Medical Question

BUT he let you goo home with a possible brain bleed.

And he explained the situation. Look, normally, people with a brain bleed, have certain symptoms. I don't have those.

Oh and that shit he gave you...

You might want to call in to work. If that is visteril and toradol you will be out for a while.

I had a shot once on a Friday, woke up a couple times to pee and then woke up again Sunday Morning once

It wasn't. I forget the name. He wrote it down, so I can ask my doctor for it, in wafer or inhaler form. It's a migraine medication.

Then why on earth would he be worried and obviously worried about it?

just wishing you well, since things are beyond any advice I might have had already.

I don't know. *shrug* I'm not going to think about it, and hope for the best.

In any case, I'm going to bed. My head hurts, and I work tomorrow.

Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you, and hope you're feeling much better today! :rose:

(If you're not, go see another doctor. Second opinions are a good thing.)

How ironic I caught this post today. I want to encourage you to follow up and have the MRI as soon as possible. I am a 33 yr old female with absolutely no risk factors for stroke. I do however have a history of migraines. In the last three years I have had intermittent experiences of vertigo along with right blurred vision. Neither impacted my life and with two small kids I went along on my daily stressful routines. At the end of the year I knew my insurance was going to change so I referred myself for an MRI (I'm in the medical field). To my surprise I have had multiple embolic induced ischemic foci (ie TIA/stroke) which have occured at different times. I am not currently having any symptoms but I just had a carotid/vertebral artery scan today and I'm scheduled for a TEE which is an invasive heart exam to rule out a PFO which is a hole in the heart that should have closed at birth but if not may be sending off clots. I will also have 3 more MRI's this year to make sure no new lesions are present. I share my medical information just so you know that your experience may be very well in need of further medical care. Best of luck to you.

I called today, to set up an MRI. I won't hear from my doc until Monday, but I'm hoping for something next week.

I'm glad you're following this up. My mother-in-law just had a procedure to repair that small hole in the heart you mentioned. It caused a stroke in September. She never went to the ER--she called her doctor instead complaining of a terrible headache and he prescribed taking some advil and resting. The next morning she woke up with a serious vision impairment.

I'm sorry, Ms. Lilith, I know this is probably frightening to hear. You're doing the right thing by pursuing this aggressively. Best of luck to you. :rose:

Imitrex?

There is also an injectible you can give yourself, if you have the nerve. I have done it a few times with my very worst migraines.

I was diagnosed with migraines when I was eight. I frequently have the visual disturbances you describle. I have lost vision in one eye before, but it didn't scare me because I remembered somebody asking me if it had ever happened to me before after it happened to her. I am always extremely nauseous (sp?) and sensitive to light and motion. Oddly, sound has never bothered me.

There are other triptians on the market now, Imitrex was just the first. I have the best luck with Relpax. There is also Maxault (sp?), Frova, Emerge (?) and one more that I have taken. Maxault can be gotten in a meltaway tablet which works pretty fast compared to a swallow-pill. Relpax is supposed to work in 30 minutes sometimes!

I always take phennagren for the nausea. As an added bonus, it makes me sleepy :)

Other things that help me are peppermint. Peppermint tea, scented candles, perfume, anything. I have never decided if it really helps or not but it sure don't hurt so I figure what have I got to loose? Lavendar helps too--I will take baths with lavendar vanilla shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Then I go to bed after spraying my sheets with linen spray, all from Bath & Body Works. Again, I don't know if this works but it soothes me at least.

I have a CAT scan scheduled for the morning. I had a fainting spell today, and have been seeing double, so they're not taking chances.

Wow hun, scary. Please let us know how you're doing. In the mean time, I'll say a prayer for ya. :rose:

blurry vision

I work in the medical field. The doctor that sent you home was a fucking idiot. The most definative exam is to have a MRI with and without contrast. You really need to see a neurologist. Do not waste your time with your personal doctor. Most people forget they are paying for a service, so request the best service possible. Doctors are people not God. A second opinion is REQUIRED!!!

Did they find any cerebral or pulmonary AVM's? My mother was 19 and had a stroke which we didn't find out until almost 40 years later was caused by AVM's that are hereditary. A pulmonary AVM caused a BRAIN ABSCESS in her right occipital in 2003 which partially blinded her (her doc thought the month-long headaches were due to a sinus infection!!!) and she is now mentally disabled due to the surgery and infection.

I'm feeling much better, but I still have the headache. I should hear my results on monday, and I'm looking forward to knowing them, good or bad.

*sigh* Results not in yet. Hoping for Wednesday now.

Still have that headache.

I'm sorry to hear that, and hope the news is good.

Please keep us posted?

Not a How-To, but you people are more ... helpful... than other boards I frequent.

Last night, I had the worst migraine of my life. It came on so fast, I couldn't medicate it (normally I can catch it before it gets bad), and it landed me in a dark room with a heat pack on my neck, cool compress on my forehead, earplugs in, a blanket over my face, and bawling my eyes out.

Today, I went to work, the headache had gone... but... when I put my glasses on to begin work, I noticed that my vision was MUCH poorer than yesterday. I could still read and whatnot, but even with the glasses, my eyes were blurry.

Is this something I should be worried about?

My brother suffers from Migrains, they can be so awful. He takes 2 Excedren and drinks a regular Coke. It has to be Coke and has to be Excedren. Lays quiet in a perferably dark room for a half an hour. It really helps, espcially if he doesn't have a perscription with him. Good luck. Everyone gave you good advice. Migrains can sometimes be a sympton of other serious problems that you want to have checked out. :rose:

i'd get myself to the doc immediately. your symptoms could be caused by many different problems. good luck.

Results:

A complete, massive sinus infection. I've been put on $150 worth of antibiotics for the next three weeks. They think it's been developing for months, due to the completeness of the infection.

My antibiotics are guaranteed to make me horribly sick, but, they'll cure what ails me, we hope.

Thank you all, for all of your thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry you've had such troubles Ms.L but am glad you'll feel better soon.

Start taking acidophilus right away... or eating lots of yogurt to help keep the yeast infection away. Good luck sweetie. :rose:
