Roman, I am right there with you - what BIZARRE weather... I was driving home today through Virginia, and it was like the loony-toons where the characters are running and the landscape flies by, changing from desert to mountain to whatever! I went through blizzardy bad visibility, to bright sun and green grass, and back and forth and back - weird...

How is everyone - hugs and well-wishes.

Virginia? Why the heck would you be driving through Virginia?!?;)

Next stop on the meteorological twilight zone...anyone care to venture a guess? I just hope that I'm able to see a few cherry blossoms this season...at least it's fine weather for enjoying a nice hot bottle of sake!

I was coming back to my house from looking at the model for a set I'm gonna paint out at George Mason U, of course! ;)

Cherry blossoms are good.

Cool

Hey Watergirl :) , I share your sentiments on the weather, its just been too crazy to even try to explain. I suspect its the government... Lol, isn't that what we are suppose to believe, after all we see movies like The Core where government projects go very bad, isn't this some strange government experiment on how to create snow storms in ridiculous proportions and at ludicrous times of year? I think it just might be, the truth is out there... Or it could just be a 'mysterious' weather phenomenon that meteorologists want to convince us of call 'La Nina'. Notice how they try to disguise things by using foreign languages in order to befuddle us and make us stand in awe of their intelligence and creativity. Next time I invent a weather pattern I'm buying a Swahili dictionary; bet I can find something cool in there.

But anyway, so Watergirl are you a professional artist? What's your subject going to be?

Peace everyone

I just paint scenery. This one is a kids show, a musical called Perseus Bayou, the Search for Cajun Medusa.

Just don't ask, oK? :p I like it, it pays the bills, after a fashion... I don't come up with the designs.

Swahili would be good.

Dude, don't be so Anglo-centric...El Nino and La Nina are oceanographic phenomena off the coast of California, where the official language is Spanish...

awwww - I'm sorry to hear that, Amber! Here's wishing your speedy recovery! :rose: x12

Tis just a joke my good man. Didn't you notice my sarcastic reference to the X-Files "The truth is out there"? I know its the uncharacteristic warming of a greater portion of the Pacific Ocean (El Nino) and the cooling (La Nina) of the Pacific Ocean. And just like my icon, I am of Spanish decent and speak Spanish so I'm definitely not Anglo or Anglo-centric.

Woohoo! I have GOT to get out of my office today and walk around a bit!

Hey, with the arrival of spring, maybe our chances of organizing a Maryland Lit-together will also improve?

Roman

It 's goddamn gorgeous out!

I think a MD lit-together is a great idea. I'll come meet you all!

A Modest Proposal for a Lit-Together

OK, we've kicked the idea around for a while--so why don't we start the ball rolling. I propose that we start a separate thread (probably in the Personals section) to coordinate a Lit-together. One issue up-front to figure out is where in general to meet. Judging by where people on this thread are located, my impression is that someplace in or around Baltimore is the best bet. In a previous set of posts, there was talk about meeting around Inner Harbor (advantages--easy to find & lots of parking; disads--traffic, parking can be expensive).

Before we launch this planning thing, it would be nice to hear from posters on a few issues:

1. do you prefer a weekday (probably evening) or weekend event?

2. do you have any suggestions for a locale OTHER than the Inner Harbor that (a) is convenient for a large, geographically-distributed group and (b) has some good set of restaurants where a fairly large group can meet and talk?

Based on what I've seen of other Lit-togethers, the best bet is to plan well in advance, so I'm assuming that we would schedule this for the end of April or early May.

Look forward to hearing from y'all.

there are Spanish people living off the coast of California??!! Or once you arrive in international waters, off the coast of California, everyone must speak Spanish? That's news to me.

I believe that California claims a 50-mile zone off its coastline as its territorial waters, but I could be mistaken. And having talked to some of the marine life there, I submit to you that the official language there is definitely Spanish. They also make you speak it without benefit of SCUBA gear or other breathing apparatus.

SMARTASS!;)

Cool Roman  , communicating via written word can be so annoying because sometimes its hard to get the feeling and intention behind what you are trying to say across to the other people. Its a pain and its caused misunderstandings and gotten me in trouble in the past. But its all good Roman

1. my preference would be for saturday night - but i'm flexible with it

2. my preference is the baltimore area - not necessarily the inner harbor but the baltimore area

late april or early may would probably be good - i wouldn't plan it too far in advance - i have seen some get togethers not happen because by the time the date rolled around, members of the group and had gone different ways

thanks for getting the ball rolling roman ~

Hi Friends and Marylanders.....

Hope everyone here is enjoying this beautiful weather today.... Wooooooowwwwww what a beautiful day.

As far as the Lit get together,,,, I am all for it.

1. do you prefer a weekday (probably evening) or weekend event? I would think that more folks would come to this event if it was on the weekend, or at least I would hope so.

2. do you have any suggestions for a locale OTHER than the Inner Harbor that (a) is convenient for a large, geographically-distributed group and (b) has some good set of restaurants where a fairly large group can meet and talk? I am not sure where everyone has to come from but Baltimore is fine with me... as I would have to travel where ever the event would be. I would plan on being there early also, just to make sure I made it, with directions of course.

Based on what I've seen of other Lit-togethers, the best bet is to plan well in advance, so I'm assuming that we would schedule this for the end of April or early May. Late April or early May would be great,,,, I agree with Princess4u,,, dont make it too long a time from now.

I would like to invite everyone that reads this post to our get together also..... If you live in the area and would like to join us, your welcome to come and meet all of us.

I have always made this thread an open thread, and want everyone to know that your always Welcome here.

Smiles at my Friends.

chuckles..... Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Silkynsmooth....

turns and looks over my shoulders at you.....

You can catch a ride with me if you like..... just give the word and I would be there.... smiles....

Good to see you....

Just so my personal preferences are on the record, I'd be able to attend something on a weeknight, or even possibly a Friday night, but probably not on a weekend. Also, it still seems like May is a bit better, just to give folks time to plan.

As with any such venture, I'm assuming that we'll never be able to accommodate everyone's schedules, and people may drop in or out...we can always have a second Lit-together to catch anyone who misses the first!

Roman
