New Poetry Recommendations

Yo, poets! Specsie, through no fault of her own, seems to have missed the new poems for Tuesday, which showed up somewhat late. So, ahem, I'll just forge ahead and impose my own ascetic (aesthetic?) on the day's offerings.

Fair game fer anyone, actually.

There were, by my arithmetically challenged account, twenty-two new poems today. Surprisingly (to me, perhaps not to you), quite a number of them were interesting, if not something I will end up recommending. Yeah, snob. Call me names.

фавориты:

Personal choices, o'course. I liked ladybug by The_Fool and I really liked Madame Clarinet by dorksicle. Read both of these, if you don't read anything else, hey?

But you would be cheating yourself if you stopped there. Take a gander at the more prosaic but interesting Waking Dream by TrevorBlack and de Vine submission by darkitude. I rather liked some of the work by Coolville and eroticdream1120 as well. (Hey! Do I have to link everything for you?)

Anyways. Happy Boxing Day, all. What's left of it. Which at this point is basically an hour or two in Hawaii.

Er, nevermind. Just go read.

Piece.

Wednesday's Review

.

Another hump day's come round, providing me with a light load to read. Hope Manu's not playing with his toys today; Christmas day's offerings changed yesterday when a load got dumped on an unsuspecting Specs. Hope these promised changes make it all worth it.

Boxlicker101 has an audio poem out today, sure to squeeze an "Awwww" out of some of Lit's ladies, where he's writing as a softy grandparent in, Binky Biter.

lindiana also has an audio poem out today and I confess, sometimes I just listen to hear her breathy speaking. Today she's speaking of, Once.

HersheytheTemptress explores haiku in her, Although I'm not Chiyo-ni, I'll give it a shot. Personally, I think the last piece in the collection is a bit too wordy. See what you think.

Finally, Sinlightenment has her first piece out today in, hello, my dirty little secret. Her dirty little secret is, well, read it yourself and see. Turned out better than I at first expected.

Well, that's it for today ~ an interesting mix. But go see for yourself and, at the very least, read, vote, comment. Above all, comment ~ a fair exchange for the pleasure of reading free poetry.

Wednesday's Review

.

Thank you Christian for that major helping hand. Got to sleep late and got up early and could not believe that there were 49 pieces out on this Wednesday, since poems have been showing up late in the day recently. So I went back to bed for some much needed sleep.

Now here's my spin on this huge poem dump ~ and yes, I did read them all ~ that extra four+ hours sleep helped.

Good calls from Christian, so I won't repeat them all, save for three I want to add my 2¢ to and a couple pieces he didn't hit.

ShyErraticTable has those two pieces out as mentioned, Star-Crossed, which is pure Middle-America from the Levitz to references to Red/Blue, and Resolution Triolet. Don't know what it is about the triolet that appeals to me, though it is far simpler (and less technical) than some more complicated piece like a sestina.

Tristesse2 has 3 pieces up today, but I only care to add an extra mention to Glose. Thank you for that special instruction; I was trying to figure out the name for the format you were using when it hit me that it was the title all along ~ I just love learning something new everyday.

woz8822 has another odd piece out today, Emboldened by Her Avatar, She Succumbed. Give it a couple reads; at least it's not the usual crude piece of erotica that puts you off in the first stanza.

darkitude has a piece out today in a submissive vein, Ratio Equals Color.... This one stands out among many D/s or BDSM pieces in its subtle presentation and understated theme ~ it has style. Perhaps this young lady will take a chance and spread her wings and try some other themes.

That's it for now. Now I need to hunt up my aspirin bottle. Between the two of us covering these 49 poems, all we could come up with are 11 pieces, combined.

Or I could go for a New Years Eve replay.

Well, now that we've done the really hard work, you can read, vote, comment ~ it's the least you can do. Above all, comment ~ a fair exchange for the pleasure of reading free poetry.

Specs has pointed out some excellent poems. But, hey! You would regret it if you did not check out the renascence of our Lusitânian poet, Lauren Hynde, who as Survivorista may grace our forum for a bit. (She needs to swell her points on poems both erotical and non. Perhaps she will recite some, as audio poetry counts survivorly for points. Or may she illustrate? This she has done before. Oh, gosh, I tremble, at what we may see. ;))

You know, I'd love to hear her voice. Why is that?

OK (this phrase is relocated from where Sara chased it off), anyway, I would suggest you all read LH's poems today. They're good. What's that? Where are they? Well, they're right here:Hey, y'all! Lauren's back and writing poems. And, damn, they're good!

Ook. 'Scusi. :)

Freya's Day Reviews, Substitutionally

It's probably snowing up in Maine (like, when is it not? August?) So here is T-zed's Quick Guide to Ze Bestest Poems of the Day:You, or Angie, should she appear, may have other favorites. I am not, well usually not, infallible. So go read and vote and commentatory, peoples. Your opinions I have not. Not those are mine. Or reversi. Clementine. :)

Grk! ;)

New Poem Reviews

We may as well by Fallenfromgrace I mention this poem for its topic as well as its write. When parents ask; "where did I go wrong" perhaps they do not like looking in the mirror <grin ... I found this read to be inspirational for those who wish to understand their children.

Les Feuilles Mortes by Aurora Black ... I enjoyed her poetic pen

Why thank you Specs for that fine hand-off. Now in view of the way submissions have been appearing of late ~ a huge dump last week and twice yesterday, I think I'll just go ahead and get a running start.

Well now let's see, there are but 13 up today ~ so far. I'm just hoping Manu has no further surprises for me, like another download of 20 to 30 postings. So let's start with what I've got and see what develops.

Lauren Hynde is leading the list this Wednesday with Kurt. I get the impression on this one that a woman has solved her problem with Kurt rather permanently. Perhaps Lauren's taking the position that it wasn't suicide but murder instead. See what you think about this poem with that little green E.

ShyErraticTable has a villanelle up today, Not as Some Loves. Having done such a great job with the triolet, SET doesn't disappoint here. The wording all flows so smoothly that the form is barely discernible. Now to convince SET to try for the Gold and go for the sestina!

Finally, MungoParkIII has a short piece out about a final permanent Coffee Break. Give his other pieces a look; you'll find MPIII exercises great economy of words with his sparse writing.

That's it for now, unless Manu loads up with more poems. Have a great Wednesday and remember to read, vote, comment ~ it's the least you can do. You might just find something you prefer. Above all, comment ~ a fair exchange for the pleasure of reading free poetry.

Critique Jeudi (My Sister Wants Me to Learn French)

A bunch of New Poems today. Lauren Hynde's Abstract is definitely worth checking out.

Have a lovely weekend, guys.

Specs

p.s. And I got a green E.

Do not ignore

The above review by Spectaclesinskirt is not good enough. It does not recommend 3 pieces by the same poet which are must reads. They are:-

1 "Grandparents"
2 "Laurel"
3 "Kindred Merricat Adams"

Haven't got time to write fuller review but do not miss these .Specs will I am sure agree that the poet has great talent.

Whatever you do, don't miss:

Grandparents by SpectaclesInSkirt

Kudos to SIS for writing this tender and quite powerful poem. Read and savor.

Abstract by Lauren Hynde

Quite a clever poem, one that can be interpreted as being (imho, anyway) both erotic and non-erotic. I interpreted it as being the latter. Read and see.

Plainsong by ShyErraticTable

A simply told but quite effective sensual poem. Has a good rhythm and is pleasing to both the eye and ear

Perhaps Vanilla by MungoParkIII

Quite a sweet love poem, you can smell the flavors in the poem. The poetic equivalent of sniff-n-scratch

Tristesse2

T2 has 3 poems today (Friday) "Deviant Rose" is my favourite but "Paper Route" is a good observation piece. "Exodus" is one I didn't quite connect with. Erotic?? All worth reading.

Art had this morning's 15 covered, but then Manu up and gives us another dozen this afternoon. Here are a couple from this morning's load I feel have merit, followed by a couple from this afternoon's installment.

Lauren Hynde has a thoroughly pleasurable piece in Props and Wardrobe. It even feels like rolling screen credits while reading this.

ShyErraticTable continues working the form poems with his cinquain piece, Sunset.

From this afternoon we find:

Maria2394 has a well done acrostic in Hope ( an acrostic). The words just felt so delicious each time I read this; must be something about Southern women.

Finally, Boota has his first poetry posting, a prose piece about memories of a first love in Little Thunder.

Here's hoping Manu can fix this problem soon; there've been a number of days of late where there have been afternoon postings. As a result, some poems don't get mentioned if the reviewer does the job in the morning.

In any case, go check out today's offering of 27 poems and remember to read, vote, comment ~ it's the least you can do. Above all, comment ~ a fair exchange for the pleasure of reading free poetry.
