music trivia

MG's guesses are all right and so are most of excearulo's. I dunno if there is a band called the grand illusion, but it's not one of the answers I was looking for. it's a possible clue to the answer I did want, tho.... these are the ones that are left:

5. chuck and john panozzo
8. eddie and alex van halen ;)

quick question inspired by one of the postsers here: what live album opens with the words, "bon soir, montreal!"? (possibly after an opening instrumental interlude, not sure.... been awhile since I heard it.)

Interesting question...I'm embarassed to say that I don't know... *hopes that it is from one of your "classic rock" albums so then I can be excused* ;)

yeah it is, sorry to say. I think this band was even tagged with the "corporate rock" label along with bands like foreigner.... not sure what that meant other than they sold a shit load of records ;)

and I also guess that means no, it's not bowie. at least he's not what I'm looking for.... I never considered the fact that there might have been other live albums recorded in montreal.

did I spell bon soir right? I was guessing....

it was the album "captured" by journey. from an earlier post in the thread, still looking for the bands that these brothers are or once were in together:

5. chuck and john panozzo
8. eddie and alex van halen

*another one of my favorite live album intros: "from the streets of toronto to the streets of london. now here he is to kick your ass, pat travers!"

2. you broke my heart so I busted your jaw
3. shiny beast (bat chain puller)
4. chocolate starfish and the hot dog flavoured water
5. swordfishtrombones

Am new, but am a bit of a rock historian.......sooooooooo here is a good one to bump the thread along..........Ian Gillan, during his early days with Deep Purple, appeared on another recording, which went on to become a best seller in the early 70's.........name the album.......

Hint......Tony Ashton, Jon Lord's buddy also appeared on that album......in the chorus

Very well done, Moon,,,,,Right on the button

Okay........something a touch harder.......Emerson, Lake & Palmer came together after some varying success with 3 seperate bands.......Name them and no cheating if you have the "Manticore" box set, where they reprised a song from each of those bands.........LOL
