

Kate glanced back at her pursuers, and ahead at the crowds of people and cars blocking the streets. She realized she might not get away. Quickly, she ducked into a deeply recessed doorway, and then grabbed at the first person to run by, a pretty Locrian girl with a camera.

Kate pulled Faith into the doorway with her, holding the hammer's claw to the girl's jawline. "You fight, you die." she said. She kept her back to the wall, with Faith in front of her, her flare gun readied for anyone coming down the alley towards them.

Monolith

The building was groaning around me as I focused all my willpower into one act, remain standing. I felt figures move by me, then the entire floor shifted. With a shriek of wood and metal, the building collapsed, taking me down with it.
** Milk. Why does she need milk at 2AM? Oh, yea, because she wanted to bake her mom a cake, and we are out. Well, at least the convience store down the block has milk. Hmm, think i'll grab some wine while I'm here. Maybe we can get more than a cake baked tonight. Still smiling I went to pay for my goods, & noticed something strange. Usually Adam was a cheerful kid, always smiling, but right now he looked scared to death. Something was making the small hairs on the back of my neck stand up, so I reached for my handgun, when I heard something behind me. I turned & looked, and saw two teenagers, a boy and a girl, both armed. I started pulling my piece when I felt to massive blows to the chest and began falling.......
falling.....
falling.........**

With a roar I stood, flinging burning debris and pieces of the building off of me. I stood, looking wildly around me, & noticed as Faith was pulled back into a doorway bu what looked like a woman.
A very familiar woman.
I leapt from the wreckage of the church and landed in a crouch at the mouth of the alley, then slowly stood, the burning rags of my clothes outlining my body as if I had just emerged from the gates of Hell.
