It's remarkable how there's more nuance here for the taking than "Democrats like illegal immigration." Would you rather get into an accident with an illegal alien that had insurance or one without?

The original rationale for so-called sanctuary cities wasn't to protect illegals. It was to encourage victims of crime to come forward. Crazy thought, it's probably better for everyone if we put rapists behind bars, even if their victims are illegal immigrants, but the victims can't come forward if they know they'll get deported for reporting the crime...

The people you should mad at are in Washington, not State Capitols, and they're in both parties. Republican business owners like cheap labor. It wasn't Democrats who stopped George W. Bush's attempt at immigration reform....
