Maryland is for lovers?

A large tree in the lot adjacent to my property came down taking out power lines...and a section of my fence. I count my blessings.

I had neighbors lose about half their roof, another chimney separated, fences and trees down everywhere. I did ok overall, lost the patio table glass top but that is mostly it.

I have a modest hour or so of "pick-up sticks" and I count myself extremely lucky. If you never want to lose power again, invest in a whole-house back-up generator. Since getting mine, we've never lost power.

Working on a food forest this year, gonna be a 5 to 7 year project, but at the end I'll potentially have literal tons of produce a year

Berries, vines like Kiwi, native fruit trees (including PawPaw and mulberry), and black walnut plus another nut tree I havent decided on. Around the edges will be herbs and nitrogen fixing plants. Also going to have a small chicken coop and create compost from hay and chicken droppings to add nitrogen back into the soil as well

Still varying widely in predication, the national weather service has us in for ~2-3" now with sleet. Accuweather and Yahoo have it for 5 or so inches
