Need some help here... I can't seem to connect to www.nudetube.com, and a few other folks I've talked to have had no problem connecting. I'm using Sprint to connect to the internet via DSL (my only choice on a military base) and I'm having the same problem on two different PCs in Mozilla and IE.

Anybody else experiencing this problem, and does anybody know how I can fix it?

It's working for me.
Do you have your firewall disabled?
That's the only thing I can think of. That- or maybe the site is blacklisted on the base?

If it's blacklisted on base (although I pay for my own internet, it is all through Sprint, who has an exclusive contract with the Army and Air Force), then I'm not sure what to do about that. I don't even know who I would email to ask.

In other news, Army Girl (now stationed in Virginia) really likes the first chapter of the story I'm writing for her. Seems I managed to blindly guess right on some of the basic witchcraft stuff, despite the majority of my exposure to witchcraft being from reading stories on Lit.

Did I mention that she's into witchcraft? She and her fiance are big into it, though he's much more experienced with it than she is, and she's in that enthusiastic learning phase. That might have ended up being a problem if we ever ended up dating (me and the girl, not me and the fiance, of course), what with her being big into paganism and me being a Roman Catholic (though we'd probably still end up celebrating holy days on all the same days:D).

Hey, I just switched to Verizon and got a new phone, so if anyone wants to send me their phone numbers in PM, we can talk off the board too! :D

Oh, you all need to see Speed Racer, especially ReiRei, right after you see Iron Man. :D

It is an awesome movie, and I think I'm in love with Trixie:heart:

I will admit that I'm not terribly interested in Speed Racer, although we all did enjoy seeing Iron Man. My girlfriend certainly enjoyed the movie.

And Chronie thinks that my girlfriend would look good with Leia buns.

The kids want to see Speed Racer, especially after they heard that Dad watched the original cartoon. Seeing Iron Man is my Mother's Day request:).

Heh, the other day a friend of mine had her hair in pigtails, and due to the relatively short length of her hair, I had to walk halfway across the street to figure out that she wasn't doing the Princess Leia Cinnabuns look.

So, lately I've been reading about the new MRAPs the Army and Marines are using in Iraq. Basically they're bigass armor plated SUV-ish vehicles with a V-shaped bottom that deflects the force of bomb blasts away from the passengers. So far, they seem to be working pretty well against mines and IEDs, although rollovers have proven to be a problem (they're pretty top-heavy, pretty much the opposite of the Humvees, which are almost impossible to flip). Dunno how many nerds here are interested in military tech, but I thought these things are pretty neat, inspired by a South African design from the 1980's.

What?! That's complete bullshit! I've heard rumors that some republican congressman based out of Georgia wants to ban porn on military bases because he feels

Paul Broun said:
Allowing the sale of pornography on military bases has harmed military men and women by: escalating the number of violent, sexual crimes; feeding a base addiction; eroding the family as the primary building block of society...

Not only is that perhaps one of the most inane things I've ever heard, that's a complete violation of the First Amendment's guarantee of freedom of speech and expression. Whats the term? It's unconstitutional! If you pay for internet access, as long as it doesn't place somebody in imminent danger you have the right to access whatever you choose to. If you want to access your favorite band, you have the right! If you want to access photographs of random cats with poorly spelled yet ironic caption based commentary, you have the right! And if you want to access porn, you have the right! And if you don't like porn, your course of action is simple; don't fucking look at it! A third party like the military shouldn't be able to control what you can and cannot access based simply on the fact that they don't like it.

And to use adult entertainment as a scapegoat for sexual misconduct is incredibly folly. If you rape, its because you are a rapist. It's probably because you have twisted preconceived notions in your head. Not because you watched Briana Banks get fucked in the ass.

Porn is the new emo, which is the new video games, which is the new gangsta rap, which is the new heavy metal, which is the new black. Oi!</soapbox>

Unfortunately there's this aspect of the UCMJ (Thanks to my Hubby for providing this.), there's a very very effective way for the military to support this. It's called "Conduct unbecoming of a member of the United States Military." It's a catch all for anything they don't want members of the service to do.

Eh, that guy's a dumbass. His argument was that porn should not be provided to servicemembers at taxpayer expense. It was then pointed out that the merchandise in stores on military bases (run by the Army Air Force Exchange Service) is all acquired using revenue from sales, and not from government money, which primarily goes to pay the salaries of military personel assigned to work with AAFES and some other expenses.

THEN he went on to say that our salaries all come from taxpayer dollars so his point still stands. Of course, the fact that we're the taxpayers putting the biggest investment into our own paychecks (yaknow, the whole putting our lives on the line to protect our country and giving up various freedoms to do so bit) seems to be unimportant to him.

Also worth pointing out that his being a republican isn't really all that relevant to the discussion. Lots of democrats don't like porn either. In any case, this isn't a too terribly nerdy topic of discussion, so I don't think it really needs to be in this thread unless the nerds at large want to talk about it.

Honestly, I could just as easily see this being something that Sprint did independent of the military for whatever reason, who knows. It could also just be my internet in particular being weird. Fact is, it doesn't really affect my ability to aquire or view porn, it's just annoying cause there's this one video I want to watch that I can't get to now. (of all things, a striptease video, not even actual porn this time)

Actually, if anyone has flash video downloading capability, they could just grab it for me and send it to me, and then I don't have to worry about it at all. :D

hey Nerds!

Anyone here play WoW? and if so would you be interested in assemblign on a server for Arena? I've had no luck finidng a good group of people on my server to play with in a PvP fasion, ironic seeing as how its a PvP server

I gave up that soul-sucking endeavour a while ago. One of my exes, however, still plays it constantly.

God, I had a bad day, but I'll live.

I'm confused. But...if you're paying for your personal internet access. It's NOT on the taxpayer's expense. That makes no sense. Is internet provided for y'all or something? I'm under the impression that you guys have personal internet which y'all pay for and that personal connection is being censored. Is that the case here?

And the loot sold at the grocery market is paid for via the profits from the loot sold at the grocery market? And the leftover profit is used to pay military personel? And thats why you cant buy Playboy?

Also worth pointing out that his being a republican isn't really all that relevant to the discussion. Lots of democrats don't like porn either.

True. You're right. It isn't. I was merely pointing out which party he was a part of. In retrospect, I should'nt have even bothered naming his party, but meh. I wasn't trying to be one of those 'OH MY GOD! HE'S A REPUBLICAN AND THEREFORE A STUPID HILLBILLY AND THE ENEMY! SAVE US AL GORE! SAVE US!" yuppies.

Right on. Conversation dropped.

Like I said, I don't even know if the connection is being censored, or if it's just weirdness on my end. I'm also concerned that if I raise the issue with Sprint, they might decide to notice the wireless router I have with four machines sharing the one connection (which they specifically stated when I signed the contract that I was not allowed to do). So eh, not worth the potential trouble over one striptease video.

Basically, the way it works for AAFES (the government owned company that runs the Base Exchanges, Post Exchanges, Shopettes, Minimarts, Class Sixes (Liquor shops), and Burger Kings on Army and Air Force installations) is that they are a business. They have to turn a profit. This profit largely goes into more merchandise and services which they offer to the personnel using their facilities. The extra profit, I understand, actually gets funneled into Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR), an organization which provides services such as rec centers, gyms, travel groups (can you find 20 bored sodiers and airmen who want to go to Disneyland? They can rent you a couple of vans and get you a mad nice group discount. Want to go camping at Lake Tahoe? They can rent you tents and fishing tackle).

The (retarded) argument being made here was that because the profits used to aquire the merchandise (in this case, nudie mags), came mostly from servicemembers who are paid with tax money (which, incidentally, we also pay taxes on, amusingly enough), then it was taxpayer money being used to fund porn.

Honestly, I've only bought a Playboy on two occassions: When they had Shannon Doherty and when they had the Air Force Basic Training instructor lady posing nude (it was a bit underwhelming, actually, due to the excessive airbrushing. The instructor was relieved of her duties when it was published and sent home, incidentally.)

I'm sorry, but... *twitch, twitch*

Y'ALL IS NOT A WORD! IT'S NOT EVEN A PROPER CONTRACTION! IT'S TERRIBLE ENGLISH IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!

*ahem*

Excuse my outburst. Carry on.

Is too English. Used in sentences such as "Howdy, Y'all!" :D

If you think that's bad, you should honestly hear what Mandarin Chinese sounds like when slurred in a Beijing accent.

You and all are the words it is contracted from. "You all" sounds terrible and I very much dislike it. It is terrible english to start with, contracting it just makes it worse. I won't stop your use of it, I just had to say something.

Doesn't strike me as bad English, just a bit grammatically unusual. I would like to propose that "Hey You All" sounds better and less awkward then "Hey All of you", if a bit redneck.

That's what "everyone/everybody" is for. Heh.
