Nerd Hook Up Thread

Anyone reckon they can out-nerd me? You can pick the topic, as long as it isn't musicians.

Charizard. Flying dual type eliminated its weakness to ground type attacks and the power boost from raising it at low levels is unmatched.

In Diamond and Pearl only 5 new fire type pokemon were added. Name them.

Stop right there, criminal scum! Arcanine has the highest base stat total of any non-legendary generation I pokemon. It bests Charizard in HP, Attack, Defense and Speed. It naturally learns Take Down, which, coupled with its extremely high Attack and Speed, allows it to one-hit KO almost any other species of equal level, including Charizard.

Game, set and match!

Although I cannot answer your question, so I suppose you win that round.

I guess I qualify as a nerd, though not in the traditional sense. I do shower, and wear clothes that fit and have never owned a pocket protector. I'm a military history nerd. I have loved it since I was a kid. Of course as I grew up I became a reenactor or a military living historian. I do multiple nations from the western world, and from different eras. I'm a bit of grammar nut, I can't stand people who can't speak or write english properly. It makes me cringe at times. I sew and own my own machine. I make modify or fix alot of my gear. I have a tool cabinet in the living room of my apartment. I also have a map of Philmont Scout Ranch, a place I have been and a WWII red cross poster. I can speak at length on any subject that I have read, and have a nearly photgraphic memory. My apartment is neat but not so neat that you think my mother or Martha Stewart visits. I get all excited when I see stuff I am looking for at surplus stores, flea markets, and antique stores. I love my Jeep, and don't see the need for anything more.

As for being more appreciative, I can only speak for myself, but for most of my life growing up, I was kind of an outsider and didn't expect anything from anyone. Now as an adult, I appreciate it and am sometimes surprised when people do things for me. I still don't expect much from anyone. I am now more physically confident than I was growing up. I take more pride in what is between my ears than what my body can do. I have very talented hands, I can fix or build almost anything, but that is only part of me. I have a quick wit which some people can't defend against, mostly former football players.

I do have a thing for the star wars movies and zombie films.

I am quite interested and curious in finding out why being good at academics and being part of certain subcultures would automatically ostracize people from the mainstream.

And the fact that being geeky / nerdy is now being considered as mainstream makes the real ones among us want to turn to something different to run far away from the madding crowd.

Turn into a jock, maybe :p

What is undisputably and unanimously agreed to be the best fire-type in Red and Blue?

I'm sorry, but as a neutral part (I appoint myself judge  ) I have to say that that question is an opinion question and cannot be answered by facts. Also you cannot argue that any answer is then incorrect because if someone does have a different answer then you can have an "undisputed and unanimous" best pokemon.

The question is also fairly ambiguous too, you never asked which fire type is the strongest, you asked which is the best which could just mean who is the favourite.

Ah, but 'strongest' would imply whichever pokemon had the greatest physical strength. 'Best' simply means most useful, and that is widely accepted to be Arcanine.

Although to be honest I was hoping for a cult film challenge rather than regressing to my pokemon days.

Exactly, so your question is still ambiguous you think best means one thing, while other people think something else, either way still an opinion question.

Interesting thread...

feeling my age a bit though...funny a couple of beautiful nerd lovers and suddenly everyone is "sort of a nerd" To be fair here though if you spend more of your life reading and writing erotic text in the age of instant graphic pictorial/video/probably 3d on demand and free porn than you do absorbing crack for the eyes or heaven forbid engaging in sexual congress with a human being (besides yourself I mean.) You might be a nerd.

now that's more fucking like it. Gotta love a girl in glasses. If you absolutely must for biological imperative fuck a dim girl, r in glasses to make her appear tolerably smart.

Note: Make absolutely sure her mother was smart as that gives you a 50% chance at smart daughters and 100% chance at smart sons. Your new dad-in law..can be a fuckwit.

There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.... :D
Now That's funny.

Reminds me of the comment the above mention uber nerd friend made of my new hobby at the time. I had sorted through 20,000 individual one dollar bills (not all at one time mind you I'd get a strap..not not THAT kind you kinky bitch!..and sort it return the discards and so on..once I asked for six straps and sat sorting it in the lobby twanged the norms nerd-dar out of joint so I decided against public displays of large volumes of small denomination cash. It seems that not everyone has 20 15 vision and can read upside down across the room.

So nerd friend says in response to my recent palindrome find, Well those number are only interesting if you are holding them with your ten phalanges. If humans had fingers and a thumb per hand base twelve numbers would look entirely different.

I sort of got sidetracked and finally got around to the tab with OP's profile and her previous posts...browsed..thought, postulated and and ready to be insightful...not really though..

.Freckly here's what little I got for you first of all you have a nerdy outlook in the use of nerd as a culture. You are approaching the acquisition of a relationship in a linear straightforward manner. You identified your target audience and are doing research on a specific group to find the one you mesh with. smart on a lot of levels...first of this niche market is under-served..sure not all nerds are involuntariness celibate, but stereotypes do not grow in a vacuum. Therefore you are in what for you is a target rich environment. You have what is required to attract nerds. You are a girl and you talk to nerds and look them in the eye. (presumably) Just because someone is in a wheelchair doesn't mean its rude to look at them directly they are a person with a different mode of transport. Similarly nerds may talk over your head (it seems) but it is not done to demean you. We tend to give that thousand yard stare when we think about things, and when we come back to earth its totally ok if you are looking directly at us when we rejoin you. Ive noticed it disconcerts you normals when we check out briefly.

I found this post to be highly offensive. First, you said that lettering in football instantly made you more popular. Not true. I lettered in football for 3 years in high school and never got a date. You act like athletics and social ostracism due to metal ability are mutually exclusive concepts.

You say taller men have an advantage at getting dates and higher paying jobs. Again, you're wrong. I have been turned down from several jobs because of my height.

I am a big, strong, intelligent nerd. I've been tall all my life and so far the only advantage I've gotten is reaching things on the top shelf without assistance. I haven't been able to purchase my own personal vehicle yet because the ones that are within my price range and actually run are to small for me to be able to operate.

Excuse my language but you seem like a diminutive asshole with and inferiority complex bigger than you are. Though I may be wrong and you're simply choosing to victimize yourself.

I will not deny height and appearance play roles in finding relationships and wages. The optimal range however seems to be only lightly above average. Too much of a good thing if you will. The difficult things to account for are thing like confidence, carriage, even inflection of the voice. There are to many factors to account nerdiness (Yes I know that's not really a word) to just having greater mental ability and lack of physique.

That's why nerds get such a bad rap. Angry nerds ruin it for everyone
