"Deport all the illegals-" but what happens when one who has been here legally all this time, suddenly becomes "illegal?" I have a green card holding friend who has lived here since the 1960s. She has an American husband and American grandchildren.

Her green card expires next year and she's afraid of being detained and deported when she goes in to renew it because of a few arrests she got during the Civil Rights Movement. Arrests that are older than I am.

She's an elderly white woman from Finland.

No doubt you'll try to justify it on the basis of the criminal records. That might have been fair, if they had been deported in the immediate aftermath of their crimes. They weren't. We're talking about things decades in the past.

Also, the War on Drugs is bullshit, so there's that.

And you can find examples of LPRs being detained on the basis of decades old arrests that never resulted in convictions.
