London calling... vacation pics YAWN

Nice set of pics Rhino mate... I like the way you told the truth rain storms and all, instead of glossing it over and showing the good bits... Eye opener isn't it mate... how the other half live like... I usually bore the family shitless insisting on going down the back streets as well as tourist spots.

Nice one mate holiday of a lifetime hey.

PS: yes we have a lot of those tiny cars as well, Smart Car's they're called... I think the idea is that you can carry them indoors at night and stand them behind the sofa so they don't get pinched.

Great pics, Rhino! I've thoroughly enjoyed looking through all of those. Although, I have to say, I did feel quite sorry for the poor lobster and prawns. The bamboo scaffolding sounds a bit dodgy, doesn't it!? You have had some amazing trips over the last couple of months, I am quite envious!

However, I've just come back from a weekend in London with my family and I'd like to add some of my own pics to this thread, if you don't mind, that is! Seems a bit daft to start up a new one.

I'll start posting them soon, if that's ok?

Cheers, mate!

Ok, I shall begin...

We went to the Tower of London, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Gardens (which is where our hotel was), and on the second day the big museums (Science Museum and Natrural History Museum).

I'll start with one of Tower Bridge, which we saw raise for a tall boat to pass beneath, as we were stood on one of the high walkways around the Tower of London.

The next two were taken in the old medieval part of the tower.

The throne...

A Yeoman Guard (Beefeater) who threatened to chop the heads off my two girls, for asking so many questions. :D

Big Ben, which we heard chime just as we got out of the underground station.

My girls posing outside Buckingham Palace. The two sentries are just visible in the background.

The statue of Eros (with me and my two stood in the foreground) on the roundabout outside Buckingham Palace.

So weird to know we've both been to the same places very recently. The Tower of London is great, isn't it? I last went there about 15 years ago and it is so much better presented now, with many more facilities - none of which spoil it at all.
