Loa Blood

Dex looks on at the scene in front of him, a little stunned by all that has taken place tonight. Slowly he lowers the weapon he's holding until it slips from his fingers and falls to the ground with a clatter.

He looks up toward the sky blankly, mind capturing the silhoutte of the crane and its enigmatic cargo against the moonlight. Dex leans against a cargo container with one arm, head down, back toward the waters of the harbor.

After a few minutes of thinking, a white glow emanates from Dex's hand and then in an instant disperses. Taking a deep breath, he turns around once more and opens his eyes, looking at the group of people around him. (Some may notice some new markings on the crate he was leaning against, an effect of Dex's ability to transfer images from his mind to objects, though he doesn't realize it yet.)

"Well, now what," he inquires, a bit exasperated.

Kryna Ennairy

Watches the blood spurt from the neck of the man she shot, and takes a few deep breaths trying to calm her queasy stomach and dizzy head. Hearing the sirens in the distance she perks up her head and nearly panics. She can’t afford to wait around and give explanations to the police.

Still lying low to keep out of sight she slithers her way across the cargo container, and slides down the side of it, keeping out of the range of the cameras. Fighting nausea and lightheadedness she runs and stumbles her way through the maze of containers, the smooth moves typical of her profession are gone.

“Oh god I just killed someone,” she whispers a sob rising in her throat. “I’ve got to get out of here.” She leans against a container trying to catch her breath and ease her panic. Staring blankly at the mini-computer in her hand as if she had just remembered it, she starts playing with the controls.

Suddenly all the floodlights in the area go out plunging the docks into darkness. She starts slowly lowering the crane holding the Loa hoping everyone’s attention will be focused on it, and also hoping she doesn’t let it hit the ground too hard. She starts running away from the scene towards the far end of the docks looking for a way to slip out unnoticed when she hears people shouting from back by the warehouse.

Damien stood up when the lights went out on the docks, being who he was he decide to stay and explian to the police why the ship was attacked and why there was a dead man on the ground.

The Bees forgently had gotten away empty handed, somebady was going to be pisted at them. He looked around in the dark and wonder what his father was going to think about this mess.

Damien just waited.....

The darkness of the docks is broken by firelight, and by police searchlights. The police and reporters all have the coal black, gold-flecked skin of Argon natives. The police head immediately for the Killer Bees, two unconscious, and one dead. The last Bee, who had surrendered, seems to have escaped in the darkness. Two officers approach Dex, still in Bee armour, with their guns drawn.

"Give it up, punk. You have the right to remain silent . . . "

The reporters, on the other hand, head for the wounded Damien, with a barage of predictable questions about the incident and his involvement in it. While it is well known that the Draconian resources were being recovered to Argo, this shipment had been secret, the small security force trusting that no-one knew when and where the Loa blood was arriving.

Nikki could only look at the man she had saved. He was incedibly good looking. She had finally found her voice when the reporters started towards them. She looked at the man "I'm Nikki. Sorry for the momentary lapse. I guess I just wanted to make sure you were alright." she blushed at her lame excuse. Well she couldn't very well have told him it was because he was so handsome.

Up ahead she spots another, smaller warehouse on the far edge of the dock enclosure. Pulling out her lock picks again she opens the door and slips inside. As she waits for her eyes to adjust to the dark, she focuses on thinking about anything but what happened tonight. Moving carefully through the building she finds what she was looking for, a door that leads out of the dock area. She looks to make sure she’s out of the range of the reporters and the police, slips through the door, and starts walking down the street casually.

Taking a circuitous route back to her hotel, she uses every precaution she can think of to make sure she isn’t associated with tonight’s events. She manages to maintain her casual demeanor until she gets back inside her room.

After closing the door she starts shaking again and runs to the bathroom to be sick. All the horrible things that have happened lately come crashing down on her. She screwed up a burglary, was exposed to Loa, can't contact her brother, and now she killed for the first time. She falls face first onto the bed and escapes into sleep.

Damien shielded his eyes as the lights came back on to reveil the Bay City police department in full force here at the docks.

he looked over to the girl next to him as she spoke "I'm Nikki. Sorry for the momentary lapse. I guess I just wanted to make sure you were alright." He smiled at her "Names' Damien, nice to meet you. for the first time Damien noticed the girl who saved his life. he noticed that she blushed for a second, this made him smiled even more. trying for a quick second Damien looked into her mind, his grin only went wider..

"Mr.Damien Dufray, I take it?" Damien looked over to the man that was talking to him. "Yes I am, who are you?"

The man frowned "Det. John Price Bay City PD, I'd like to ask you a few questions, sir?"

Damien signed this was going to be a long night......

Nikki felt something touch her mind. Since her telekenesis her psycic awareness had amplified. She looked at Damien. Could he have been the touch? No it couldn't be him. She made a mental note of the occurance and looked up as Det. John approached. She merely stood of to the side loathe to leave Damien's company despite her unease around the lawman.

Damien frowned at the Det.
"yes you may Det. so what do you have to ask?"

Det. Price moved closer to Damien "Mr.Dufray, what was in the shipment from Dranco?"

Damien smiled "Well Det. that you can ask the UN members here in Bay City. other then that. I can't tell you. Any other questions?" Price frowned. "Well sir, I do have one question, Why is that man dead?" Damien smiled agian. and knew he had to cover for Nikki "He attacked me and I killed him self defense, is that ok for you." Price turned around and started to walk away "for now it is but we'll be getting back to you."

Damien frowned at Price as he walked away, he turned to Nikki "your welcome."

Nikki smiled despite the situation. "Thank you for covering for me. Are you sure your ok? You came pretty close to dying. I'm just glad I was able to get to you in time." she realized she was beginning to ramble so she stopped talking another blush creeping up her neck. Why did she feel so self concious around this guy. She wasn't normally so shy.

Damien smiled and placed his left hand on his side and the right around Nikki for support "belive me little lady, I've been thought worse before, now let's head over to the hotel so i can rest a little bit"

Nikki felt her blush deepen as he placed his arm around her. Damn it this was getting annoying. She was determined to get over this silly nervousness. With grim determination she put on a calm face and slowly helped him to the hotel.

Detective Price yelled to the departing Damien, "Get one of my men to take you to a hospital. You look like shit. Then come by the station to talk to me. Bring your lady friend."

The detective took at look at the cannisters on the ground before walking over to the Bee-armoured Dex. Whatever Damien's "official line" might be, these were clearly cannisters of Loa blood. A secret shipment from Dracon. There would probably be more, as the salvage opperations continued to clear the monster-infested island. And his force couldn't keep up with attacks by organized gangs like the Killer Bees. They could barely keep a handle on ordinary crime in Bay City.

The black-skinned Detective ran his hand through his greying hair as Dex's helmet came off. "What's your story, then? You're no Aralian thug."

As Damien walks away, he can feel Dex's innocence in his mind.

((ooc: I don't recall seeing an OOC section to this um... thread. So if this post is going to be a problem, feel free to let me know.))

- The sounds of the rain against the hospital windows made Hotaru shiver as she looked outside... it was like music to her, each tiny droplet lead to a rhythm which danced in her mind....

Her bright violet eyes looked past her clad nurse uniform, her choppy short raven hair, her steadfast look of innocence...

A silver name tag grazed her uniform, and read her name, simply put... "Hotaru Tomoe"... but not everybody excepted the fact that young 18 year old woman.. was a hired nurse at this hospital.

And of course, in her mind.. it was the place she needed to be, she had the strange ability to heal others ever since she was young. Even though she was merely only working there as her fathers assistant... he had decided she should stay there for good. Because, whenever Hotaru was doing rounds... the patients miraclously recovered, they felt no pain after the young woman touched them... she had been well known after a short time, and had been call upon to work 15.. sometimes 18 hours a day.

But little did anyone know, it took its toll on her... with every person she healed she took on their pain.. not their disease, just the pain. But when she saw the joy on their faces... she would bite the bullet and pretend nothing was wrong... she would pretend that she was just... invinsible...

And now, with the rain getting heavier around the hospital grounds she wondered... what kind of victims it would pull in tonight... -

((ooc: As I said um.. any problems and just let me know, I do plan on venturing out.. I just took in the hospital bit because of Swamp Thing's last post ))

The black-skinned Detective ran his hand through his greying hair as Dex's helmet came off. "What's your story, then? You're no Aralian thug."

"No... an Aralian thug I am not," Dex started slowly, running his fingers though his own grayish hair.

"I'm a scientific reporter actually (not altogether untrue, and a story he's learned to stick to in tight spots). I've been tracking this ship's special cargo. Tonight these thugs showed up and wasted no time in slaughtering the guards that were here on duty to get to the this cargo," he gestures toward the canisters as he speaks about the cargo.

"Things got very ugly very quickly and I took to impersonating one of them just to survive. The most of it is mostly a blur I'm afraid, I only know what I saw. Thugs on bikes, and in boats with a rocket launcher. This place is a disaster area. I'd be glad to keep quiet on what I saw if you'll just get me a room somewhere around here so I can take a load off, you know," Dex's eyes implored the officer.

- Loa blood, her exposure to it so long ago.. gave her this strange healing magick...

She sighed softly, wondering what was going on outside the hospital with her father being out doing house calls...

It was about time she headed home anyway, she didn't want to be stuck in the hospital again that night.

Peeling herself away from the window sill she eased her way through the hallways, nodding towards the patients that nodded and waved her farewell. They knew she would back tomorrow, even though she was just exchausted..

Not only was her Dad a doctor, he also owned one of the motel chains.. which she had to watch over... for a couple of hours that night.

She walked out of the hospital and to her slick 98' Mercury Cougar, and slipped inside. She tried to ignore the fact that her petite 5'4 figure could barely look over the steering wheel...

Pulling into the motel she walked into the office, looking at the girl behind the counter... the lady named Sally who had been working at the motel for a year now... -

Sally: "Good Evening Ms. Hotaru, am I free to go now?"

- Hotaru forced her best smile and nodded, watching as Sally got her stuff together... -

Sally: "Vera should be here in a couple of hours, her shift starts at Midnight"

Hotaru: "Thank you Sally... "

- After a moment, Hotaru had slipped into the chair, keeping her eyes on the security camera... hopefully the two hours would go by quickly, and she could be on her way.. -

Detective Price takes down the false information provided by Dex's employer. He takes the Bee armour as evidence, and tell's Dex not to leave town. He recommends a hotel, and says he'll contact Dex there when he wants to ask him more questions.

As Dex walks away from the scene, firetrucks are spraying down the remains of the docks. He sees the 12 Loa cannisters being loaded into an armoured Coda Corp. truck, and getting a police escort away from the scene. From his research, Dex knows the Argo-based corporation was paying for the Loa tests on Dracon Island, and is claiming all of the salvaged resources from the site.

Meanwhile, at her desk in the hotel, Hotaru sees a news report about an incident at the docks. An undisclosed "shipment" was attacked by the notorious Killer Bees. The attack was stopped by winged celebrity Damien Duffray, and some unknown helpers. The footage clearly shows police officers talking with an attractive, if somewhat disheveled, grey-haired man.

Damien swiped his card into the lock as he and nikki entered his room, she stoped at the door as Damien made his way over to the bed, standing next to it, he removed his shirt with much pain.

He heard Nikki gasp as the shirt came off to reviel his back to her, besdie the wings there were many scares from his transformation years ago. He smiled to himself when he felt her mind blush slightly.

Damien fell face first into the bed finally getting the well derserved rest he needs..

Nikki just stands there....

"hmm..."

- Hotaru watched the news coverage, tapping her fingers on her desk... -

"The killer bees..... attack again.... seems Loa is becoming more and more wanted in the world out there... "

- Closing her violet eyes she leans back in her chair, sighing softly as she pried her nurse hat off of her head and sat it beside her...

Loa Blood...

It was a gift, it was a curse. -

"That.. man... "

- Hotaru looked at the grey haired man on the screen... who was that old man? She shrugged the thought away and closed her eyes....

In only 6 hours she was due back at the hospital.. she might as well get any rest that she could.. -

Nikki felt herself blush again when Damien took his shirt off. The wings surprised her but didn't repell her. Instead it intrigued her even more. And despite the scars Damien had a very nice body. She didn't know what to do standing akwardly just inside the room. Did he want her to leave? "Damien?" she grew angry when her voice came out tentative. Why did he affect her so much? She wasn't a complete innocent and yet she felt like one. Taking a deep breath she stepped deeper into the room her eyes on him. She searched for something to say "Can I get you anything?"

Damien rooled over on the bed as he heard Nikki's voice. the voice was soft and lovely. Damien couldn't help but smiled "Not really, if you would like to keep me company that would be nice."

Damien patted the spot next to him on the bed.......

Nikki smiled almost shyly and sat down beside him. She felt her gaze pulled to his bare chest and had to force her eyes back to his face. He had noticed her staring and she searched for an excuse "Where did you get your wings?" she asked lamely feeling another blush cover her face. Damn it why couldn't she stop blushing.

Damien smiled at the question and looked up to her. "I got them when I was expose to Loa blood a few years ago." Damien could feel her emotions going into overdrive, but did nothing right now. He sat more up on the bed and sighed "sadly how i got my wings cuase the death of some many of my people." Nikki leaned more over to him "Your people?" she asked. Damien smiled "yes my people I am the crown prince of the island nation of Dracon, 2 years ago my fathered allowed Loa blood teasting to go on at own homeland, unforgently the plant that was doing the testing was not up to standards that it need to be and......" Damien looked up to the roof and just closed his eyes draging off. He could no longer talk about what happen in the past, it brought up to many fellings he did not want to deal with right now.

he looked back down at Nikki and with no warning leaned over and kissed her...

Nikki felt a sense of sadness wash over her at Damien's story. Could Loa Blood also allowed him to read minds? She still sensed something but it seemed to hard to believe a person could read someone mind. Then her thought process shut down as Damien's lips met hers. She froze then slowly melted unable to help but kiss him back.

Damien leaned her back slowly allowing her own wieght to bring her back, his lips and body were on fire. "god she tastes good" he said to himself. His hand fell down on her side, slowly rubbing. Damien felt his wings spread out. His train of thought completly gone, all he could think about was her...
