I like the new story page, very clean and smooth, but my one complaint is that on mobile it's a bit too easy to rate a story while scrolling. I was checking the stats on Foxbutt and ended up giving myself three stars - I don't believe in rating my own stories but I didn't see a way to un-rate it so heck it, gave it five.

To be honest, this happened to me too. While it is handy to vote by one-click on a desktop, it would be better to use a two-touch(?) (choose & confirm) system on smartphones etc.

There are two features I need to know before reading a story !) Have I read it before and 2) How long is it.
To resolve 1) maybe put 'MY' rating up on the opening page. I may read it again but knowing I have read it before is useful (and it might encourage others to rate stories)
For 2) it is annoying to get to the end of page 1 only to find the story is 43 pages long. I'll still read it, but when I have a long break. If I have that info then I might be motivated to use your bookmark scheme to avoid leaving the story open for a couple of days.
It would be nice 3) to have the date posted posted on page 1.
You seem to have destroyed the read more of this series feature: not convinced by the flip straight to the author's profile. Though I will concede that having the next part right there is good, and been requested. Have you found ways around the cases where the author mucks up the title breaking the 'is this a series story' logic? Typically broken by inconsistent spelling, punctuation and numbering: My Story Part 1. My story Part 2. My Story, Part 3. My story Part O4 etc.

Can I add my vote to this please.

You can make the font larger without the story page... just hit ctrl + to make the page bigger and ctrl - to make it smaller.

Will there ever be an analytics page like on twitter, where an author can see how many people have viewed their profile page?

Or anything like the feature on the forum, where you can see how many people are currently viewing a profile/reading stories?

I used the link https://www.literotica.com/my/#/activity/all. After trying to login. All I get is the first circle "Application " solid the next two are just waiting "circling". If I then download a story or go to the Discussion Board it shows me as logged in albeit I cannot access my home page on the lit site using the link above. I have tried using Chrome and Safari and the response is consistent.

Sorry about the issue. Were you already logged in, or did it ask you to login?

Can you try this logout link, and then try logging in again and see if that resolves the issue?

I tried the logout.php and it doesn't resolve the issue. I have logged in using Chrome Incognito and that doesn't work either. I've tried two different browsers and neither work.

Just cleared Chrome cache and cookies and deleting all tabs before logging in Icognito, same system response

Hi Manu. I'll provide you with some feedback you probably haven't received yet. Due to a vision impairment, I use a screen reader. My platform is a Mac with Safari and the VoiceOver screen reader.

Screen readers give users the ability to quickly jump from one HTML heading to the next. I'm happy to report that the new story page works pretty well with this style of navigation. The title of the story is tagged as a header, and there's nnother header at the bottom, something to do with web cams. This makes it really easy for me to jump to the top and bottom of the story.

If you wanted to do me a favor, you could improve this slightly.

Suggestion #1: Currently, right after the story title, there's a side bar (probably an HTML div tag) that contains story info I must navigate past, then the author and some related info, before eventually getting to the first paragraph. In a screen reader, this means I hit right arrow about a dozen times from the title to the first paragraph. This is no big deal, but it could be tighter. If the sidebar, for example, preceded the title of the story, that would be an improvement.

Suggestion numero dos. In the list of comments, it would be nice if the name of each commenter were a header. This way, if I were in the middle of a useless and long comment, I could easily jump to the start of the next one.

Suggestion #3. Having that web cam header at the bottom is good, but could be better. My suggestion would be to make the page navigation control have a header. And on the final page of the story, have the rating controls start with a header. The web cam header gets me close to these controls, but I'm just trying to optimize it even more.

Well that's it. Except I owe you a complement.

You can't imagine how many times I encounter web pages or apps that roll out new versions that end up totally breaking compatibility with screen readers. That your new story page design works great with a screen reader out of the box is commendable. Thanks for your work. Even if you take no action on my comments above, this is still a great design and will work fine for me.

The issue occurs after login, the system clearly recognises that I am logged in but will not permit access to "my" page. End result is I can't see any newly published works of the Authors I am following.

Tried logout using your URL and cleared cookies but no improvement. I did however manage to access my home page using my iPhone (iOS 12.4.8) but that's really inconvenient and not sustainable. The iPad is using iOS 9.3.6 (13G37) it's an iPad 2 and Apple have stopped updating it. Chrome version is 63.0.3239.73 can't locate the Safari version.

Looking through some older threads it appears that this bug has been reintroduced recently and the Constants and Sessions data is failing download.

Is there any additional information I can provide? And should this really be a separate thread?

I don’t like the fact you can’t preview what you’ve written before sending the comment. Apart from correcting mistakes sometimes I realise I want to add something or rewrite part of the comment. I can’t understand why the opportunity to preview your comment has been removed. Or have I missed something?

Further to the comment function. If you make a mistake on the captcha the page comes up with a wrong captcha message and then there is nothing you can do. You can't return to the comment to get a new captcha. A refresh loses the comment you may have spent a lot of time creating. And frankly you should shoot any captcha the includes 1's and L's. Not much diff between 1 & l especially they way they distort them.

Having used the new beta since it opened, there are two features I would really like to see 1) Return to putting the Story name near the Stars and Comments: scrolling up to the top to check the name gets old very quickly. If I was writing the programming for the vote deletions a reader skipping the story to the end and voting would be a prime signal for a vote deletion. Idle speculation of course

I did think about that but on the other hand some of the stories are so execrable that not voting is a social disgrace but reading to the end will scramble one's brain. I occasionally have to remind folks that this is a free open site available to arsewipes, brainiacs and every shade of intellectual horror in between so we really have to take voting and commenting with a pinch of salt, a large brandy and heaps of ice cream.
For me, a vote is a flag I've read it: similarly I misuse favorites to keep track of which is the last part of a series that' I've read.

New Stories Page and Categories Hubs

I like what i see especially with the Hubs with one BIIIIG exception. I am not sure merging the Categories page with the Stories page is a great success. I accessed the old Categories list about 999 times more than the Stories page but now, when i link to categories I have to scroll down EVERY time. It is very, very, very, irritating.

Either move the categories to the top or split the pages back into two. If for technical reasons (and I can't think of any), you cannot split the two pages please, please, please reduce the scrolling needed to get to the categories list.

My preferred solution is to go back to the old structure of two separate pages.

Storie Series feature on Story Page broken

As people mentioned here, seems the Story Series feature on a specific story page is broken.
Tested it on 3 browsers IceDragon, FireFox and Chrome

As an example I will use the pbbjs Not Quite Sleeping: 4 Part Series, which is correctly setup as it shows up as a series on the Author profile - specifically part 3
1) on the first page in the "Story Info" feature when you select the Series tab shows:

there is no previous or next part and it does not display the correct info about number in the series nor which part of the series this is.
it only contains a link to the series page - which as was said previously is still not implemented so it only takes you to the Authors profile

(Series Info)

again previous or next part links present, no list of parts, only the link to the Series page with the same result as mentioned above.


Hope this will get fixed quickly as this is one of the most useful features on the page at least for me.

Also when the new Story Series page is done will it be possible to bookmark / follow / favorite specific Series. As I may be interested only in that specific series and not every story from the author ...

Also is there a way to search tags ... for example I would like to search for and list all the tags that contain "thresome"? as I may be interested in stories with threesome but not sure if I am interested in a specific kind or not, so I would like to have a look at what tags use this word.
Or at the very least a list of all tags that could be browsed?

I was so upset by the merging of 'Stories' and 'Categories' that I forgot to mutter darkly about the broken Story Series feature - consider this my muttering darkly'. In a previous iteration long before the Beta I raised the issue of following stories and Manu I think, stated that they planned the story series feature as it worked a week or two ago. Manu also mentioned being able to link stories - the present series detector is easily misled by spelling inconsistencies in titles: that has yet to come. I was then pointing out that my favorites list was my way of tracking series. eg, My Favorites are not actually My Favorites, but the last part of a series I'm reading: I've had some flack from Authors who are pissed off with what they see as random favoriting and defavoriting of their stories. I politely suggest they tackle Literotica instead.
However, I'm not sure how an SQL database can track series by Reader as it would need a table somewhat larger than the favorites feature: however, they do track scores by reader by story: I wouldn't like to write the Query that does that.

Finally a question to the designers, is the category tracking feature of the beta a new table that is serviced later on the process? There seems to be a delay of several hours between the story being posted and it appearing in a Hub listing. I haven't had time to check if the delay is in the vanilla version.

Really finally, can we, if we really must have a doorstop sized box, have the box trigger the event that selects the hub, not just the text, pretty please.

Where are the language sites?

Since the story listing is new in the Beta version, the links to other language sites are gone. They are only reachable, if you leave Beta and switch back to the old design.

I think it would be nice to be able to put an extra Enter (an empty line) between blocks of text in the comments, to make things a little easier to read. I've seen people putting periods between text blocks, but it isn't great.

Search Improvement

I would like the search to be able to sort stories by number of pages (or words). I love long stories, but they are quite difficult to find. Sorting by rating doesn't help as long stories don't always have the highest rating. I think this is not difficult to do, given that the word count is already shown at the beginning of the story.
