Did anyone watch our weasel ex-governor on Oprah today? Who cares that he's gay? Just be a good governor- don't abuse power by commandeering helicopters, flying off wherever you want ot have a little fling....just be good for the state. I know, a govenor who's good for the state is an oxymoron!

Just me, ranting about nothing!

i saw it and i was over his whole "godly" i just wanted to slap him!

Tonight's the night! Hockey season begins! In less than two hours, I will be at the Meadowlands to watch my favorite game in the world- beer in my hand! The only negative about watching at the stadium is "no topless hockey", but that's ok. Nothing could be better than hockey live!

I hope that everyone is doing well. We've gotten so very quiet...I drive in NJ so I know that there are still people here, but....we're not talking, I guess!

congrats on getting to see your team live...that's always a high.

well, they lost to the rangers. yuck. but they didn't get shut out. at one point in the third period (a 5 on 3) i considered taking my top off, but....didn't feel like getting arrested. It really is better left at home!

anyway, good night all!

Just for the chance

of seing slo taking top off, would be worth to see my Rangers lose,lol..just remember lass, tis not the start of the race that wins, but the finish. We'll see you in April..Erin Go Bragh!! :rose:

Au contraire, my Little Slow Queen, I think you're ranting about something very pertinent.

Even if I'd been home and had the time to watch it, I wouldn't have watched McGreevey on Oprah. What a disappointment he has turned out to be. When the news first broke about his resignation, I actually wrote him a letter urging him not to resign, because I thought it was ridiculous that he should resign just because he had an affair, albeit it with a man, and albeit he'd been covering up his sexuality.

My thinking at the time: Point A - how many politicians have had affairs? Lots. Why should he be an exception and have to resign? Point B - who cares what your sex life is like, as long as you're doing the job you were elected to do, and doing it was well as you can.

But then the news broke that his paramour was his homeland security director and suddenly it was painfully obvious that he was not doing the job that he had been elected to do. Since we all knew that calling Golan Cipel "unqualified" would actually be overstating his qualifications, it was just so... so... well, it just didn't sit right with me that he (our former Gov.) turned out in the end to be just another slug who could not separate the big head from the little head. I mean, you want to go get laid, go get laid. But what is so hard about separating work from pleasure?

The early reviews of his book seem to confirm what we already know: that he is self serving. Period. One of the radio reviews I heard talked about how he snuck off somewhere with someone with someone while his wife was in the hospital recovering from giving birth by C-Section. OK. You're gay. Big deal. But leave the woman who just gave birth to your child by getting cut open alone in the hospital? Where is the morality or chivalry in that? Nowhere.

They're trying to spin this as a tale of redemption, as a tale of one man's fight to discover his true nature. Gag me. I am glad that so far the media don't seem to be buying it, and every review I have heard has focused on his professional and ethical lapses. Good.

The bottom line is that TRASH/Scadal sells, Just invision (for those of you who may remember or read about the Kennedy Years) if the media was than as it is today the crap that would have flown...

Look at Clinton, brought down by a stain on a dress... and the media...

and up to the next few weeks at least I live in NYS with the Senator from Hell...

My two bits.....

*sees that things are going along swimmingly, and there is no need for her sharing words. so, she turns toward the door, opens it, turns back and waves farewell, then lets it close behind her*

H H don't leave... lol a little government crap is good to get the blod boiling for a change.. it proves to the world that there is something beside sex that we think of.....

OMG Did I just say that ?????

Have a GREAT Day all

HH- we need another opinion here! Sometimes I feel like i'm talking to myself, Gomez, and Jerseyman....not too many talkers around these parts!

Hope everyone had a good Friday! (oh wait, that's not for another two days... maybe I've been working too hard!)

Buona notte!

seems to me

we all agree he is a lowlife, but is he taking more flak cause he is a gay lowlife?.Kennedy,Nixon,Clinton all escaped unscathed, bruised but not fatal.Hetero sex and white collar scandal seems to win over gay sex scandal.Just fodder for discussion..Poge Ma Thon!!

Just curious. Is it just me or did anyone else notice that the NJ gay/lesbian community DID NOT rally to McGreevy's defense throughout this affair???

I don't think it's a matter of being a gay weasel, just that he was just such a supreme weasel. Yes, there have been famous presidents with famous affairs, (even FDR!) but I'm not sure that it was such blatant disregard for the office. Besides, it was the fact that he used being gay as an excuse that makes it even more weasely. And I think BT brings up a good point--not only did NJ's Gay Alliance not rally behind him, neither did any other groups. What does that tell you?

Just my two cents....night all!

TRUE!!! I have a co-worker who happens to be a self admitted lesbian, registered democrat, a so liberal she can make Karl Marx look like a staunch republican. And even she hated McGreevy for being such a weasel!!!

That fact, at least to me, screams volumes!!!!

I don't think he is taking more flack because he is gay. Well, it doesn't seem like he's taking more flack in the media, at any rate. He's taking flack for trying to spin his story into something it's not. Would that the media had been so perceptive or aggressively skeptical about weapons of mass destruction.

I am sure in conservative relgious circles he's taking more flack, but it doesn't seem like the general public cares that he was gay... just that he was a liar and a cheat and didn't put either his family or the job he was elected to do first and foremost.

Clinton escaped bruised but not fatally so because he eventualy 'fessed up. And think of how much trouble he could have saved himself, his family and the nation if he had just 'fessed up in the first place. I point to Al Gore as an example. He told us decades ago he smoked pot. He said it, it was reported, and that was that. No more story. Nobody cared. saved us all a lot of silliness.

Nixon on the other hand you may remember had to resign, as did McGreevey. I think we all know now that he did not resign because he was gay; he resigned because he knew he was going to be pilloried for appointing his lover to an important post he wasn't qualified for.

I don't presume to speak for the gay and lesbian community, but if my G/L friends are any barometer, the community did not rally to his side for three reasons. One, they don't like someone who pretends to be something else. Two, now that we know he's gay they're pissed that he did not stand up for same sex marriages, just domestic partner legislation. Three, he gave them a bad name, the same way as he gave men, white men, politicians and Jerseyites a bad name.

Slow hit the nail on the head. Who wants to be associated with a weasle? And he's still a weasle. It's not like he's being all contrite and turning his life around. He's out there shilling for his book, further hurting his family (and they're still his family, at least by association), and spinning this story into something it's not. Look at us even. You'd think he would at least get SOME support on a porn site!

You're always so eloquent for "a porn site" I think McCreepy is a two time loser (he did this to another wife, though he didn't "come out" he did use her and their baby to cover his "gayness" . I also think he's an asshole. And he's a horrible leader. Anyone who lets their dick take the lead in the leadership of a state as large and as populated as NJ during a high terror alert time, and appoints their lover to a vital post (come on, he could've put him in charge of picking the new state website colors!) deserves to more than resign.

GG I have to correct you,, the Fellow McSceevy hired for NJ Home Land Security Chief is STRAIGHT just a "Pretty Boy" the SOB Gov. wanted to convert. thats where the sexual harrasment charge was coming from.. he had other gay lovers but there were blowing him not the whistle...lol

along with other gents he was meeting at certain NJ Truck stops.. now that's Friggin nasty.. he might as well have gone to a Homosexual Glory Hole and kept his mouth shut.. hey wait I guess that would have defeted the purpose...lol

the only problem I have with this whole discussion (and yes, I'm quite aware that I started the whole thing) is that i don' t think the weasel govenor deserves all this attention. I love that we have been having such an absolutely wonderful discussion- it's just such a bummer that it's about loser MacGreevey!

What else can we talk about in this crazy world without giving attention to weasels and politicians? My Devils are not doing very well- but luckily it's only preseason!!!

hmmm....searching around my mushy brain for another stimulating topic!
:D

oh my, coming up empty! Oh well, I have a date with a glass of wine--ta ta for now! slow

Well, let's see... there's the war, the President, who's going to run for President and who's likely to win, red wine vs. white wine, boxers vs. briefs, fav TV shows, property taxes, whether the Shawshank Redemption got robbed by Forest Gump at the Oscars... no end of things we could talk about !
