Masculinity is a dying breed

If someone sees more of something, does that mean something else is dying?

Nope.

I have seen much less of the 1960s ......but Lord knows there's plenty left that isn't going away

There are lots of good men out there--just quietly being strong and decent and kind. Working hard and taking care of their families.

If the OP is convinced that good men a dying breed, maybe it's because they're increasingly rare in conservative circles where being a selfish, belligerent asshole is seen as masculine.
Since I never got a straight answer from Shellyanntagonist, or whatever she calls herself these days, and knowing her posting history, I suspect that her idea of masculinity is a strong, authoritarian, tough macho jackass type who isn't afraid to smack her around. As opposed to decent, strong, and kind types. This is, after all, the type of man she endorses politically.

I am, however, honestly trying to give her the benefit of the doubt here. So I'll be serious for a minute.

I know that men these days do get mixed messages. Some of us- myself included, were raised to be kind, strong, and decent, chivalrous and respectful. Then, we see women falling for the crass, crude, macho, beer-guzzling tough guys driving jacked up pickup trucks, while they complain to the decent/chivalrous/respectful types about what a jerk their husband/boyfriend is.

While the decent/chivalrous/etc types wonder, what the heck did we do wrong, where the Saint ShelAnntagonists of the world choose the crass bully redneck ass hat types over us?

It's that mixed message. You think you are doing the right thing but it's really the wrong thing. And you do the wrong thing and everyone thinks your an ass hat (including the woman in your life) but yet... you still get rewarded for your asshattery.

I'm flattered. Really. :)

You wouldn't believe half the things I saw growing up. That one is etched in my brain forever. :)
How is that anyone else's issue or even related to the OP?

As I said.....making up shit is fun ....Guess especially when you make it part of your narrative

Again...I'm trying to get an honest, reasonable dialog going here.

It's not working.

I once watched my dad break a 2x4 over a 600 lb sow's nose while smoking a hand rolled. Maybe my concept of masculinity is skewed. :)

That is no way for Saint_Ann’s dad to treat Saint_Ann’s mom, and no way for Saint_Ann to talk about Saint_Ann’s mom.

😑

I told you you wouldn't believe it. Now run and get back to your knitting. :)

I don't care about your drama.

But please spend a thread discussing it. Therapy obviously isn't your thing.
