Moonlit Tales

Olivia hesitated for a second, wishing she’d brought a coat, before joining Jason out in the rain.

As they quickly walked towards his house she thought about his earlier question. Normally if her partner or one of her squad members asked she would avoid answering that kind of question completely because she’d experienced how no matter what her answer was it always seemed to get twisted around so they could give her shit. She didn’t think Jason would do that, whether it was because he was just not that kind of guy or because he himself had been the subject of multiple rumors as of late, she wasn’t sure.

Olivia went back to concentrating on where they were going. She was glad she could just follow Jason. The rain clouds had covered the moon making it almost impossible to tell where you were going. She had no doubts she would have gotten hopelessly lost if she’d been on her own. Trying to keep her eyes on Jason was no easy task but it made the mile long walk to his house go by more quickly and she picked up her pace as she saw the house just up ahead.

Once they got inside Jason told her where the bathroom was so she could go clean up and dry off from the rain while he made the coffee. His bathroom was pleasantly clean compared to most twenty-something men’s bathrooms. Once she’d gotten her hair and clothes as dry as they’d get with a towel she headed towards the delicious aroma of the brewing coffee.

Jason was leaning against the kitchen counter when she came in and she couldn’t help but notice how the rain had made his shirt stick to his chest. She didn’t even realize she was staring until he cleared his throat.

“I’m going to go change into some dry clothes. Help yourself when the coffee is done."

Olivia moved out of the doorway so he could go change and sat down at the table. Once the coffee had finished brewing she poured some in each of the mugs sitting next to the coffee pot. She put the second mug on the table across from where she was sitting as Jason came back in and sat down.

“Hopefully the rain will let up soon. It can’t take that long for the road to dry again right?”

Olivia took a sip of her coffee as she watched the rain hit the window behind Jason.

“No I don’t have a boyfriend or husband or anything like that. I’m sure you know what a toll this job can have on relationships, especially the hours. So I’ve told you stuff about myself, I think it’s time you told me about yourself.”

In the shower Jason's mind returned to the past of a few minutes beforehand.

He could smell the emotions coming off her towel dried body as clearly as she could smell the aroma of the coffee...

The fruity tang of Curiousity about the man whose kitchen she now stood in...The bitter smell of lingering Fear over the facts she had gathered and didn't quite yet know what to do with...A plethora of blended scents wafting to his nostrils that spoke of hunger, the cold and minor aches...

And the growing, musky that spoke of her wanting.. need... DESIRE....

With a start Jason realized it was him...She was reacting to his own scent that eminated from his pores...His very own lust that oozed from millions of tiny pores...

“I’m going to go change into some dry clothes. Help yourself when the coffee is done."

He had concentrated at that point and fought back the most primeival of all emotions...setting himself at rest as he felt her relax unconciously as well...her body changing position ever so slightly ...

And then he had left the room...Moving past her so close he could feel his hairs brush hers...the sheer thrill of it nearly convincing him to stop and turn back...

AND THEN HE WAS BACK...

Showered... and in dry clothes...sipping at hot coffee as he considered how to answer Olivia's questions...

"The road will be dry enough to walk out before noon..." He assured with past experience backing his gentle words...

"And I do know the sacrifices one must make for what they believe in...though in making them you often lose yourself"

He sipped at his own cup...using the time to carefully word the response in his mind for Olivia's last inquiry...

"As for myself? I'm just a wolf in sheeps clothing"

Olivia's eyes opened wide. Her face tightened and the skin went white...

And Jason smiled softly.

"But aren't all men...or at least we like to think of ourselves that way?"

He was rewarded with Olivia's nervous laugh and then a smile that lit her eyes and Jason laughed with her...

"I was a spoiled rich boy that joined the force in search of honor and glory...but somewhere along the way I forgot about the glory when I saw the suffering most people live with everyday...and do it without a whimper. Now...? Well now I hope to make a difference in my own way, even if it's down on the wrong side of town in a unit everyone turns their nose up at..."

He was surprised that he had blurted out the confession and turned to his cup to hide the embarresment and then thought better of it...lifting his head to see understanding in Olivia's eyes as she listened quietly.

"I guess you'd say I gave myself to my job...the reason I came here not at all what was rumored...but still I'm here...and want to make the job worth being proud of?"

His guest nodded and Jason laughed to ease the tension he felt, then changed the subject...and the tone to a lighter, teasing one.

"I have a spare bedroom beside mine...when we finish our coffee I can show it to you and where some clothes are that will do for pajamas...that is if you don't sleep in the buff?"

Olivia

Olivia had been surprised by Jason's candid and honest response about himself and how he'd come to the force. Olivia’s opinion of Jason seemed to keep getting better and better. She'd noticed though that he seemed somewhat uncomfortable afterwards, of course she wasn't sure if it was because of his forthright comments or because she was stuck staying at his house until morning at least. She had felt the need to lighten the mood but had been at a loss of what to say. Luckily Jason had lightened the mood himself.

"I have a spare bedroom beside mine...when we finish our coffee I can show it to you and where some clothes are that will do for pajamas...that is if you don't sleep in the buff?"

Olivia felt the heat rise in her cheeks at his words as she struggled for what to say. She shook off her embarrassment and gave him a teasing laugh.

"Oh wouldn't you like to know Jason? But I think I'll just leave you guessing. I'm afraid you'll have to come up with some other ploy to find out."

She met his eyes with what she hoped was a cool and collected look instead of flustered one that would match her true feelings. Jason gave her a smile but she could see some underlying emotion as well but she was hard pressed to guess at what that emotion was.

Olivia finished the last of her coffee and moved to the sink to rinse her cup out. She set it on the dish rack and turned only to come face to face with Jason, who was rinsing his own cup out. She put her hand on his arm as she moved past him.

"Sorry Jason, let me get out of your way."

His arm seemed to stiffen under her hand and she let it fall away. She'd put her hand on him just to satisfy her urge to touch him and she wondered if maybe he'd somehow known that. He set his mug next to hers and led her to the guest room. He showed her the extra clothes and told her goodnight before heading to his own room. She didn't hesitate in pulling her damp clothes off and replacing them with one of the large t-shirts Jason had shown her. She switched off the lights before getting into the warm bed, grateful to be out of her cold clothes.

Sleep came quickly but it was light and the sound of the heater clicking on woke her up. A glance at the clock told her she'd only been asleep for about an hour.

Since she was already awake she got up to get something to drink. She didn't want to wake Jason up by turning on the lights and she found her way to the kitchen in the dark with minimal stumbling and noise. The window in the kitchen made it easier to see than in the hall and she was glad since she hadn't wanted to try and find a glass in the dark. She opened the fridge and poured herself some of orange juice before turning to head back to her room.

The light in the kitchen had been nice but once she was back in the hall she found it twice as hard to see as it had been when she'd first come out. She felt her way along the wall, glad she'd thought of it instead of trying to see in the dark hallway until her hand hit one of the framed pictures Jason had on his wall. She quickly shut her fingers on it, catching it before it feel too far. She carefully set it on the floor against the wall and kept her hand at her side as she continued down the hall.

She finally made out the outline of the door and she hurried inside, not realizing she was in the wrong room until she ran into a solid object that shouldn't have been there.

Jason

Jason slept…His subconscious filled with flitting images of the forest moving rapidly past his eyes, the smell of pine and damp grass coming to his flaring nostrils as he ran through the moonlit woods…

And then he was awake. Like the primeval animal that coexisted within him there was no sleepy transition, instead he rose quietly and moved to the open doorway, ears and nostrils searching for clues of what woke him…

And quickly finding it in the scent of his partner…his hearing telling him Olivia moving towards him…her steps uncertain in the dim light of the hall…confused…and as she stepped into his room he knew it was by accident and not intention…

And yet?

He stood silent…unmoving…and let Olivia walk straight into him, the breath of air coming from her lips showing her dismay and surprise…her warm hands moving out in front of her to explore where she was. And finding him…

“J…j…Jason?”

In the dark he smiled, his nostrils flaring at the all woman scent that came to them, his nude body hardening and reacting to it before he could suppress it…

“What if I said it’s the “BIG”….”BAD”…. wolf?”

Olivia’s hands continued to explore his bare chest and then lowered…Her gasp and the sensation of gentle hands on his swollen cock telling Jason of her discovery…and her awareness of what it was…

“Then I’d have to ask you…if the stories in the fairy tales are true?” Came the thrilling words…

and it was Jason’s turn to be confused at Olivia’s gentle teasing…his mind trying to sort out the meaning of the words as she continued to gently stroke his throbbing shaft…

His words were low…. husky…. filled with raw lust as he fought the urge to grab her arms and throw her to the bed beside them…her own scent telling him of her growing arousal…and fear…

“And just what story is that?”

Olivia continued to gently stroke the length of his cock as she answered his question.

"Well the story of Little Red Riding Hood. You know, they say the big, bad wolf lurks in a charming and handsome guise but that "sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth."

Her embarrassment at running right into Jason had quickly dissipated and been replaced by desire as her hand had moved over his naked body. She'd been pleasantly surprised to find him already hard when she'd moved her hand lower.

She still held the glass she'd brought from the kitchen and she placed it on the nearest surface she could find, leaving both her hands free to touch him. Holding the cold glass had made her hand cold and she ran her hand over his chest, her long fingers brushing over his nipple. She felt it harden under her touch as she leaned forward and flicked her tongue over it. She enjoyed the feel of his smooth skin under her tongue and she let it slide higher over his chest and up to his neck.

Part of her started to hesitate, her thoughts reminding her of how many times she'd seen this happen with partners and how badly things had ended up. She ignored the doubts that were making her second guess herself; instead she let her body’s response lead her.

As if to prove that she was dedicated to her decision she moved back from Jason, letting her mouth and hands leave him. She reached down and pulled the large t-shirt off in one fluid movement and let it drop to the floor.

Her vision had adjusted to the darkness as much as they were able and she could see Jason more clearly. Her eyes took in his toned and muscular body as she moved closer to him and she felt her body react. As she looked him over she smiled at the thought of him being the big, bad wolf and what a surprise Little Red Riding Hood would have been in for.

She glanced down as she wrapped her hand back around his thick shaft.

"My what big…" she said before looking up with a slow smile, "Teeth you have."

" All the better to eat you with my dear"

Jason grinned in the near dark and slid his hands over and around Olivia's waist to cup her firm ass cheeks.

He could smell the arousal coming from her sex, knew she wanted him to take her...and yet from her now nude body came a scent tinged with wariness...and fear.

It was just as well... Not in the fact Jason wanted her to be afraid of him...but the knowledge he needed to move slowly with Olivia and show her she could trust him...

And for another reason as well...Jason had no doubt of his control over the beast inside him, his position in the pack was a mute testament, but even the most controlled of beasts would arise if the keeper left the gate open...or his guard completely down...

Jason pulled Olivia gently to him, feeling her soft curves meld to his harder ones...her hips shifting so his swollen hardness nestled against her own sex...and kissed her full lips...

And for an eternity they stayed that way...an electric current passing between them as thier lips parted and tongues crept out to playfully duel...and Olivia's arms wrapped themselves around his neck.

"That was nice...more than nice...is there...more?"

Olivia whispered as the kiss ended and Jason smiled at her, trying hard not to drown in the bright pools of her eyes...

"Much more if you're sure you want it Olivia"

It was a gentle yet double edged question...one that Jason waited quietly for his partner to answer...did she want THIS??? did she want HIM???

"Yes...I do Olivia answered softly and stroked his face with her hand. Please???

Jason needed no more...He bent forward and quickly wrapped his arms around her waist and legs...lifting her and spinning towards the bed...to lower her gently to it's surface before kneeling between her open knees...

"It's not my teeth I'm going to use right away hun..."

And then he was upon her...or more accurately his tongue was...as he slid his hands under her tight buttocks and pressed his lips to her fragrant sex...and began to search with his tongue for her that tiny nub...

He was intent on taking it slow...slow enough to drive Olivia over the brink several times...to allow her to fully enjoy herself...and to want him inside her when the time was right to find his own pleasant peak...

And Olivia seemed to sense his deliberate pace and encourage him...her legs opening wider as her fingers curled in his hair and gently pressed him deeper into her...

For a second Olivia had feared that Jason had come to his senses and was going to tell her it was all a mistake. Then she had felt his hands on her bare skin as he reached around to squeeze her ass. She knew there would be no going back then and she let out the deep breath she had been holding.

His lips had pressed against hers in a passionate kiss that was the kiss to end all kisses as far as she was concerned. Everything after that seemed to go by in a blur and Jason was soon laying her body down on the bed. She knew she needed to let herself relax so she could fully enjoy this. She would never forgiver herself if she was too busy worrying and second-guessing herself to experience this with the full attention of all her senses.

Jason was between her legs and she felt his tongue upon her as his hands slid under her body to grip her ass. He was taking his time, all of his movements and touches slow and deliberate as she let her hand move to his head, encouraging him. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the feel of his soft blonde hair in her fingers and his warm breath, as his tongue lightly tasted her. He soon found her clit and his tongue flicked over it. She let out a low moan as he took it into his and gently sucked sending pleasant tingles through her. As his tongue and mouth continued to tease and explore her she let her other hand move to caress and play with her breasts.

Though Jason would let his pace quicken it would only be a slight change and only long enough to tease her before letting himself take his time again. Olivia seemed to lose track of everything except the pleasure Jason was causing her. Her fingers continued to wrap themselves in his hair as she felt her orgasm began to build up deep inside of her. She let out a cry as the orgasm exploded within her and she writhed underneath him as it moved through her whole body.

It was more difficult than Jason had imagined...

As Olivia's passion rose her body released a multitude of scents...

Scents that came to his nostrils despite where he had them buried...

Scents that carried powerful pheromones that told of the growing arousal within her body as well as demanding reaction from his own...

Reaching so deep within him it woke something he had kept sleeping for so very long...

His beast...

Olivia's body shuddered and then twisted...her cries coming deep from within her own body as the pleasure of release flowed through it...

And Jason's body grew hard in response...muscles twitching and swelling under his skin as if alive and of a different mind...his eyes suddenly burning brightly with hunger and something much more.... primal...

And as Olivia's body quivered a final time Jason began a battle with the beast within...desperation bringing him to offer the woman before them...but only for pleasure...not to feed off of...

So great was the beasts hunger...so weak was he that the offer was accepted and as Jason lifted his body to cover Olivia's he prayed quietly that Olivia wouldn't suffer for the agreement made without her knowledge or consent...

Still it was Jason's muscled body that pressed his cock against her wet sex...and it was his lips that kissed Olivia's as she opened herself to him and he slid into the velvet sheath...

And as Olivia's hips rose to meet his own he broke the kiss and pressing his lips to her shoulder and averting his eyes, hiding them from Olivia as they found the rhythm they both wanted so desperately...

So the beast’s desires were fulfilled...hovering under and within the confinements of Jason's body...partaking of the pleasures Olivia's heated flesh gave...and returning the favors through his Masters body...

Driving his cock deeper into Olivia's own body...feeling her body rise to meet him and clench at the swollen length as he pulled back from her...

Pushing them all to the edge ...and over?

Olivia fought to catch her breath as her orgasm finally began to subside. Jason seemed to hesitate as if trying to decide what to do next. She didn't think she could handle stopping now and for a brief moment she realized she wouldn't hesitate to beg or plead. The thought shocked her and she wondered what was wrong with her. She couldn't believe she would even possibly consider begging, no matter how badly she wanted Jason or how much pleasure he was giving her.

She was glad to push all the thoughts from her mind as Jason moved above her. Olivia felt the swollen head of his member pressing against her wet slit. He lowered his lips to hers as he slowly slid inside of her. She eagerly lifted her body until it was pressed against his as his lips moved to her shoulder. Jason let the length of his cock slide inside of her before pulling back again until only the head remained in her pussy. Her hips rose eagerly as he entered her again. With Jason's lips pressed against her shoulder she let her own lips meet his neck. As she kissed a line along his neck she let her tongue slip past her lips and brush over his neck, relishing the smooth feel of his skin.

As they continued their pace became more frenzied, their bodies moving closer to the edge with each passing moment. Olivia concentrated on maintaining control despite her body's desire to climax. The pleasure she was feeling was intoxicating and she wanted to savor it for as long as possible. She let her hands roam over his muscular back as he pumped into her with a force that equally surprised and thrilled her. She clenched herself tight around his shaft each time Jason started to pull out, letting herself feel him better.

She felt his tongue move over her skin followed by his teeth. His teeth bit into her shoulder almost gently making her breath catch in pleasure. Olivia's fingers pressed harshly into his back as she waited for her climax to wash over her.

Jason KNEW....

Knew that he was on the verge of losing control and letting the beast within him emerge...

Knew that as Olivia's body surged under him and her breathing became near frantic he was within seconds of his own orgasm.

Even as his hips pistoned his swollen cock in and out of Olivia he felt his control slipping...

Lifting his body off her he took the opportunity to admire the sweat sheened and perfect body of his lover...

Then drove himself deep into her body as he felt HIS eyes change into the beasts...the red of the animal tinting Olivia's skin erotically as his body trembled and then shook violently into the first wave of his own release.

Ken had enough control to lower his face into the hollow of Olivia's neck, trying to hide the glowing eyes once again as her own lids slowly opened.

Feeling his jaws open and his teeth sink into her satin skin as his hands gripped her buttocks, lifting her body as he rammed into her over...and over...and over.

Praying the beast didn't kill her as he lost control and felt his human body swell and shift...the pleasure of his orgasm traded for the control...of an animal.

Oliva cried out as Jason’s teeth bit into her shoulder, pushing her to her orgasm. She could feel Jason cumming as well and that only served to heighten her orgasm. She let herself lose control as wave after wave of pleasure moved through her body. Her fingers dug deeper into his back as they came together.

As Jason continued to slam his cock into her it felt as if he was getting bigger. The pleasurable sensations this created had her moaning and writhing beneath him. It had seemed as if he had been filling her completely before and now she could feel herself stretch to accommodate his size every time he entered her. She raised her hips up to meet his thrusts allowing him to slide deeper inside of her.

Olivia pressed her lips to his skin and kissed and licked her way along his neck. She pulled back and brought her lips to his lips in a heated kiss. During the second it took to bring her lips to his she thought his blue eyes looked less blue and more…red. Before she could really study it their lips met and Jason’s eyes closed. She didn’t give it a second thought as Jason’s tongue slid between her parted lips and started to massage her own.

Olivia cried out in pain...and then pleasure...

Her already tight, slick sex washing with her orgasm and tightening around Jason's enraged cock...

It triggered his own orgasm and he pounded unthinking into her body...driving to hammer his shaft deep into her womb as he released his seed into it...

Strangely the beast didn't take that moment to seize control...and as Jason slowly recovered from the pleasure induced weakness he began to understand...

As in spirit they had shared the orgasm...so did they share a form of concern for the woman who had brought it to them...

Jason kissed Olivia's lips and brushed the hair back from the delicate features of her face...lifting his weight off her to lower himself beside before sliding a comforting arm under her head...

He didn't need to look into a mirror to know the beast had subsided and his eyes had returned to the normal hue...the animal inside had returned to some dark corner to sleep away it's satiated self...

He knew he no longer needed to worry about the beast hurting her...now all he had to do was keep it a secret from her, for as long as he could...

And as his own eyes grew heavy and his breathing slowed sleep came to him...and the concern slipped away from his mind, to be replaced by the dream of himself running free across an unknown field...his mate beside him.

Olivia sighed as her body relaxed against the bed, the last of her orgasm subsiding. She can feel Jason relax above her as he gently kisses her. His hand brushes the tendrils of her hair out of her face and then he moves to lie beside her. His arm goes under her head and she leans back against it. She feels completely content as she closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep.

***********************************************************************

Olivia awakes with a yawn. She lets herself wake up a little more before opening her eyes. Even with the dark blinds there is a little light finding it's way into the room. She looks around and sees the rest of the bed empty. Looking over at the clock she sees it's already almost 9:00. Jason is evidently already up and she can't help but feel a little relieved. She had worried about feeling awkward getting up with him. Getting up she stretches before grabbing the t-shirt she had been wear off the floor and slipping it back on.

She quietly opens the door and looks down the hall towards the kitchen, smelling coffee. She doesn't hear the shower running so she hurries into the bathroom. She takes a quick shower and does the best job she can of brushing her teeth without a toothbrush. She quickly dries off and goes into the guest room to get dressed. Her clothes are dry for the most part, though the jeans are still a little damp and she can't help but cringe as she pulls them on. She pulled a hair band out of the pocket of her jeans and pulled her hair back into a ponytail.

Olivia quickly makes the bed and takes the t-shirt to the hamper in the bathroom before heading into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. She doesn't see Jason but there is a fresh mug sitting next to the coffee pot and she sees a used cup next to the sink. Maybe he's outside doing something, she thought as she moved to pour herself some coffee.

Jason was outside.

Outside and enjoying several of the reasons he had chosen the home he had.

It was at the end of any known trail and gave him infinate seclusion and privacy.

It was part of a forest and open range that he could enjoy at his whim in either form.

And there was a small river that pooled directly behind the cabin.

He had dreamed...and somewhere in the middle of it the dream had become part reality....he WAS running in a field, in a form he enjoyed not often enough...his fur streaming behing him as he ran on all fours and the wind whistled past his ears. He had fed...and grew thirsty...the water drawing him to it and as he drank calming him....and once again he changed forms, finding himself waist deep in the relative warmth of the water, washing away the residue of the forest and his feeding...

He had no clothes on as he entered the cabin...nor did he worry. Out here there was only one other person to look at his nude body and that person he enjoyed showing himself to...at least she had semed to enjoy it the night before...

"Did you save another cup for me?"

He chuckled and stepped into the kitchen, his body dry but hair still damp from the quick bath...his eyes taking in the freshly washered figure of Olivia and how her damp clothes cling to all the right places..

"I have some fresh clothes that might fit you...unless you'd like to wear them to town...I think the road is driveable again since the rain quit early this morning?"

She was beautiful...and as she poured another cup for him and then lifted her own too her full lips not disturbed by his nudity...

Another good point...she wasn't disturbed by thier intimacy the night before...

His eyes lifted to her shirt and he wondered..his forehead wrinkling at the thought of what happened exactly...did he "mark" her???

"I'll get dressed and we can see about your car...I called in this morning and gave excuses...you getting stranded as you tried to get me home and all...seems half the town was washed clean by the storm..."

And there had been another killing....

Jason finished his second cup for the day and placed it in the sink...his arm brushing Olivia's shirt as he reached to do so...

"I'll be right back?"

Olivia finished pouring her own coffee and turned to go sit at the table. She almost dropped her cup as Jason surprised her, walking in and asking if she'd saved him some coffee. She'd been even more surprised at the fact that he'd come in without a stitch of clothing on. Then his comfort became evident and she felt comfortable as well. He obviously had no neighbors around and she wasn't about to complain about the view.

"I have some fresh clothes that might fit you...unless you'd like to wear them to town...I think the road is driveable again since the rain quit early this morning?"

She grabbed another cup and filled it with coffee. She handed the coffee to him and leaned back against the counter as she sipped from her own cup, trying to wake up a little more. While her eyes stayed on Jason she noticed his moved over her body as well.

"I'll get dressed and we can see about your car...I called in this morning and gave excuses...you getting stranded as you tried to get me home and all...seems half the town was washed clean by the storm...I'll be right back?"

As Jason spoke he set his cup in the sink and his arm brushed against hers. Her own body almost automatically reacted and she could feel her own desire rising. She pushed it back down; it was time to get to work not drool over Jason.

"Ok…and I'd appreciate the extra clothes if you don't mind. If you show me where they are I'll change while you do and I'll be ready."

Jason grabbed the clothes for her and she put them on while he went to get dressed. She folded her damp clothes and put them under her arm as she went to wait in the kitchen. Looking outside she realized just how nice it was. There didn't even seem to be a cloud in the sky. She decided to wait outside instead, who knew how long they might have to stay in the office or the van today.

She went outside the same door Jason had come in through and looked around at the vast expanse of land. She couldn't see any houses around, just lots of trees. It really was gorgeous and she could see why Jason had been outside earlier, she would spend all her time outside if she lived in a place like this. As she walked she looked around at the rich surroundings. Something distracted her and she turned back towards the house. She noticed she was a little too far from the house and Jason wouldn't be able to see her out here. She started back towards the house realizing how quiet it was out here.

Jason dressed and returned to the kitchen to find it empty, Olivia's empty cup in the sink and the door open...

Through the window he found her again and then quietly watched her moving about the yard as if enjoying the morning and her surroundings...

But something drew her attention and her posture changed...just the hairs on the back of Jason's neck rose to alert him...

Just a few hours after they slept together and already she's showing signs of having a sixth sense...

The thought came to Jason as he closed the door behind him and made his way towards Olivia, his own sense allowing him to spot the object moving through the brush and identify it before he stopped next to his guest.

"It's pretty countryside but nothing compared to what I'm looking at"

He almost felt guilty at using the compliment to distact Olivia...and yet it was the truth as she turned and joined him in the walk back to her car... Fifteen minutes later they arrived to find the vehicle as they had left it, intact but buried to the axles in the now dried mud...

"Get in and I'll see if I can help with a push?" He suggested and waited until Olivia had the car running an in gear to lift the bumper and nudge it from the ruts...

Minutes later they were bouncing merrily along the road with the radio playing a familiar tune. The trip stayed quiet save for Jason's occasional direction giving and then that too gave way as Olivia found her sense of direction and guided herself....

It left Jason with nothing to do but admire Olivia and concentrate on what he needed to do with the present threat to the human population of the city...and the not so human.

He was confident he knew who the aggressor was and the motives behind the violence...was sure he knew where to find the "lair" and the way to bring the man in without violence...but what he confused him was why the man responsible hadn't made any attempt to contact him...

"We're here?"

Olivia's voice cut into his thoughts and he was surprised he had lost track of time and location, his trust in Olivia showing in the fact he had allowed himself to do so...

"I'm going to go in and check messages and the animals..."

He suggested gently as he looked at the outside of the buildings they called the "office"...

"You could use the time to return home and dress in a fresh uniform...or come in as well?"

But before Olivia could answer the radio broke from it's musical serenade to the serious voice of a shaken announcer...

"Police have reported the presence of a savage animal moving about the streets and advise all civilians to remain indoors or in thier vehicles until the animal can be hunted down."

Olivia had been startled by Jason’s voice and had turned to find him behind her. She’d been so intent on trying to figure out what had caught her attention that she hadn’t even heard him approach. They had walked to the car and found it stuck in the dry mud. She wasn’t sure if they’d be able to get it out but Jason had her get in while he pushed and it was only a matter of moments before the car was free.

As they drove Jason gave her a few directions but soon she was on a familiar enough road to find the way back on her own. She turned the radio up as a Deep Purple song came on. Jason seemed lost in his own thoughts and Olivia let herself get lost in the music. She’d always found music a great way to relax. When she turned into the parking lot of their office she was a little surprised at how quickly the drive had gone. She turned to Jason who had stayed in his own thoughts for the whole ride.

"We're here?"

Jason came out of his reverie quickly and she had his full attention again.

"I'm going to go in and check messages and the animals...You could use the time to return home and dress in a fresh uniform...or come in as well?"

Olivia figured that was probably a very good idea. She could change and feed the dog but before she could answer a breaking news announcement came on the radio.

"Police have reported the presence of a savage animal moving about the streets and advise all civilians to remain indoors or in thier vehicles until the animal can be hunted down."

Olivia turned the car off and she and Jason quickly went inside the offices. While Jason called around and tried to get the exact location of the animal Olivia grabbed the keys to the truck and went outside. She checked to make sure it was stocked up on everything they might need and then pulled it around just as Jason came out the door. He got in and gave her the estimated location of the animal. He turned the radio on so they could be updated of any changes in location.

She sped most of the way there and she could feel her adrenaline rise as they got closer. She hadn’t expected this much action when she’d been assigned here. She had never heard of these kinds of things before so maybe it wasn’t normally like this. She’d have to ask Jason about it later. As they reached the location she saw that it was a semi-busy part of the city but now it was totally dead. She didn’t see anyone in sight. Across the street was a large park and she wondered if the animal was in there or on the street, hiding behind one of the parked cars. She looked at Jason, deferring to him on how they should go about this.

As they sped along Jason used the radio to gather the facts and confirm his suspicions...

"The animal had been reported by a driver after nearly running over the beast as it staggered across the main road...when the driver had pulled over after grazing the animal he had originally thought it was a bum dressed in rags...but after stepping out was surprised to find a large "dog or wolf" that fled from the scene. Though hurt it was able to move and fled into an unoccupied building..."

"Olivia I want you to watch my back on this one...stay close to me and if it comes down to us finding the animal follow my lead, OK?"

Olivia guided the ancient truck around the last corner as if it were an Indy pace car and assured him she would as she braked in front of the address...Jason pointing to the alley beside as they moved into the street and warning...

"Draw your weapon Olivia but do NOT fire unless it attacks, a cornered animal is dangerous but a wounded one is even...worse."

To her credit Olivia was quick in obeying and held the weapon ready, the back door sagging on its hinges where someone or something had forced its way in...

"Note the scratch marks...familiar?"

Jason stepped over the door and let his vision adjust as Olivia moved in as well...his senses telling him the vacant building was just that....empty...and yet there might be some answers within...

"This way..."

A flight of steps loomed to their right and Jason began the descent, using the scent of the beast to guide him down and to a room close to the steps.

"Flashlights"

And as the pair of beams clicked on it became obvious they had found the temporary shelter of someone...remnants of clothing tossed on a large table...a makeshift bed in a far corner...several scraps of paper and photo's on a second table beside it...

"The pictures" Jason pointed out, satisfied the room was empty save for them... "Recognize anyone?"

Staring up at them was the face of the woman in the hotel...her pretty face alive and her eyes alert as she posed for the camera...

"It links this scene to the first crime scene...but before or after?"

Olivia's voice was questioning in the relative dark...Jason feeling her tense as she lifted the photo to study it closer, the reflection of another man visible from a mirror in the background.

"Maybe gives us a lead if we can find out the name of this man as well?"

Jason didn't need to look twice to know the name of the face in the photo, the scent of the man was strong enough as he looked around the room and bent to lift a rag soaked red...

"He was here less than 20 minutes ago...the blood is still fresh...and his name is Jeff Daniels...collect the photo's and we'll leave the rest for later, I'll take this rag to compare the DNA..."

Outside again Jason could see the tension ease from Olivia's body though her face remained curious with unasked questions; the only words coming from her full lips though were carefully neutral.

"Where next... Boss?"

"First the lab to drop off the sample...then back to our offices where we can file those pictures and let you zip home for a change of clothes...I like the shape of you under my shirt but it hangs a little loose at times and isn’t quite…issue?"

Grinning to trying and alleviate the friction that had grown between them he nodded to the neckline and the evidence of no bra worn or needed by Olivia.

"I'll feed the animals while you change and when you return we can trade questions and theories..."

The ride back to the lab was uneventful and with results promised before the day was over Olivia dutifully returned the truck to the garage, her quiet attitude giving pause to Jason as he accepted the photo’s and watched her move to her own car.

And then he moved inside...Dropping the pictures on his desk as he moved quickly to the kennels in the rear and the scent he had picked up earlier...

"You can come out now Jeff.... there’s no use trying to hide from me...anymore."

Seconds later the figure of a roughly bandaged man appeared his face drawn in pain as he slowly approached Jason.

"You'd better supply some answers I'll accept before my partner returns Jeff...or I'll stuff you in one of those cages.

As they drove to the lab Olivia remained quiet, lost in her own thoughts. She was still a bit in shock at what they'd found. The picture of the dead woman with the reflection of the photographer in the mirror behind her, the rag soaked in blood. Those things had been enough to get her excited. The fact that Jason knew the man's name was an amazing stroke of luck and she had found her hope renewed that they would be able to catch this guy, without him hurting anyone else.

As she drove though she was getting a chance to go over everything in her head and she couldn't help but wonder how Jason had known who the man was. His reflection in the picture hadn't been crystal clear. She had figured they would at least have to see if they could get the image cleared up before it would be clear enough to get a positive ID. And how did Jason know this guy well enough to recognize him from a not so great picture, in a semi-dark room, she wondered. She knew she had to stop questioning Jason in her mind and she'd cleared her thoughts by the time they reached the lab.

She went in with Jason and watched as he filled out forms, and gave them the rag. They promised they would get the results to them by the end of the day at the latest. They went back to the truck and Olivia drove back to the offices. She parked the truck in the garage and they both headed towards the front of the building. Before they parted ways she gave Jason the picture.

"It shouldn't take me too long to get home and change. I should be able to get back in 45 minutes tops. Try not to solve the whole case before I get back."

She said the last part with a teasing smile. She walked the short distance to her car and got inside. She watched in her rear-view mirror as Jason walked into the offices. She waited a few seconds and then drove off. When she got back to her apartment she quickly took the dog outside for a short walk and got him some fresh food and water. She went into her bedroom and put on more appropriate clothes, folding Jason's clothes up to take back with her. She grabbed her keys and headed back out to her car.

As she parked her car in front of the Animal Control offices she smiled triumphantly at the clock. It had only taken her 30 minutes. She walked into the building; about to brag about how fast she'd been, when she heard Jason's muffled voice coming from the back. As she continued in that direction she thought she heard another voice reply to Jason. She was trying to walk quietly and she realized she was trying to sneak up on him. What is wrong with me, she thought. Jason was her partner and she should trust him completely. She was almost to the back now and she walked towards the door, pushing it open as she spoke.

"Hey Jason. Pretty impressive how quickly I got back, isn't it?"

Jason stood beside the now seated man and handed him a cup of fresh brewed coffee...

"You feel better after your shower?"

The man quietly accepted the cup and drank long and hard from it and Jason winced, knowing the temperature of the dark liquid was scalding as it ran down the insides of his throat...and yet it was obvious it was the first thing he had to drink in days...

"When did you eat last Jeff?"

The cup was already empty as the man placed it on the desk and turned to reply...

"Before I was at the hotel...."

"Before you changed you mean? But then you fed off of the man and the woman, right?"

"Not the woman Jason...I swear.

The man blurted and almost seemed grateful at the interruption of the door opening as Olivia walked in...

"Hey Jason. Pretty impressive how quickly I got back, isn't it?"

Jason turned and smiled, then turned back to Jeff and met his eyes...

"This is Jeff, Olivia...He's about to turn himself in and shed some light on what had happened lately....Jeff, meet my patrner..."

Jason stood ready, his eyes on Jeff in case the man decided to refuse...and breathed a sigh of relief when he only shrugged and asked a question...

"All of it Jason...or just from that night at the hotel...

"Just what you saw and did Jeff from that night forward until now...I'll fill in the details with Olivia later if she has any questions regarding myself...allright?"

"I understand"

Jeff nodded and began, his eyes not on Jasons...but on Olivia's as he told his story...

"My name is Jeff and up until the night she died I was the lover of the woman you found in the hotel room...I loved her and she returned the sentiment, accepted me for who and WHAT I was...and we had planned after that very night to leave this town. But her husband found out and surprised us...by the time I came out of the bathroom it was too late...she was dead...and he was standing there waiting to do the same for me."

"And then you fought him?"

Jason pressed the point as Jeff paused and seemed to be unwilling to continue, the memories of the dead woman clear apparent in his pained expression...

"No...I was angry and changed....he tried to cut me and then ran like the coward he was...I followed and caught him outside..Then I killed him."

Eyes blazing he met Jason's eyes as if daring him to disapprove...and Jason nodded in understanding as he questioned...

"So you changed...you'd better tell Olivia into what exactly...and why you killed the man who attacked you after he found you with his wife..."

Jeff's face showed his confusion as he looked from Jason and then to Olivia...and finally back to Jason again...

"I'm sorry..I can smell your scent on her and thought she was your mate?"

"She is Jeff...but only recently and I want her crystal clear on what happened...don't forget she's a police officer as well as I am..."

Jeff nodded and seemed to accept the explanation, turning his eyes back to Olivia before finishing...

"I'm sorry Olivia, please believe me...I thought you understood everything about our kind and how it was....I killed the man because he killed my mate....we don't recognize the human marriage ritual as a valid "claiming" right...we use our own methods that keep us with those mates for life once we've claimed them and they've accepted...After he killed her and attacked me I had but one choice....that being to change into my werewolf form...and kill him."

Jason had shifted his eyes as well...to his partners as Jeff finished his explanation...to see how she reacted...and how many other questions came to her mind...

"It fits our theory Olivia...what do you think? Is he telling the truth...or lying?"

Even though Olivia had heard more than one voice she was a little surprised to see the man sitting at the desk. She figured part of her surprise from the state of the man. His face was pale and he just looked haggard despite the fact that he looked to be freshly showered. Before she could ask the obvious question Jason jumped in.

"This is Jeff, Olivia...He's about to turn himself in and shed some light on what had happened lately....Jeff, meet my patrner..."

Jason stayed where he was but she could see him tense up for a moment as he watched Jeff. She turned her attention back to Jeff, curious to find out exactly what was going on.

"All of it Jason...or just from that night at the hotel...

"Just what you saw and did Jeff from that night forward until now...I'll fill in the details with Olivia later if she has any questions regarding myself...allright?"

Olivia's eyes had moved back and forth between the two but as Jeff started to speak again she focused solely on him for the moment.

"I understand. My name is Jeff and up until the night she died I was the lover of the woman you found in the hotel room...I loved her and she returned the sentiment, accepted me for who and WHAT I was...and we had planned after that very night to leave this town. He had kept his eyes on her as he spoke and she hoped the shock didn't show on her face. How could he have done the damage she'd seen? Near the end of his story his expression had turned distressed and it was obvious it was hard for him to talk about it.

"And then you fought him?"

Jason's words helped pull her out of the sadness she'd started to feel for Jeff and she reminded herself what had been done to the dead man.

"No...I was angry and changed....he tried to cut me and then ran like the coward he was...I followed and caught him outside..Then I killed him."

She watched as the man looked at Jason intensely and she felt her heart start beating harder as she started to tense at the possibility of the man attacking Jason.

"So you changed...you'd better tell Olivia into what exactly...and why you killed the man who attacked you after he found you with his wife..."

Olivia was as confused as Jeff looked. She hadn't paid much attention to Jeff saying he had changed, she had figured he meant he'd gone into a rage. Jeff's next words got her attention.

"I'm sorry..I can smell your scent on her and thought she was your mate?"

Before she could say anything Jason spoke up.

"She is Jeff...but only recently and I want her crystal clear on what happened...don't forget she's a police officer as well as I am..."

She was stunned that Jason had just told Jeff that she was his mate. She could feel the heat rise in her cheeks even as she fought to not blush; it would only make it worse and she quickly got a hold of herself.

She was still stuck on Jeff's words and she almost didn't catch Jason's question. Looking over she saw he was looking at her intently and she knew he was expecting an answer. She wasn't sure why Jeff's words seemed so surprising, they had theorized about this. Her mind just seemed to continue to have trouble accepting this, despite how well it pulled everything together. She just couldn't seem to make her brain believe that this man could turn into a werewolf. But she could trust that he believed that he could change into a werewolf and she figured that made him a very dangerous man indeed.

"I don't think he's lying, I think he did kill the man. He's not showing any of the signs we usually see with people who are lying…and why would he lie about something like this? I don't think anyone else will have trouble believing he killed that man; you only have to hear his story to seriously question his sanity. What I don't get is why he's here? Why did you come here instead of one of the main police offices to confess? And why did you decide to confess in the first place?"

Olivia's earlier qualms had returned and she was sure Jason and Jeff knew each other. Even as she tried to think of reasons they would know each other she knew her suspicious wouldn't be banished so easily.

Jason's eyes moved from his partners questioning ones to Jeffs...and found the battle of confusion in them...

He could understand the paradox Jeff found himself in, he had confessed to the muder of one man and implicated himself to being considered a dangerous and crazy man in the same confession...

And yet Jeff wasn't crazy...only trying to live with dual set of rules that governed his life..and often crisscrossed them in confusing ways...

"Because he's reporting to the highest authority he knows Olivia and the one that would be the most likely to understand...that being....me."

It would have been almost comical if it hadn't been so serious Jason thought to himself...the way the confused look moved to Olivia's eyes as Jeff's was replaced with one of relief.

"But that might mean?"

Olivia poised the question and left it teetering on the edge...

And Jason nearly pushed her over with his answer...

"That Jeff is part of a pack that is currently led by me Olivia. His life is in my hands now."

"So that means you're a ????"

Jeff nodded and met her look of disbelief...

"Wolf"

Olivia watched Jeff's reaction at her words and she could see that he was confused, though she wasn’t exactly sure by what. She looked over at Jason and saw that he was watching Jeff as well. Unlike Jeff's face, Jason's was totally unreadable and she was caught by surprise as he spoke.

"Because he's reporting to the highest authority he knows Olivia and the one that would be the most likely to understand...that being....me."

His words made her the confused one now and she struggled to make sense of them.

"But that might mean?"

She wasn't sure what Jason was going to answer but she already knew it was going to be something that was going to change things and a part of her almost wished she would have left it all alone and just taken the guy's confession.

"That Jeff is part of a pack that is currently led by me Olivia. His life is in my hands now."

"So that means you're a ????"

She knew the skepticism she felt was showing on her face but Jason ignored it as he nodded.

"Wolf"

Once Jason had confirmed what she'd been thinking she wasn't exactly sure what to do. It explained so many things, his incredible sense of smell, the way he was able to control the wild dogs. Whatever it was she'd seen in Jeff that made her doubt that he was a werewolf was not there in Jason. Somehow it seemed more believable when it came to Jason.

Even as the got over her disbelief other emotions and questions were overwhelming her. How long had Jason known it was Jeff? What if he had only slept with her to distract her from the case or something? Did Jason and his pack frequently have these kinds of situations happen?

There was one question that bothered her more than any of the others. Was she safe here, alone with a murderer and the man who was in charge of him? She hated herself for even thinking it but she knew it was a valid question. She obviously didn't know Jason like she'd thought she had and she already considered Jeff dangerous, no matter how docile he looked at the moment. She needed to stop and think and that wasn't going to happen with both of them looking at her.

"I see. I guess today is the day for surprises, first Jeff and his confession and now yours. I'm still a little shocked. Why don't I go get some paper so Jeff can write his confession down? That way I can clear my head and you guys can have some privacy to talk about…whatever you need to."

She didn't wait for an answer, instead hurrying out of the room. She headed to the front office and sat down in one of the chairs. A part of her was urging her to keep going out the door and home but she couldn't. She had to believe she could still trust Jason and if she left she'd ruin any trust they had so she forced herself to stay in the chair as she tried to calm down.

Jason didn't need any sixth sense to know Olivia was shaken to the core. Her theories of a "werewolf" committing the crimes were just that...theories up until a few minutes ago. She had been isolated...aloof...and suddenly it had become up close and personal.

Too personal.

The thought of it all was staggering...as she tried to grasp a reality she couldn't fathom...

Or perhaps...accept?

He calmed Jeff and accepted his promise to remain within the reach of his voice then turned to look for Olivia.

And finding her right where she had told them she would be...the paper in her hand as she slumped over the desk.

For a fleeting instant he feared the worst, dreading in her confusion she had resorted to running from the terror of it all in a frantic, final way...

And then as he focused his senses he smiled in relief...the sound of her breathing and the beat of her heart coming clearly to his ears...

"I think we need to talk Olivia...For you to speak what's in your heart...and for me to answer the same way...so you can find a way to understand my world ...and perhaps me ...yours."

Olivia's spinning to face him didn't surprise him. It was an almost normal reaction for a person when they realized someone...or something had crept up on them.

What surprised him was the fire in her eyes as she turned to face him...

"Is this how you make someone understand your world then Jason... seduce your partner and then tell her you're not just a wolf...but a leader of them that condones murder?"

"If someone killed the one person you loved in your life...the ONLY person who might accept you for what you were and loved you regardless...would you do less Olivia?"

Olivia had a scathing remark all ready but Jason’s question took her by surprise. She wanted to say that she would never stoop to murder but as soon as she thought it she knew it wasn’t true.

As much as she’d like to take the moral high ground she knew better. If she’d been in the same situation as Jeff she couldn’t say things would have gone any differently. She didn’t know if that meant Jeff wasn’t as bad of a person as she’d thought or if she was just as bad as he was.

Still she was bothered by the whole situation. She felt betrayed by Jason and she couldn’t help but think he’d slept with her in hopes that she would take his revelation in stride. And she was sure he must have held back facts that would have helped with the case.

“I won’t lie to you Jason, I would probably do the same as Jeff but that doesn’t make it right or acceptable. Do you condone or even encourage this kind of thing as their “leader”? You know how bad this all looks…people would think you were protecting them, you’d be brought up on charges for sure. How long did you know it was him Jason?”

Her fear at the situation was slowly waning though it was still there in the below all the other feelings that were surging through her at the moment. The image of the women still kept popping into her mind but she worked to ignore it. She let her anger at the situation help her focus.

“So what is it…is murder common place among werewolves? Do you murder people on a regular basis Jason?”
