Geez Louise! There be 41 new poems posted today. I can't tell if they're going away presents for me or people throwing stones, since many of these poems are rock solid written. So let's talk about a few, 'K?

New Poets

There are several postings by poets new to Lit today. Let me start by mentioning them.
  • It appears that _i_stealkisses has been looking at the night sky, since both of her new poems use stars as metaphor. A Pocketful of Stars is sweet without being overly cloying. It's slightly marred, though, by the use of the text message abomination "tho".

Just one old guy's cranky complaint.
  • KittenishJane cooks up a tasty poem stew of consistent metaphor, making me hungry for more. Try a nip. I liked it.
  • The tides wash up eight poems by oceanldy, of which jetsam I liked Ache the best for its use of line length to support its metaphor. The language seems sometimes to fight itself
hollows echo with the silence of the absence of your laugh
screaming and demanding to be filled again
but the overall effect of the poem works well.
  • American Mutt is one of two poems today by wudelfin and serves as a good introduction to whom she sees herself to be. Give her a greeting.

Man! Quite a lot of newcomers. Hope I didn't miss anyone. Let me briefly mention one more, Lady Ariele, who first appeared yesterday with a barrage of eight poems and added one today. Say hello to her as well.

Other Poems

I'm kinda tired after all that reading, and I suspect I'm kinda trying y'all's patience. So let me be brief on the other poems from today and just mention a couple:
  • Lit's editors singled out steve porter's poem seminole decision for the green 'E' of excellence today, and I for one have no argument with them. Mr. P has another poem up today as well. Read 'em both.
  • Our Ms. annaswirls is off making poetry sound pretty randy with Just. Sheesh, if I'd been reading this kind of poem as an undergraduate, I for certain sure would have signed up as an English major. This ain't no Faerie Queene, Mr. Spenser.

Well, that's it for me, at least for some time. I'm off next week on other adventures. Lit's charming gentleman-scholar LeBroz has offered to step in temporarily and do the Wednesday reviews through the end of May. I'm sure you will appreciate his weekly take on the day's poetic fare. After that, it may be catch-as-catch-can.

Anyways, there are a bunch of other poems today that need a little RVCing. Go check 'em out and tell us about which ones you really liked.

Au revoir.

RUN don't walk to the New Poems!

Wait 'til you see the line-up, the opposing poetry team has no chance: Tess, Calli, Maria....I will be back to comment after the field trip.... go team!

I liked some of the ideas projected in the work..the inward feeling of not being good enough to come out of that shell to break into love...very insightful...

A Gentle Wednesday

.
An easy way to start my play; there are only a half dozen submissions to peruse today.

Best Friends by chickadee852006 has a bit of the Hallmarkesque feel to it on this, her 3rd submission.

Letting Go by countrytwilight83 is her premier piece. Take her by the hand and provide some positive feedback; let's see this person grow and develop.

A piece from a long-time member is lie still by Jenna Grey. There's more than one way to sign your work.

The best of the day are from cherries_on_snow. Check them out, either her Serenade with Candle, or Some Winds.

An easy day to read them all and offer the authors encouragement and support. Give 'em a read and let them know what you think, what they've done wrong, and how they can improve and do better.
