London calling... vacation pics YAWN

Day 2. On our walk down through Kensington Gardens, to the big museums, we saw the new Diana Memorial Fountain. It was fenced off, because a few people have slipped on the granite it's made of, but will be re-opened soon, now that new grooves have been ground into it. It's a pretty impressive sight...

Inside the Natural History Museum: My lot sat underneath the Brontosaurus skeleton...

it IS odd to knowI was there..not long ago. i bet our girls would have hit it off.

Yep, it sure is!

I notice he's stood in front of Traitor's Gate. You weren't led through it then!? ;) :p

And finally, my two stood on the very impressive steps inside the Natural History museum.

well.......

here's a shot from the top of St. Peter's dome....with the one who could make it. The eldest freaked with the final leg....narrow, open metal stairs. 600 and sumethin' stairs up.

I refused to go up there. Way too bloody high for me! Great pic, though and good on your little'un for going up.

waiting for the guards to change themselves.

We missed that. We did the "local" thing and used the underground all day (and our legs), except the Circle and District lines were closed due to maintainence. We ended up walking miles, but I'm sure I've lost weight. :D

So, it took us quite a while to get from one place to the next. Luckily I remembered London quite well (been there a few times over the years), so we didn't get lost anywhere.

The girls loved it - much more energy than their parents.

Thanks! It's been great sharing them with you and seeing more of yours.

My girls also loved shooting their tickets through the gate thingies, btw. I think they're missing that more than anything! :D

Catch you tomorrow, hon!

Lou

Lovely pics both of you... so glad you had a good time Lou... it's a must with the kids isn't it... we've got to take our little one up smoke again soon... she wants to see Tussauds again to see how it's changed since she was a littler one.

Nice way to start an AH picture thread you have here.:)

Cheers, Pops!

We had a great time, and you are right, it is a must with the kids. They are at a great age right now, for seeing the sights and so on. We didn't go to Tussaud's this year, as we thought they might be a little bit young to appreciate quite who all the people are. We'll go back up again in a couple of years and take them to stuff we didn't this time.

Yep, I agree, it is a good way to start one! :)

Well I might as well give Rhino's AH picture thread a bump with a couple of local pictures from my little home town.

First our peaceful market place.

But oh no what's this... it's been invaded by strange aliens??????

Here's one for your history trail one day Rhino... This is the old county hall on the far side of the market square... it was designed and built by Wren's school of architects, (him who did St Paul's)
