Millie's terrible day thread. You can post any and of your disappoints for the day, week, month, year, or your life.

Well, suffering succotash, I say suffering succotash, folks, I'm out of Darjeeling tea! I say I'm out of my favorite tea. If that doesn't make you mad, nothing will. So, Tea, Earl Grey hot. Just doesn't do the trick like my Darjeeling does. Pack up my baby, lock up my cat. By golly, by Gumby, I'm heading for the tea shop right now.
Your repeating yourself. LOL Exact same post in two different threads.

Just so she doesn't get confuse between the cat and the baby.

Sadly not great news, I hope that the situation improves quickly for your mum.
So, Millie's family is the most stubborn group of people I've ever met. At the bottom of the list is Millie; above her is her brother; above him, her Sis; above Millie's sister is her Mum; and at the top of the pile is her Dad. When her Dad tells her Mum you're going to the ER, is when she'll go to the ER.

I have been accused of being stubborn myself so I can only say that it is a good quality to have.

Happy holidays! They are expecting (another) storm around New Year, a time when excessive wetness isn't usually appreciated. ;)

Dad hasn't forced the issues yet as she continues to improve, if only marginally. I know she doesn't want to go back into the hospital again.

So Tuesday, Mum went to the doctor, who tried to send her to the hospital in their town. But the hospital there was full. So she went back to a Norman Hospital. She got out last night, and I brought her home. Meanwhile, my dad also caught the flu and was in bed for three days. I took care of him, went and visited Mother, and stayed with him at their house. Jo took off work to care for Donnie and took him to work with her to check on things. So, after a rough week, I'm heading home to my family and want to crawl in bed and sleep. But I'm sure I'll be on here after I get home.

Now I have the sniffles and am worried I'm getting it as well.

Millie, just take precautions so you don’t pass anything to Donnie. There’s a lot of respiratory shit going around now - RSV, COVID and the plain ol’ flu, which isn’t so plain any more.

Take care of yourself. And yours.

Have another cup of tea: 🍵

Headed out to work this morning in my company vehicle only to discover a few miles down the road that the heater had stopped working.

My company of course, in their infinite wisdom, has no contingency plan on what to do when a company truck needs to go into the shop to keep the employee on the road and working while the vehicle is being fixed.

I did somehow manage to get it working again. Don't ask me how because I honestly don't know. Other than wiggling a fuse I did nothing.

Anyway. We're going to try to get something figured our for next week to get it fixed.

Oh. And I sat in gum.

We change shifts every four months. I shifted to the night shift at the beginning of the week. I don't really mind too much once my body is used to it, but feeling like hammered :poop: for two weeks sucks. I do get more writing done on my nights off, which is a plus.

submitted a story on Dec 9, only for it to be rejected due to AI on Dec 22. Submitted it again on Dec 27 after editing it to seem less AI (whatever that even means. I just took some of the suggestions of people on the AI rejection threads) and it's still pending today. Meanwhile I see other authors having a new story published every 2-3 days lol. It's so frustrating. And if it gets rejected again, it is probably not going to even say why. Then i'll have to edit somehow and resubmit, then wait another 2 weeks again. Not blaming the mods because I know they are severely overworked having to go through all the stories, but it's a very frustrating situation to be in

Rumour has it that it can take up to two weeks.

I feel hammered almost every week and I’ve been on night shift over twenty years. Lousy rest of the world not sharing my schedule! At least I get paid extra shift differential for being on nights, there are fewer people around to yell at me, and it hasn’t been beyond my ability to adapt each week yet. :sigh: I am getting older, though, and the latter may not last forever. Hopefully my retirement nest eggs will fill in when my body can no longer sustain me on my preferred shift!

like ok that is fine, but it's the not knowing if it will be rejected again, then having to find some way to figure out why the work was deemed as AI and trying to edit it, only to have to wait quite a long time again. Just frustrating is all. No hate to the mods though, I know they're doing their best. I appreciate the work they do.

This is in part why I haven't published on lit, I have little time to write and I have no patience left for the rest of the process.
Good luck with your story, I will check it out when it is available!

Not in a particularly good frame of mind this morning. My neck and shoulder hurt like hell after spending a week with my laptop writing stories from the sofa rather than at the office desk on the desktop. The pain and its extent is familiar. My fear is this is a repeat of a ruptured cervical disc from 11 years ago. Oh, joy.

:(

I was going great guns on a story for the Sports event, writing about a women's sport I had direct experience with several years ago. Last night I went to refresh my knowledge on a couple of things and discovered that nearly every game detail I wrote into the story is now wrong, the rules have changed that much. It's not a total rewrite, but it's messing with a bunch of dialog.

And it's cloudy and barely above freezing, just dreary in general. Whether we're going to get snow or just a cold rain this evening is a toss-up.
