New Poetry Recommendations

Hello everyone,

Spend a moment getting to know Hippokrene and then read the short list of poems you find. Take a moment to read the poet's Editor's Choice poem Lying on the railroad tracks. This poet bears watching during the inevitable growth that will follow such vivid exploration. There's even a good BDSM poem by Hippokrene, I'll leave it to you to find, though. I can't make all of the reading easy.

Wednesday's Review

.

A beautiful midweek and three pieces caught my eye.

Liar has a nice piece out in Laina spun a star well tale. So well told, I found myself holding my breath while reading it.

Hippokrene has three out today. With a title a bit foreboding and with a little green E to recommend it comes Lying on the railroad tracks. A lighter more melodic read is in store for you in My Desert - Major to Minor. I second Carrie's recommendation to check out the rest of this writer's work ~ here's hoping it continues to grow and develop.

Have a fun day and, while you're at it, give 'em all a read and share your thoughts/comments.

Another Wednesday Poem

Xbox 360
by Minervous ©

My son slumps on the floor,
heavy as a sack of flour.
Only fingers move.

It as if worms
have eaten his body hollow
and the new moths
exit from his hands.

------------------------------

What a great poem. It's about this lazy kid, playing video games. I have two just like that! "worms have eaten his body hollow and the new moths exit from his hands" It seems that lines like those would be reserved for something grander than the xbox. Anyway, talented poet.

There are 16 new poems for Thursday and Friday including these that caught my ever so short attention span: Minervous's Riddle was short enough to match my attention span today and made me think of night scented stock (in spite of the text), and I could identify with yourlittledominatrix's window panes and puzzle frames. Also suited to my short attention span was writermike's So Sad No Place.

Neoneurotic's illustrated Toeing the Line woke me up quicker than fainting salts. It's sexy and philisophical in even measure. Other poems include some rhythm and rhyme, an alphabet of birth and death and again lots of the ropeburn poems one is used to seeing in new submissions. Enjoy!

I'm not sure if it's deliberate or not but click on christy20's link. Given the title of her poem it's kinda funny Art.

Tuesday Review

Greetings all, here goes my first review. 9 poems today. Here are the highlights:

Lauren Hynde gives us mathematic variations with cat
which scored a bright green E. Congrats, Lauren. The word tapestry is a lovely sight, but by the end I wanted to see something deeper to surface. However, Hynde at least gives us ambitious work that requires more than a cursory glance from readers. Not my personal favorite of hers, but at least she's never less than smart.

Moonstormer is next with The Keeper I like this writer's style, to the point and almost defiantly simple, but I think it was executed more effectively with Forced Entry back in August.

oregon_gal gives us a lovely, light thing with Knowing When to Let Go

PoeticE_motion hands over the delightful Haiku - Mark Foley and the epic Choice Challenge Both very smart, both worth checking out. The latter is a more substantial piece, and one that actually says something of note.

bluerains gives us the unfortunately titled, but gorgeous poem Duces wild Nothing to say except that she pulls off sexy verbage every time.

Have a lovely Wednesday, all.

Wednesday's Review

.

Looks like Manu pulled an all-nighter poking around Lit's innards and today's dozen offerings were a bit late showing up. So let me go through the lot and see which catch my eye or might perhaps catch yours.

lostandfounder leads off with Leonard Cohen Buying Produce and thankfully spares us comments about foot long cucumbers or organically-grown spinach.

Nigel Debonnaire brings us an interesting piece in Butterfly and the role it plays in a 'faux summer day.' He's also given us a sweet piece of remembrance in Only Remembering.

Man Ray adds to his body of illustrated poems with, King by Birth, Ruled by Love, a tale about the choice between love and duty.

dorksicle has a light little piece in musings.

Brilliant_mistake has a rather bitter piece out, filled with parenthetical musings in Letting Go.

That'll do for today. Have a go at them and read, vote, comment ~ it's the least you can do. Above all, comment ~ a fair exchange for the pleasure of reading free poetry.

Not a new poem review-- a top 100 poem review:

Wow, look at this one from the top list, it is an oldie, I never saw it before. I know it is not about the score, it is about the poem, I am just glad I got to read it, very nicely written, in my opinion, deserving to be at the top :)

Don't let the title fool you, this is pretty clever!

Thursday and Friday Reviews

There are 25 new poems up for Thursday and Friday and my picks are Boxlicker 101's limerick The Dumb Checker, the graphic D/s themed poem Explanation by tied (the latter will likely not be to everyone's taste but I liked the central image of twigs caught in her hair). A perfect follow up to that one is Minervous's Peaceful and after that, you may well need a cigarette!

Especially worth reading are lobomao's Poet's Convention and KittenishJane's A Lady's Dictionary 1944. You will also see the Halloween poems sprouting here and there, my favorite of which is Seduceros2's Morticia Addams My Love.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. :)

Wednesday's Review

.

Busy day ahead for me so I'll start extra early on today's offerings - 14 shown so far.

But first, what's with this anonymous character carrying on ad nauseam about poetry postings being from an alt? So what? Liar & neonurotic have gone this route and were quite open about it. They're not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. When you think about it, Liar & neonurotic are alts {unless their parents were really weird and named them that!} And then knocking down the thermometer as though submitting under a different name lessens a poem's quality.

And speaking of alts, lets start the day with a Southern alt:

KittenishJane leads the list today with Bruise Theory. By the time you get to Nurse Rocky you'll understand why this piece is such a gem; however, if trips to dentists leave you queasy, this poem won't help matters any. It does have a wicked sense of humor {groan - sorry Eve}.

A Desert Rose has a piece out I've seen evolve, Lost at Sea. One image that comes to mind is being stuck in a dead-end job ~ so depressing. Give it a look; see what you think.

Hippokrene strikes again in his own unique style with a piece about a mechanical universe in The Machine Universe.

lobomao has a different kind of piece out today, the feast of Santa Rosa. It is a bilingual piece and you need to be able to handle Spanish.

Finally, secretdrms has her first poetry piece out today in A Bouquet of Her Own. A nice light romantic touch. Give her a welcome to this side of Lit.

That's it for now. These are the ones that tickled my whiskers ~ oh wait, I don't have any. Well, they tickled something!
In any case, read, vote, comment ~ it's the least you can do. Above all, comment ~ a fair exchange for the pleasure of reading free poetry.

I'll check in later to see if there are any more hitting today after yesterday's drought.

And have a great humpday!
