Lost city.( vampire, lycan etc roleplay,Open to all)

The big wolf gave a greatful whine before gently taking the sandwich off the woman, swallowing it down in two bites. She was hungry. After she finished eating, she sniffed around, seeing if there were crumbs she had dropped and nodded, content for now.

She looked up at the young woman. She seemed nice. She would keep a close eye on her. It wasn't safe to roam the streets like this at night, especially alone.

The big wolf leapt up onto her hindlegs, hearing a soft gasp issue from the woman, as she was the same height, if not taller, as the young woman while she was on her hind legs. She jumped a few steps and put her paws on the young womans shoulders and sniffed at her, then licked her face. She sniffed down at her neck, then at the amulet around her throat. She nudged it with her nose, and it began to glow a strange purple. The wolf gave a suprised yelp and scurried off across the road.

Garnet was at first suprised at the sudden movement of the wolf. But then she leaned her head back and grinned as it tried to lick her.

THen it tried to nuzzle her amulet. In a protective way it glowed purple, which seemed to scare the wolf away, and validate her suspicions that it was a lycan.

OOC: Lycan is another name for "werewolf". I actually belive it was the traditional name for them, but i could be wrong.

I'll be back on once my schedule returns to normal.

I moved slowly down the street and looked around me, sniffing the air as I did. I knew that there were mortals out in this city, they were all around me and although I could feel my hunger building inside me I knew that there were things more important out in these streets. The vampire that had killed my family just for the sheer fun of it was out here this night and I wanted nothing more than to kill her.

I had been tracking this butcher for years and every time that I had gotten close to her she had slipped away, leaving me with a clue as to how close I had been to her and where she might be next. I had been playing this game for more years than I could remember and I was truly sick of it.

It was then that I caught her scent in the air and ran towards it, wishing that I could change into my true form but I knew that the mortals around me would fear what they saw and try to attack me which would slow me down. I continued to run down the street as a human, the one thing I hated more than anything.

It was then that I spotted the vampire and although he smelt like the one I hunted it was not her and although I knew it was not I knew it was not going to save him. I felt myself change and let out a howl before I ran at him, my claws at the ready.

Dancing with these humans, these delicious morsels, is making me hungry again. But none of these humans interest me. No, I want that human I saw earlier on the street. Her power only makes me more interested.

On the rooftops again, I bound through the city, looking for her.

But I don't see, or sense, her. Well, I will continue to search. But, can't wait for too long. Need to fill in a crack or two, and if I don't find her, I will have to settle for an attractive girl. I don't need to drain her completely. Just a taste ....

Gideon licked at the fur around her muzzle. That sandwiched had really hit the spot. She flomped her form on the ground and panted happily. She curled up into a tighter ball as the wind picked up, but then stopped. She raised her head and sniffed the air. She smelt fur. She stood slightly and sniffed again. Yes... Definately fur. She got to her feet and sniffed, and walked off slowly, following the scent.

IC:

I entered the outskirts of the new city, cold and hungry. My body ached from the long journey I had made. I had no idea why I had ended up here, but something about this place called to me, made me think that I would find others of my kind here. The ones I had found in the other places had been old and not willing to help a fledging vampire such as myself. Would I ever find anyone to take me under their wing?

As I entered the city I breathed in the air, and already I sensed many that were out and about tonight, hunting. I also sensed that there was some other speices in this place, one that I had no knowledge of, except their name, lycans. Almost fearfully, I hurried along the city streets looking for a stray mortal to feed upon.

It wasn't long before I found someone that was just begging for their life to end. A obviously intoxicated man was throwing up in an alleyway as I passed and I frowned in his direction. Ever so slowly approaching him, my green eyes explored thier latest prey. He was an old man, in his late 60's, I sensed the bitterness of life coming from him. Even as I watched him, he noticed me and turned towards me, staring back.

"Rough night?" I said in a playful manner, and the man came down the alleyway towards me. "Come let me relieve your sorrows," I purred to him embracing him in a gentle hug. The man melted into me and drunkenly started to kiss my neck, so I returned the favor. He groaned a little as my sharp teeth entered his skin and I drank in his essence, his lifeforce. I thought if he hadn't been a drunk he would have been a handsome man, but none of that mattered now, it was over for him. The man's knees buckled and he collapsed to the ground, I went down with him. Finally I heard the fluttering of the heart, that meant he was about to die, and I savored the last drops of blood that came from him. Letting him fall into a heap, I licked the blood from my lips, satisfied now.

Walking out of the alleyway, my fear returned and I began the search to find a suitable place to stay. Street after street I walked, and I could sense them all around me. My fear took hold of me for a moment and I huddled against the wall of a tavern.

She was so young, so green, that I still smelt the human in her. My interest was sparked. I was still hungry for that powerful human I had met earlier, but several hours of looking had not turned up any trace of her. So, I had little to lose at this point.

I watched her take and drain a drunk. Easy prey. Child's play. Of course, this one was a child. What was she doing without her Master, or Mistress? A very curious situation, indeed.

I watched her, high above her head, as she left the allleyway, wandering throughout the city with no clear goal in sight. She finally came to rest against the wall of a bar, one that was of especially low repute amongst the humans.

"Greetings, young one," I hailed her with my mind.

I dropped down to the street in the direction she was not looking.

"Greetings, young one."

I heard the voice in my mind as clearly as if the words had been spoken aloud. There was another one of my kind, watching me, and she was speaking to me! I tried to be brave, to show this one that I was not afraid, but after so much time being by myself, I longed for someone to show me what my Master had not: The ways of this new world I lived in.

I searched the skies for the voice I had heard, but did not see anyone. "Please reveal yourself," I said, voice trembling. Would she hurt me? What was the truth about these creatures, for I had only the knowledge of movies. Was it true that the old ones despised and mistreated the young ones? Or would this stranger be kind to me?

I spun around looking for the voice, and in the shadows I saw a form. Trembling nervously, I waited for her to speak, to approach, to do anything that would tell me if her intentions with me were honorable, or evil.

I step forward, showing myself to her.

"I am here. Are you alone, child? Without your master? Or mistress? There is ... danger here. No place to be alone, even for an immortal."

I smile thinly. There is danger indeed, closer than you think. I don't say, or project, but it is true. This one I could rip apart without trying. I don't because I am almost as new to the City as is she. The Vampire that had contacted me earlier, who had warned me about my ways of Hunting, she had power. I assumed she was in control of this city, and that was a position I desired for myself.

This young one would be scorned by the Vampires in this city, I felt certain. Or destroyed. Perhaps, just perhaps, if I took her in, I could gain some kind of ... advantage.

As she stepped forward, my breath caught in my throat at her unearthly beauty. She seemed kind, and I liked her immediately.

"I am alone," I said softly. Even I could hear the pain radiating from my voice. "My Master made me and then disappeared three nights later. Can you help me?" I tried not to let my voice betray the need that I felt in my soul, but this one was older, she would notice. "What danger is there here?" I tried not to let the question just leave my mouth, but after so much time, my curiosity was overwhelming.

As though to answer her question, a distant howl was heard, echoing through the alleyways and streets of the City. The many buildings made it unclear what direction the sound came from, or how far away it was.

I did not fear for myself. A Lycan would be a welcome change, in fact. But this young one, she would likely succumb.

"We would be served better to discuss this in safety. Have you a place of residence?"

Yes, she is one I would have Made myself, had I met her as a human. She had potential. Even better, the human smell remaining on her told me that she was from Iberia, and my Family had moved there from Rome shortly after I was Made. I had lost track of them over the Centuries.

I reached out to take her hand.

"Come with me. We must be quick."

Would she trust me? If she did, I would be able to groom her according to My Will, and while she would never be my Thrall, she could make a useful servant.

I put my hand in hers as I answered, "I have no place to stay." Where was she taking me, this old one? She seemed to have honorable intentions, but I had learned that as with the human world, things were not always as they seemed. I wanted so badly to have someone to talk to, someone to explain everything about the world I now lived in, and what had happened to me exactly. I knew she would be able to answer my questions, so I put my faith in her, wherever she might lead me.

Her power was so puny, I felt held back by her. I led her through the streets rapidly, on the alert for Wolves, or even others of our kind. The best of vampires was by necessity cruel and heartless. Had I been established in the City myself, a Masterless vampire would provide me with no more than cruel sport for several hours.

I needed something more. While I now regretted dearly not Making that one delightful human, I felt certain that this young one, and that human of power from earlier tonight, could be used to further my developing aims.

"I have a loft apartment. It is heavily curtained against the sunlight. How is it that you have survived alone? What have you done in the searing Sun? How have you avoided Lycanthropes, Hunters, Shapeshifters?
"What is your name? I am called Talia."

Anise remains.Tilting her head back slightly to allow a soft breath to be drawn in through slightly flaring nostrils.Anise catches the scent of the lycan then as the emotion of becoming amused rises she merely chuckles softly. Her words whisered faintly are carrid by the wind for all preternatural creatures to hear" I care not what thee does...I am merely one member to gaze upon the show that proceds before me.The world a stage...my company time to watch the endless show." Her libne of sight is directed towards The kindred who takes flight via the rooftops.Anise fades to apear standing nearby half hidden from veiw in the shadows. Her yellow orbs watching all around her as she remains silent-

Detective at work

Layla showed her badge to the officer at the "Do Not Cross" police barrier, and was ushered under the yellow and black tape and down the alley to the crime scene.

The buzz of the present swarm of flies fills the air.

One of the beat cops turns and sees her, "Hey, if it ain't Stevens. Looks like your boyfriend, Hannibal Lector, has ordered take out again. You might want to get some galoshes for your shoes, wouldn't want to get your heels dirty."

Layla stepped over to where the corpses lay on the ground. The coroner would have to tell her later the exact cause of death, but with all the ripped flesh it was fairly obvious what they died from. Too bad no one reported the bodies sooner, they would have been able to place the time of death from the insects. With the swarm in the alley, it was probably too late for that.

She took a cursory look around the crime scene to make certain everything was marked and photographed for later use.

Layla paused a moment. There was a faint scent under the sickly sweetsmell of rotting flesh. Something that remided her of something her grandmother once said to her, years ago, a scent one would never forget once it was named...

The fact that I was finally meeting and walking with another of my kind was affecting me so much that I barely heard her questions as she launched them at me.

"I was afraid," I said, not sure how much information I should be telling her this soon. "So I mostly fed and then hid. I know that older vampires play with young, weak ones like me," I felt shame at the fact that I was so young and weak. Perhaps with the help of this Talia, I would learn all that my Master had not taught me.

"And I am Aurelia," I told her. "From Spain. And as for the Sun, I spent a bit of time in my hometown before my old friends and family became suspicious of me, and I had a house there. When I left, I stayed wherever it was dark; Crypts, long forgotten undergound tunnels. And finally I am here. What is it about this place that calls to me? You say danger lies here, then why am I so attracted to this city?"

Before she knows it, I have led Aurelia to the fourth-storey porch of my studio apartment. I opens the door, pushing aside heavy curtains.

"If you will have it, you may make this your sanctuary. For now."

It is dark, and sparse. A couch, two lounge chairs, and a television -- for show. A small kitchenette, well-stocked but rarely used. I no longer need to eat, but find the flavors of some foods still exciting. There was a single king-size bed in the midst of the room.

"As for the city. Yes, there is a Pull here. I do not understand it myself. For me, the danger is part of the pull.
"I am from Rome. From when a time Rome meant something. When she stood in rulership over the Known World. I watched Rome die, under corrupt Emperors, and attacked by Barbarian peoples. I learnt to enjoy danger. To find the prospect of Destruction to be a sweet intoxication."

And then I smirk, showing my fangs.

"Yes, little one. Yes, we do tend to ... play with those who are weaker. It is an ancient habit, gained when we are first Made. To survive, we must prey on the weaker, the humans. It carries over. It is ... difficult to avoid."

Very difficult. My porch door is closed, and locked. The curtains are drawn.

I take a step toward her, then stop. No, I must view things in a big picture. No, if I damage her now, she is no use to me later. No. I seek a pawn, not an hour's diversion.

"Difficult, but not impossible. You will learn, in time. If you survive, that is. This, I can help you with. For ... a price."

Anise moves onwards once again.Making a path after the other two kindred as her nature gives into curiousity.Moving through the very depths of the shadows themselves she follows a few steps behind them.Turning her yellow orbs to face the refuge of Talia as he rlips upturn into a odd strange warm smile for one rare time.Lifting her right brow she merely stands silent as her preternatural hearing easily picks up their conversation.Red painted lips finally slop downwards into their normal expression as her thoughts drift to the child.< What is that one going to teach the youngster...I hope that it is to hunt with no remorse. An equal balance..For i cannot stand those that are sheep lovers nor rougish enough that my presence is affected.Time wil tell> Anise slowly fades from sight as her orbs watch then are last to fade alltogther. Anise now begins to make her claim upon the city. When the dawn breaks the corpses are vast. Fledgling kindred from both sides of the balance are simply no more. She had begun to reveal herself to all. Long dormancy has given rise to make herself known finally to all in this new age.-

Hearing the distant howl of a Lycan Anise grisn wide then apears upon the rooftop of a two story store as she watches the scene of the Lycan and kindred fighting. Her form fades the reapears sitting on the roofs edge as she watches but makes no attempt to become involved.Parting her lips she laughs loudly " I wish i had placed a bet.I know that i would win had i been able to place my bet on the Lycan to be the victor. The vampire a youngster by her standards is easily outmatched by the Lycan male.Anise raises her right hand to allow the shadows to flow under the pair. Her powers becoming used for both.Should one not fight fairly they will quickly learn that they have become trapped and completely at the others mercy by being locked into place unable to break free but made to know and watch the end as death comes quickly for them in all its lovely horror.Anise mumurs" Let the sweet sound of pain flow to my ears"-

A price she said. I am not so naive as to believe that this older one will help me without getting something in return. At that moment I made a decision. I would pay her price, but as soon as I had learned what I needed to, about my powers, and about our past, I would escape her. For even as a human I would have recognized the look on her face just now, the look that told me, she desired to play with me, but wouldn't because she needed me...for something, but what for I did not know.

As hard as she was shielding her thoughts from me, I had been somewhat of a socialite as a human. I had become almost expert at reading people's faces, and the undead were no different.

I swore to myself that I would survive. It was not my fault that I had been undead for a whole year and yet knew nothing. How was I to know my Master would leave me. He said he had turned me because he had fallen in love with me and wanted me to be as him, and be with him forever. I was not completely convinced that he had just gone and left me. My mental link to him had simply disappeared not long after he had made me and I did not know if this was because he had shut me from his mind, or because he no longer existed. I preferred to think it was the latter, but I really had no idea.

I sensed that there was someone listening to us, not because of my vampire senses but because of my human ones. The night around us was silent and I looked at Talia to see if she noticed it. But she seemed to be oblivious. I stood at the window and stared out of it, searching for some sign that my human senses were still working, but all I saw were moving shadows. And then out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw something yellow, but when I turned my head, it was gone.

She was apparently ignoring me, giving me time to think. I turned to her and said, "Very well, I will pay your price, if you agree to teach me what my Master has not." I knew it was time to get my unlife together. As a human I had been kind, as a vampire I was as kind as I could be. But I could be cruel. I would show them that. I would learn my powers and not be afraid to use them. I just needed someone to show them to me first.
