Rhyst, preaching from a lawful evil point, and not just to be contrary to our demonic friend, what about this chick makes her worth 2 hours worth of driving?

Have you met her? In person, on the phone, or is it entirely digital?
Is she hot? Insane? Quiet? Shy? Easily corruptible? Does she put out?

If she's already wrapped up with some other meatbag, and the distance is as considerable as it is, why bother?

Go get thine women is a fine philosophy, but so is bitch ain't worth it.
I'm sure there are plenty of available, nearby, women running around. Just gotta go find 'em.

Also, am I the only straight, non virgin, dude here?
Seems most of the guys here either swing both ways, or don't seem to be doin' much swaying at all...

Well, I wasn't a virgin long before I figured out I was Bi, if that counts for anything.

Well, for her, all of the above except for putting out, (edit: she's not nuts, either, although a little different, but no more so than any of us) as far as I know. I have met her several times, yes. I know where she lives. Hell, I've already met her parents and immediate family. If you would like a description, I could certainly provide it.

I guess you could say the main reason why this girl would be worth the distance would be that we mesh well on a variety of levels, personality-wise. From sense of humour to the love for Star Wars and a passion for writing. I have talked about it all with her. She's pretty cute, loves hugs, a little quiet in person some times, but also very intelligent and listens well. She's a bit of an over-achiever. We can always make each other feel better, whether that's through sense of humour or through a shoulder to cry on. We have eye-to-eye views on damn near everything. She's a fan of KoTOR, Final Fantasy games, wants to play RPG's like D&D and Alternity but hasn't yet because her town is small and boring.

I could go on.

Besides, if she looks like her mom when she's older, she's going to be pretty good-lookin still.

As for the "available, nearby" women thing... I don't go to bars very often, if at all. Every woman I meet has some hang-up about every damn thing. Besides which, as I've said before, I'm a fuckin chicken. Every woman I've met that's wothwhile around here (read: geeky in some fashion; one that I would surely date) is either dating someone or a lesbian. Or bi, with a girlfriend.

I can attest to that fact, that many if not all the women in Edmonton, are crazy or nigh crazy, or otherwise all the good ones are taken. One would think in a city with a million people I could find one, but no. I cannot.

Um I'm a straight male who has been laid. We're gonna go with a few times, and shut my mouth after. I have a steady girlfriend this is my second one and the first was into three-ways, among other stuff. I'm gonna go with a few times.

And Snakey's straight, I think.

Especially in Sherwood Park, the suburb I live in, the women are either snobby, nuts, or taken. Chronie could probably attest to that fact as well.

But yes, my determination won't waver in this. So we'll see what happens.

Clerky, I kind of figured it was actually a bit of a catch he was longing after. Since he pined on this thread and another one, and he mentioned it several times, I figured she was worth the trouble.

That being said, Rhyst, make sure that she is, in fact worth it. If she is, don't wait for her to break it off with this guy.

I didn't wait. In fact, I did something about it on Friday after thinking about it for a day or so. I'm just waiting for her response.

Hey, okay, hi...

I just dropped in ... to see what condition my condition was in ...

Wow, sorry. That just happened all by itself.

I really dropped in to introduce myself briefly; I'm a geek of the type once known as the "English Nerd." I was just sounding off with another friend about how few nerds, geeks, and other poindexters and eggheads there seemed to be in the world of erotica. And then here you all are. So now I have to tell my friend that I sit corrected.

Anyway, here I am, and nice to meet you all.

Welcome! Always nice to see a new face around here! :)

Ooh! A girl!

(just kidding;))

Hey, welcome to the Nerd hangout. When you say you're an English Nerd, does that mean like, literature, or does it mean getting into debates about the Oxford Comma at the intensity normally associated with "Kirk or Picard"?:D

The intelligence, the maturity, the depth, the accent...and how many people survive pissing off that many Nausicaans? Without getting all smug and smirky about it?

Didn't he get smug and smirky like, once, and got stabbed in the heart for his troubles?

I like that Picard not only has the combat skills to fight his way out of a fight, but that he has the smarts to get his enemies to stand down so he need not prove his mettle in battle so often. Also, unlike Kirk, Picard can summon a posse of Klingons to help out when he really needs it.

Also, anyone who quotes Shakespeare as a way of telling his enemy off in a standoff is great.

So yes, Oxford Comma, I like that too. Lately I'm having to be more of a Chinese geek than an English geek. Training to be a Linguist for the Air Force. The Chinese went from having no punctuation to having a love affair with he comma. Makes finding the end of a particular thought a pain in the ass.

Yes, it was the entire basis for an episode with Q, whom I also really enjoy. Q cracks me up, sometimes.

Oh, I wasn't counting pre-attack smugness and smirkiness. I meant that Picard hadn't used surviving the Nausicaans as an excuse to be smug and smirky after the fact, like Kirk might have. "Hey, did you know I was attacked by Nausicaans? Because I'm a bad-ass. Now, off with your pants/metal panties/mod jumpsuit."

I love Q, too. I am especially fond of his observation that it is difficult to work in groups when one is omnipotent.

You know, there is the fact that Picard was not a constant rascally womanizer, as well.

However, despite all of his positive qualities, everyone has to agree, he really was the worst. French guy. Ever.

I mean, honestly. Earl Grey Tea? Shakespeare? Shouldn't he be drinking cafe au latte and reading Cyrano de Bergerac? I can accept his general bad-ass-osity, but for some reason, from TNG-onward, every guy from the continent of Europe is uniformly represented on the show as being English.

This is true. He wasn't much of a Frenchman.
