Thanks! I'll play around with the settings the next time we get a full moon.

Don't wait that long! Try it when the moon is half full and you'll get really cool shadows across the surface. You'll see the craters and hills all along the line between night and day on the moon.

This is from when we got some snow this year, which is a rare occurrence for us.

Yeah, definitely not the tropics. ;)

Yep, this man he speaks the truth, though it has to be said your initial shot was very good... my first attempt at the moon was a white smudge on a dark background... come to think o f it, the next thirty attempts were too.

Here's my cloud pic of the day. Just let it bring calmness to your being...:)

My first attempt at star trails... 16 minute exposure. Unfortunately I had a streetlight nearby and incoming cloud cover.

4th of July clouds. If you look closely, that middle cloud looks like a giant...male rooster.

Digging through the archives again.

The first one I've shared before, but since then I've changed the processing a bit. The others are from the Florida Keys and Key West a few years ago.

Not fair! You have the best clouds ever where you live!

Haha! We've had even more weather activity for the past few days as the storms in the Gulf affect the entire region. I'm going to try to get some more lightning shots tonight.

Great new posts from everyone!

Phil, that pic with the three ominous looking funnels is fantastic!

FC, great capture of what looks like a vulture!

Mads, how long was that exposure?

Thanks! Typical south Florida summer weather.

I want to know, too! And what is the bright(er) area in the middle? It can't be a cloud (too stationary) ... maybe part of the Milky Way?

I've tried star trails with my camera, but the sensor heats up before too long and imparts a glow to the corner of the image. Maybe if I were in the Rockies in winter it would be okay, but Miami not only warm but also filled with ambient light at all hours of the day.

It is indeed the milky way... I'm in a fairly rural location, so star shots can be obtained with a ten minute walk.
With regards to glow, there was a little that I edited out with a minor bit of tweaking, but I think that came from a window with a light on.

EXIF Data for you... Exposure (for those who don't immediately know how many minutes that many seconds is) is just shy of 16 minutes.

Model: Canon EOS 30D
