I am gonna post in my Firefly RP today, and then I'll post my bios and get the IC thread for this RP going tomorrow. Last night was my last night shift -- I am now a day shift guy, yay! So I will be motivated to write more because I won't be so exhausted all the time. I don't feel much like writing today because I have been up since 10pm last night and am forcing myself to stay up all day today so I can go to sleep tonight so I can go to work tomorrow morning at 9am at my new job.

I don't really feel like updating my Firefly RP today either, but I can just do a quick post for now. With this rp, however, I still need to write bios and get an intro post going, so that will have to wait until tomorrow afternoon when I get home.

Yeah. I'm gonna post in the existing rp thread in a moment and then get to work on the posts. I got home from work and watched last night's Game of Thrones -- such an epic episode! Part of my really wants to do a similar RP based on it in a fantasy setting. I have actually considered a DC medieval story where Superman is the last sun dragon born in human form; Batman is like Robin Hood; J'onn J'onzz is one of the last faeries; Wonder Woman is still Queen of the Amazons, but Themyscira is a kingdom where females are dominant over males; Aquaman is King of Atlantis, which is a large island kingdom off the coast of the mainland; the Flash is some sort of speed faerie or good demon; Green Lantern is a sort of Paladin that wields magic; Joker and Harley Quinn are evil jesters that like to travel to random places and then at the end of their act, they kill their audience; Dick Grayson's parents die at one of Joker's shows; Raven is a dark sorceress who is trying to fight the influence of her father, one of the last shadow dragons; etc., lol.

Given my experience I think we should consider something (and I might run it) with women slaves and wizards warring over the world. Similar to your old wizard idea that I keep trying to get you to re-run we could have elements.

I think that's the one. The one where I was a techno mage is the right one. Don't ask me why but women seem to flock to the "women are slaves" scenarios. So you want girls do what they want. That one didn't lack girls because women were familiars and the like.

It's stupid but tha't show reality seems to function.

Yes, awesome sword axe . Though you should have like a telekinetic barrier on the sharp edge so that your guy isn't killing every last villain .

And I tried the whole slave thing with my Red Blades RP, but no one bit, lol. I also tried an RP a while back about slave catgirls. I remember years ago I did an RP about an incestuous family and girls were lining up to play the mother and the sisters, lol.

And I'll try not to kill anybody. Wolverine manages to make wrist launched razor blades into non-lethal weapons all day long!

But claws are different than a giant sword axe, lol. You start swinging that, somebody's losing a head or an arm or something, lol. Wolverine can stab someone in a non-lethal way or just slice their weapons or whatever, but unless every villain has a thick shield, most of those sword-axe swings will be lethal attacks, lol.

LOL They are all secondary characters I already mentioned in earlier posts. NPCs, essentially. Some of them will turn into villains. Peter Parker is my only main character for now, though I may bring in others later. If someone plays Scarlet Witch at some point, I may play Quicksilver so we can have the pair. I may also bring in the mainstream Avengers as mentors/NPCs or use them as other mains, but I don't want to have a huge bolstered list of characters, lol.

I keep trying to think of the best way to bring in Loki as an enemy at some point, but I hate the idea of the Asgardians speaking modern English on their home world as a native tongue. I would think they'd have their own language or at least speak Old Norse or something. At first, I was thinking of the meteor idea, but since Thor and Loki are not the original names written in the Old Norse scripts, it might be problematic. So, I've come to the best solution: Thor and Loki are not their real names, but nicknames they chose based on the Norse mythological figures.

In 1929, archeologist Donald Blake discovered a vault hidden among a network of Egyptians tombs. It hadn't been accessed in many years, but within he discovered a collection of mystical artifacts, including the Tesseract and Mjolnir. Blake picked up the hammer and instantly felt a surge of power. He was suddenly able to call forth lightning by thought alone using the hammer, and this reminded him of Thor from the old Norse legends.

In reality, the hammer is an alien weapon that was left on Earth by mistake centuries ago when the Skrulls and the Kree fought over the planet -- the Kree purged the Skrulls from the world to let the humans live in peace and cleansed the world of the Skrull taint, but a few artifacts were overlooked.

Donald Blake's younger brother, Thomas, gets his hands on a scepter from the vault and jokingly states, "Well if you're Thor, I guess that makes me Loki." We can say Dr. Abraham Erskine developed the Super Soldier formula based on the substances found in the vault.

So, the vault was uncovered in 1929, and fifteen years later Captain America and Red Skull had their final battle. A lot happened in those fifteen years, such as Loki turning on his brother and helping to form HYDRA, using technology from the vault to help turn Johann Schmidt into Red Skull, and infiltrating the lab that gave Rogers his powers.

It all came to a head in 1944 aboard a plane over the Arctic Ocean: Captain America and Thor versus Red Skull and Loki. Ultimately, the Tesseract was accidentally activated and opened a wormhole which Red Skull and Loki got sucked into. Thor jumped in after his brother, and then the portal closed just as the plane crashed into the water, sinking and freezing, trapping Rogers and the Tesseract until they are uncovered 70+ years later.

Ultimately, we can lead up to the return of Loki and his Chitauri allies -- he has made many contacts in the decades he has been in space. We can eventually do our version of the Battle of New York, and if the RP lasts long enough, the ultimate battle could be against Thanos and his armies. We can also bring in En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse at some point and say the vault is his. Maybe he lived back in the days when the Skrulls were on Earth and he was experimented on, making him ageless or something.

Honestly I think the best and quickest solution is to just have Richard Reeds, Tony Stark, Hank Pym or any of the other super geniuses running around create a universal translator. Asguardians speaking English makes no more or less sense than Kree, Skrull, Shiar or various extra dimensional beings all speaking perfect English. Nor that you rarely run into people around the world who don't speak at least passable English. I know English is widely taught but seriously everybody in Japan, Wakanda, Latveria, Mars, Krypton, Tameria, Thanagar. They all speak English. Because unless the point of the story is communication errors and how hilarious it is that the Asguardian word for steak is Phuk you just skip that step for ease of story telling.

Yeah, I considered the UT idea, but it just seems weird because certain English words are based on Latin and Greek. Like, if someone says Metropolis, it the UT would make him say Big City instead, because Metropolis is Greek for "big city."

I know you're going to tell me I think too much about it just like my brother-in-law, lol. But I also can't help but have issues with a space-faring civilization still wearing metal armor and wielding melee weapons, lol.

You do think too much and think in a lot of cases you come across as very intimidating in that regard. Jumping into an RP with you a lot of times feels something like trying to jump in to Lost season 5. The writers expect you to understand the significance of a lot of things they don't explain or in your case you dump so much stuff on people that have no relevance to them if they aren't familiar already.

I know a lot of English is based on Latin, Greek and other Germanic languages. That should honestly make the UT work better not worse. We currently live in a world where real time translations done by computers are possible. They are kinda clunky but we've got Siri not Jarvis. (Well we have Cortana but I don't think ours is quite as advanced as Master Chief's model.) And that right there solves almost everything. The only downside is logically it should translate lots of odd things awkwardly but we can just handwave that.

I actually don't mind that advanced societies use Melee weapons in comics. It's proven time and time again that any "real" hero is just a hair shy of immune to projectile weaponry. It's actually partially explained in Star Wars where apparently deflector shields were designed specifically to deflect lasers and suck vs actual projectiles which is why so many ships carry honest to god missiles. They pass right through the deflectors without issue.
